Jigeum uri hakgyoneun (2022)
If you love HoTD you'll love this
Imo I thought the first episode was a bit slow to get to the zombie outbreak and boy was I happy when it did.
I find how the virus was made a little interesting, nothing mind blowing, but interesting. I think the only thing that gets me are the points where the writing is dumbed down so the plot can move forward. The best moment I can think of is when a kid calls the authorities. I sat there and repeated "please don't be stupid and say "zombies are attacking students at my school"." and then the student brings up Train to Busan, which you should watch if you haven't yet. So far this is a good zombie series.
Some points off for writing and pacing but still good.
The Cleaning Lady (2022)
Has potential but that writing needs work
I am enjoying it but the 3rd episode almost broke me from all the dumb character choices and poor writing. The female lead says "this isn't what she signed up for" when it is exactly what she signed up for and she shouldn't be so freaked out when she sees her "employer" drowning a guy in grease.
Also the organization she works for doesn't have someone watching her in case she meets with a certain agent to become a possible C. I.?
Look, I know we are supposed to suspend our disbelief but the way this writing goes might make me lose interest.
Funhouse (2019)
Squid Game is better
I would probably have liked this if I hadn't seen Squid Game before watching this film. The acting is bad and the story is meh at best. It is a movie that has been done before many times before like The Condemned with Steve Austin.
Encounter (2021)
Better if it was ACTUAL sci-fi
The movie was presented as a kind of Skin Walkers or They Live but it is just an artsy film about a soldier poorly dealing with his PTSD. I will say Riz Ahmed acting pretty well and the child actors did above average job. I think it would have been better as an actual Sci fi film though. Above average film that is good for a single viewing and never watch again.
Pig (2021)
John Wick if he was a chef
I don't think I see what other critics see with this movie. It isn't an awful movie but it isn't anything that I would want to watch again either. I do think the acting is well done but that is about all I have to say good about the film really.
Pacific Rim (2021)
This needed more than 6 episodes
This anime was something. It felt like it wanted too add every monster movie idea into a six episodes. Like they took ideas from multiple franchisee of monster flicks or shows and said "we'll add this, a little bit of that, put this there" and then shoved it out the door. I was all for the idea of kids going on an adventure to find their parents but then they add so many other ideas that just felt like this was an amateur writer's first attempt at fanfiction.
Gundala (2019)
It was super'meh'
I feel like the pacing of this movie is kinda slow. I mean the guy doesn't even become his alter ego until over an HOUR into the movie. Also his power is kinda lame in the movie. He can absorb thunder and shoot it back, it also heals him, and makes him indestructible. but it is almost like if he shoots a single bolt he can't use those powers until he is struck by lightning again. This dude's main way of beating baddies is martial arts. Now I love a good martial arts film and this was enjoyable BUT I wanted to see a superhero throwing thunderbolts not punches. This dude is just basically daredevil that can throw a bolt every once in a while.
Plus you think a hero who NEEDS thunder to use powers would fight crime during thunderstorms
BNA (2020)
This show is a beast
Trigger always never seems to disappoint me with their anime. This was a pretty good watch. My only gripe is with Michiru though. It seems that as the series goes on she discovers she is no ordinary beastman because her form (a tanuki) comes with interesting powers (stretching limbs, growing tail, giant ears, etc.), but she never seems to want to learn how to control these abilities in case she gets into danger. Instead she discovers the ability and then act like it dosesn't afterwards.
Other than that, it is a solid watch
Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)
Good movie but some very questionable writing
This movie is probably one of the better video game movies made yet. That being said there are some moments that make me questions some of the decisions written in the story.
1. I find Sonic freaking out about Tom moving to the city to be rather childish. He compares Tom moving from small town to the big city to his situation but they are totally different scenarios.
2. Sonic couldn't run up the building to get his rings? The writers do know how fast he can run, right? He should've been able to scale the building in seconds, grab his rings, and been back in time to use them.
Now these are just story gripes but all in all it was an enjoyable movie
S.W.A.T. (2017)
Good action. Questionable writing
This show has good action love it for that but one of the sub plots from the first episode (black teen ACCIDENTALLY shot by a member of SWAT) rears it's head in the 6 episode and apparently the kid is having ptsd over what was an obvious accident. They did NOT mean to shoot him but he acts like they specifically target him. WHAT?! Who thinks like that?
Drifting Dragons (2020)
Who decided this should be a thing?
So let me get this straight. This is anime where we watch people kill totally innocent and almost extinct animals and then we watch them cook and eat them? Hard pass
Freaks (2018)
X-men without Xavier's school
Freaks is a psychological thriller about abnormal people (freaks) trying to survive a world where people hunt them down and either kill or detain them.
Basically freaks is X-Men but without the politics, action, and Xavier's school for gifted youth.
I loved the film and the actors did a stellar job. My only gripe is the little girl character sometimes annoyed me but the actor is playing a little kid that has no idea about the world outside her house and the child actor does a great job at portraying that
Sorcerous Stabber Orphen (2020)
Watch the original anime
This anime is such an awful garbage heap compared to the original. Studio Deen has stopped caring about the quality of their work. The story is rushed, the characters are awful, and the main motive for Orphen is solved in 3 episodes so now we just watch him do whatever without any interesting motive
9-1-1: Lone Star (2020)
The stupidity in the pilot
Now I didn't care for the "woke" stuff but I couldn't handle the first 30 seconds of this show. It starts with an old security officer, who is so glued to the football game on his phone he doesn't realize he is sticking a tin foil wrapped burrito in a microwave. Now I ain't a genius but even I know what does and does NOT go into a microwave. Anyway as the burrito catches fire this dude is still dedicated to NOT DROPPING HIS PHONE to fully take care of his situation. Look I get that people do dumb stuff but at least put some common sense into your writing please
Ni no kuni (2019)
Just keep it as a game
The movie was alright, it was enjoyable but it raises questions that it never answers.
About halfway through the movie we hear about Beladon, a city that was attacked by a past ruler of Evermore. It is NEVER explained why the king attacked it, just that it was for Evermore's protection.
Also the king had a son he handed to Beladon and, AGAIN, it isn't really given any depth of explanation as to WHY he was given to Beladon. It was just used as a way to give the villain of the movie a backstory and it is never explored beyond that.
If this WERE a game, it would have gone into more depth and character for everyone involved with the story but this was almost a 2 hour movie and they crammed it with so much crap it barely built up a decent story.
What I DID like was when the main protagonist in the end decides to stay with the princess in the other world which seems great since in the other world he is in a wheel chair, his crush is going out with his best friend, and would have to go to high school. I would want to stay in the fantasy world too.

Spider-Man (2017)
A good show with poor execution
This show was NOT made with the passion pf recent series it is meant as a cash grab that fills with WAY too many ideas in a single season. I am okay with the team up of Iron Man but introducing Miles Morales Spider-Man in the next episode is asinine. It is moving too quickly. It is like the creators looked at EVERYTHING containing and jamming it into one entire season for a show. Save some material for later seasons guys.
And I can't accept some of the stupidity this show has. The same episode with the Miles Morales Spider-Man is filled with it.
First off Gwen says "maybe having a secret identitiy isn't the way to go. Look at the Avengers." Spider-Man needs the secret to protect his friends and family. The Avengers mostly don't have a family and their friends are other superheroes so they don't need a secret identity.
Second Miles immediately tells everyone where he, the NEW spider-man, lives. Causing spider slayers to close in on his location. This kid got accepted into an ALL GENIUS school and he pulls off the stupidest thing any hero could do.
