Evil Bong (2006)

Tommy Chong rides again
18 November 2006
The Title name came out and grabbed my attention straight away, so i had to see it. I must admit, i thought i was watching a Troma film at the start, but this one held my attention right through. Compared to other stoner flicks of late,Evil Bong was a sweet surprise, with an original storyline and a refreshing mixture of characters, including the hilarious older relative of one of the men.

It was great to see Tommy Chong again - He never disappoints In his classic role as the veteran of all things green- and this is no exception. It goes without saying, this Movie is a must for any Cheech and Chong fan, and it's hard to tell if you're in 1982 or 2006 at times, when you're watching it. I could have sworn i saw Janet Jackson somewhere in this film. As a matter of fact, I'm gonna go watch it again. If you liked this film, see Half Baked, or Harold and Kummar Go to White Castle, if you haven't already. *******

Two men and a group of children try to escape the wrath of an island volcano
9 November 2006
This film has been firmly entrenched in my mind since i first saw it in 1974 at the age of seven. I have often thought about it, sometimes forgetting the title, but never forgetting the horror i felt at seeing the explosions and the flowing lava, and feeling the panic of the characters. Man's insignificance and helplessness against mother nature is portrayed with a sense of evil; Not unlike lord of the Flies. Every now and then, it has been replayed on TV, so i have watched it again and refreshed my memory. Even though older now, and more Desensitised to that type of stuff i have enjoyed reflecting as i watch it again. I feel that it set a standard for others to come, with a mixture of suspense, heroism and tragedy that certainly leaves no punches pulled.

One Man's struggle for - Success.

Joey Grasso is a hero in his own mind, and nothing will stop him getting her way. Some people might say it's so stupid- it's funny, but it's an enjoyable watch, just for the sake of the story. A "Dodgy" character quite a lot of Australians would identify with,, whether a close relative or even themselves, tries to make someone's dreams come true. While not expecting an epic- even though there are a few big names in the colorful cast,(which was a bonus);i found it had a good chemistry between the characters, and a down to Earth realism. I found myself living his despair at times as this film hit the nail on the head for so many people's familiar life experiences. Salvatore's persistence keep it going the distance. Well done!!
