Continue analyzing characters and look for details. Now try to see a hidden plot between the lines, or in visuals. Conversation between characters can mean a conversation between director and a viewer. Hidden plot can be told through music, symbols, characters actions, decorations. Dialogue is only 20% of a movie, other "plots" are told through what is happening behind what we are told directly.
In 1 scene a character might say he is a psychologist and we are shown that he loves to study humans. And the plot is centered on them hunting ghosts. But every time they meet a person who claims to have seen a ghost, "ghostbusters" ask them if they have mental problems. What it means, there has never been ghosts, and what they actually do, they look for mental people and "help" them, actually exploit. It is shown in every "small" detail, like answering to a "mass actor", remember their answer, what and how they say, they might even gigle and you used to skip it, as unnesesarity. Why else do you think directors require 50 takes? They want every move of a finger to unfold the plot. (2)
They "cross" their guns which shoot with yellow rays. Crossing the rays might terminate them. It's like they are 10 years old guys who use their penises as guns, and they pee. Rays are symbols of urination. In 1 scene a woman exits elevator and asks what are they hunting. They answer Cockroach. "The intro of "ghostbusters" by itself is like a boyish song, only kids would love to hear. The most hidden plot here, and it's on the third layer - is 10 years old boys playing on their backyard, and pretending. They see a cockroach some there and chase it, peeing on it. We are like watching their dreams. How they "build" their own world, by what they see near them. It's not enough to judge by only 1 symbol or detail, like rays by itself are not enough to interpretate them as urination, but the combination of symbols build "the plot". The deepest plots are actually plots of associations, symbols. Now you will see turning points not of a screenplay, but turning point of symbols. Don't imagine things, EVERYTHING has been shown. (3)
Look for the main idea. Austin Powers in actually a movie about parenting problems (2) layer. How old generation doesn't understand young. It is shown in every detail. Try to find all details by the principle how I explained "ghostbusters". But there is also a (3) layer. Try to find it. Watch a movie for 10 minutes - then stop and think.
Also, the name of a movie sometimes unfolds the most hidden plot. That's why always look movies in original with subtitles. Because that's the only way you can see what director intended. Without it all movies become 1 layered trash. And you can actually learn the language the fun way.
Some movies you have watched in 1 and 2 levels had up to 10 layers. Try to think which ones?
Ideas can be different :racism, parenting, sometimes they are philosophical and usually they are found on 5th and deeper layers (the meaning of life, how we are all responsible for our actions, how government controls our minds). Ideas might be just an emotion, like satire on something. That's the beauty of film, you don't know what it's all about, you just watch and analyze. Don't imagine, just watch and pay attention to EVERY detail, every sound you hear, every knock.

Thin line between Geniusness and Madness. Transition between mass movies and art house (dialogue movies) which are closer to life. People must understand that thinking about these things is not madness.
