Word Party (2016)
I can't say anything that good.
I get that it is a show to try and teach little tinies new words, but I very much dislike it. My little brother is almost 2, and picks up words very well, but so far I haven't heard him say anything from it, just say what colour something is.
Their voices made me curl up in a ball when I first heard them. Why must they put on baby voicing that much? It makes me imagine the voice actors cringing when reading lines out.
The animation seems decent at first glance, but something is obviously odd about it. I thought the movements were okay, and so were the textures, but have you seen them talking? First of all, they don't have moving tongues! Just shaded out pink in the back of their throat. I don't know whether that was the odd choice of style they were going for, or if they were just lazy. The animation is just disturbing.
They reuse songs over and over so while sitting in the other room I am just thinking to myself "What, are there like only 4 episodes?".
I suppose that it has sliiiight potential to teach kids words, but through those babied voices it is hard for me to even retain the knowledge of what any word means. I can't imagine my brother picking it up very well ( though, just a minute ago he copied them in saying "big kiiids"but I don't think that is what they were aiming for ).
I think a many negative things on this bane to my ears, but I want to be positive. It is cool that.... they call them big kids ( creepy also ) I guess. Makes little dudes feel... superior?... I don't know. I just...argh.
I find it hard to like shows that could very likely cause my brother speak in a very babied voice. What I don't get about these sort of shows is babies speak in a more melodic, and actually word like way than they do in this show.
Super Why! (2007)
This show is awesome for toddlers, and for some reason me.
My little brother ( nearly 2 ) loves this show so much. I love it he loves it.
As much as it bugged me ( still does ) the way they change certain fairy tales which I love ( did not like Rapunzel ), they did an excellent job with making a show that engages little buddies, and also teaches them new words.
My brother often says words, and little things he sees or hears from it and I am amazed sometimes by it. He then adds "From.. Superwhy!" I am really proud of him.
The Animation is okay in the 3D animated parts, I really like the style now it has grown on me. But I really love all the different art once they are in the books.
The music is cool, even though they reuse it every episode, we still enjoy it; and after a while I was watching it too ( and not just because my bro was... ). I keep asking him who each character is, and it is hilarious. He tells me it almost every time I ask. In the parts with the alphabet letters he points to the right letters and everything.
When watching my little bro just soaks up everything like a little sponge, which is why I would much rather him watching an awesome show which has been helping him widen his vocabulary, and not something like peppa pig... which caused him to say ig instead of pig thanks to her little brother.
Super why is one of his favourite shows.
Peppa Pig (2004)
Please don't show it to kids who are just learning to speak.
This is a show me and my older sister used to watch only when waiting for something else to come on.
It is on netflix now, and I thought when I first saw it there "Oh man, Sebastian should never watch this" he is my almost 2 year old brother.
He asked for it one morning and my Mum played it and I was reminded of how terrible it was. I thought it was at least a little enjoyable, since it is so darn popular, but even my brother had to take breaks from it and would start crying.
The animation is hard for me to look at, the lines overlapping each other infuriate me, and why does everyone have to be colour coded?
All females I have seen wear shades of red, all males I have seen wear shades of blue.
Peppa is rude and a narcissist. She clearly doesn't understand when something is awesome sounding, when going to "windy castle" as I think it was called she said something along the lines of "it sounds like some boring boy thing." Shut up child! It sounds awesome! Since when is a castle a Boy thing?
On very top of the list of various things I do not like about it, because of watching it my brother started saying "ig" instead of "pig " because of Peppa's brother's weird speech. He was perfectly capable of saying it before. Why can't he pronounce P's? I have like, hundreds of cousins who are younger than me, and they all seemed capable of pronouncing P's.
I understand there may be some Kids who cannot pronounce P's, but that doesn't mean you should put it in a show a little toddler will probably watch.
It just really pisses me off when things mess with my brother's pronunciation of things.
