Hello Tomorrow! (2023)
Just okay
Great acting and plot, although I wish the writing was a little better. Love the retro futuristic theme and generally how the story shows how we all need something to believe in and the effects that can have on our psyche and relationships. The escapism and hope that comes with that is an interesting way to look at it as well. I immediately connected it to religion and believing in God.. it was an interesting lens to watch it through for sure. It hasn't really elicited any emotion or connection though for some reason and I think that's the writing. Not sure if we'd watch a second season or not.
Swan Song (2021)
Well done.. Ali deserves an Oscar for this
Fantastic performance by Mahershala Ali. Be warned though, if you've ever lost someone very close to you, this movie can be very triggering. Lots of hypothetical, ethical questions to be thought about.
Only Murders in the Building (2021)
Refreshing!
Great show.. it's exactly what I needed in this pandemic world, having exhausted all decent shows to watch lol.. Interesting and funny/light. Steve Martin definitely carries the show. Eager to see who did it and I hope the show comes back for more seasons.
Firefly Lane (2021)
It's the casting...
Love the story.. it's heartwarming and entertaining. Sarah Chalke is great and I typically don't mind Katherine Heigl.. Could take her or leave her, but wow.. as talented as she is, she is just not a good fit for Tully... it's so distracting.. The thought must pop into my head every scene she's in. She just doesn't fit her personality at all... the actress that plays Tully as a teenager though - wow! She's perfect for the role and very talented. It's not a bad show, I just don't think I'll watch past episode 3 because of how distracting Heigl is as Tully.
Anne (2017)
Give it a chance!
As a 34 year old woman obsessed with true crime, psychology thrillers, etc., sometimes I need something light and pleasant with an entertaining and solid storyline. This is it. This show has been my escape from the horrors of 2020-2021. Amybeth McNulty is fantastically perfect in her portrayal of Anne as well.
