Walker (2021)
Can't hear the actors over the darn background music!
This show has so many problems. The one that drives me nuts is they play music in almost every scene and it's so loud that I have trouble hearing the dialogue. Seriously, they have calling a friend music, driving with your partner music, chatting in a bar music, flashback music, walking the dog music, setting the table music....sheesh.
Next is the obvious woke check list. Walker's partner is a tough Mexican-American woman. She has an African-American boyfriend. Walker's brother is gay and about to be marry an Asian-American (I think). Walker's son is getting hit on by this Asian girl at school, so they might become an item. His daughter seems to be hitting it off with this Italian-American (I think) she met while doing community service. It just seems to fake and forced when they go crazy like this.
Also, this Walker does not fight like the Chuck Norris version. This one seems to do nothing. He is still haunted by his wife's death and trying to put his family together after an 8 month assignment. He feels there is more to his wife death and he wants to find out what that is, and his family life suffers over it.
I've seen four episodes now and I'm not sure I can do anymore. I keep hoping that things will improve and we will start seeing some action, but not yet. It appears that the CW would rather have a family drama instead of an action show.
The Blacklist: Anne (2021)
I love to watch Spader work
I gave up watching this show some time ago, but noticed the reviews and ratings for this particular episode, so I gave it a shot, and I'm glad that I did.
James Spader gets to show us the caring side of Red and it's wonderful to watch. The actress who plays Anne is wonderful as well. You can see that Red wishes he could leave his old life behind and retire with this nice lady, but at the same time you see the tortured soul that realizes it can never really be.
I really miss this show, or at least the show it use to be. I hope they can turn it around somehow so I can start watching on a regular basis again. I heard that Season 9 has been approved, but unless they can end this crap with Lizzy and her dead mom revenge thing, I don't see that happening. One can dream.
Cosmic Sin (2021)
Bruce Willis takes money over integrity.
They must have paid Bruce Willis a good amount of money for him to actually agree to do this movie, or maybe he lost a bet. I suppose we will never know.
I've already put in more effort reviewing this movie than the writers, actors, and everyone else did making it, so there you have it.
2067 (2020)
Boring and lots of crying
The only thing sci-fi about this movie was a time machine that basically looked like a piece of concrete sewer pipe with flashing lights on it. So much talking and crying made this boring as hell. I kept waiting for something exciting to happen, but nope.
I got about 3/4 of the way through the movie and couldn't watch anymore. The future is full of tears (lots of crying).
Nobody (2021)
Bob Odenkirk was great in this
This movie came out of nowhere and it was so good!
Bob Odenkirk reminds me a lot of Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson). They both have a kind of monotone voice but it's a type of voice that pulls you in. You can just listen to these guys talk for hours. Odenkirk was great in this role. It's they typical guy who has a secret bad ass background story, but done very well. I especially enjoyed the more realistic fight scenes. The guy is awesome but he gets hit and hurt as well.
I also enjoyed the music selection in this movie. Heck the song selections made me laugh.
Do yourself a favour and go watch this now.
Legacies (2018)
Pretty people doing stupid things
I'm assuming most people gave this show a shot because they enjoyed TVD and or The Originals, but it's just a silly teen relationship drama with a terrible looking monster to fight on occasion.
It has pretty girls in cute school skirts and werewolf shirtless boys, so there is eye candy for everyone. If they stuck to fighting evil and kept the teen drama crap to a minimum then it might be an decent show. However, they seem to spend more time with relationship issues then fighting monsters.
I gave it a chance, but I just don't care about sisters fighting, does that guy like that girl, angry misunderstood boy running away from school, etc.
Legacies: Salvatore: The Musical! (2021)
Why does every show need a damn musical episode these days
I can't speak for everyone obviously, but people watch a certain show because of what they want to watch. I believe most people gave this show a shot because they enjoyed Vampire Diaries and or The Originals. Thus they when hoping to get more of the same with this show.
It is hard enough watching this show because of all the teen relationship crap, but now they give up a musical episode. I never understood why many shows these days want to have an episode like this. If I wanted to watch a musical, I would be watching a damn musical show like Glee or something.
The Craft: Legacy (2020)
Cashing in on the original movies name
If you can't improve upon a original show or movie, than don't make a sequel or a remake.
There is nothing in this show that improves upon the original. In fact, it is worse in almost every way.
How in the hell did they get David Duchovny and Michelle Monaghan to do this? It would be an easy pay day for them but I'm sure the pay wasn't much and to hurt you name doing crap like this....sheesh.
Anyways, as others here have said, this movie is rushed and doesn't make sense in many spots. You will see repeated stuff from the first movie, like the chanting, levitating scene, etc, plus you will see insane stuff like a witch with a blow torch for a finger. Nothing else much to say.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
Some good bits, but mostly boring so far
The action scenes are good, but there is just too much blah blah blah.
It's only been two episodes but it appears to be nothing special. It's watchable but contains filler material that nobody cares about, like Falcon's sister and her kids and how they are broke and the bank won't give them a loan. Who cares?
Disney really needs to figure out that people watch super hero movies to watch super heroes fight bad guys. Not to have political agendas shoved in our face or to see some heroes family deal with some issue.
Anyways, so far it's watchable but nothing special. Hopefully it gets better.
The Blacklist: The Cyranoid (No. 35) (2021)
Agent Park....65 pounds of FBI fury..And super Liz is back.
The last couple of episodes were much better because there was no Lizzy, but now she is back and the bull crap is back with her. I won't get into the super intelligence that is Lizzy, or the mentally challenged FBI (don't change codes to our super secret base after key member leaves to become evil super god), as I have covered that in prior posts.
However, I would like to know how Agent Park got her job at the FBI? This chick is maybe 5 feet tall and weighs maybe 65 pounds. A strong breeze would knock her over. Sounds like the perfect field agent to me.
Why is the task force still trying to make excuses for super Lizzy? Harold saying stuff like, I know she is breaking people out of prison and trying to take down jets filled with innocent people and stuff but I have to believe she has a good reason for doing this. The rest of the morons in the task force are equally pathetic.
For the love of all that is good a holy, please end this show. Do it for Spader, so he can take his much needed talent to a show that is worthy of him.
The Blacklist: The Wellstone Agency (No. 127) (2021)
A very nice tribute
A nice episode in memory of Clark Middleton. A very touching speech given by Reddington at the end.
Superman & Lois (2021)
Seriously?
Their one kid gets the QB football position and I'm thinking, that does not seem fair, considering he has powers, but then Lois & Clark talk like he may not have powers, yet in the opening of the show, they show the kid throwing a football and breaking the rope of a tire swing. Can normal kids do this?
Then Clark is talking to the doctor on the phone about his mother being past and he flies super fast to Smallville and the doctor is like "How did you..." and that apparently is good enough. No need to think too much about how the doctor was just on the phone with him in Metropolis like 5 seconds ago. I know that wouldn't interest me one bit.
After saving a plant from a melt down, superman slams down hard on the ground in this "super pose" breaking pavement for no reason at all. Does he do this to show how awesome he is? This is not who he is as a person.
Clark is not home as much as he wants because of his superman duties, and his mother tells him that he needs to be home more and put his family first. Sure, it's easy to say that, and with normal people that would be true, but his mother is basically telling him not to worry about that plane with 300 passengers about to crash and die because family comes first.
For some reason, someone decided the best spot for a router was in the barn in the middle of a beam which can not be easily accessed. So when it just so happens to need resetting, one of his kids falls trying to reset it. They should have had swinging blades going back and forth next to the router as well.
You would think hiding Clark's spaceship deserves more thought than a padlock on the floor and a tarp over the ship. The kids find his ship right away, so basically if anyone else was in that barn, they would have found it as well.
This is only half way through the first show. Personally, I don't see anything here that's any good. It just seems all too forced and boring to me. When they start to think that maybe one or both of their kids have powers, Clark does not want to tell them he is superman, but why not? He says that he is afraid of losing them, but they are going to find out anyways, so isn't better they hear it from him?
Watch for yourself and see what you think, but unless they make serious changes, it's going to be like every other silly WB superhero show. You would think that the CW would have learned how to make a good superhero show by now. Arrow & Flash started out good at first, but they messed it up quickly. They seem determined though, I'll give them that.
Doctor Who: The Timeless Children (2020)
Just can't watch this crap
I don't blame Jodie, as the writing was just terrible. I was looking forward to having a female doctor, but I don't think any woman could have made this work.
Here are the problems I felt led to the destruction of this show:
1. The writing was crap.
2. WAY too preachy. We watch Dr. Who so we can be entertained, not to be told how we are all terrible people.
3. The Doctor use to be clever. This doctor seems to be confused all the time.
4. Too many companions. When there are so many companions, you have to give them things to do, and that takes precious time away from what we want to watch. We don't care about "The Fam" (I hate that term) and their human issues. Plus they are boring.
5. What the heck is the doctor wearing? We understand that each incarnation has their own taste and style, but it's impossible to take this doctor serious while looking like Mork from Orc's sister.
6. Destroying canon material with complete indifference. This Timeless Children episode was just insane. What were you people thinking?
I'll stop here, but I'm sure I've missed other issues. The last two years should be forgotten. They never happened. It was either all a dream or something that happened in the matrix, or whatever.
They need to start fresh. First get writers that CARE about the show and actually have talent. Find a new doctor, even another woman. I feel that Jodie did not get a proper chance, so it's only fair we give a woman a real shot at being the doctor. Have ONE companion, and NO preaching.
Let's get Doctor Who back!
The Blacklist: The Fribourg Confidence (No. 140) (2021)
Better. However...
Much better without Liz. However, making her out as this super villain from out of nowhere isn't going to fly. Reddington has spent decades becoming the Genius-level world player that he is. Now you want us to believe that Lizzy absorbed this talent from Red by osmosis over seven years? Okay.
Additionally, having Aram place a bug at that table at the most ideal time ever, and then having the lady at the table call and move thing up, giving the FBI the new Date/Time/Location is just sad writing. The plot needs it to happen, so it does. Stop doing this.
Personally, I only see two ways out of this mess they've made:
1. After all of this crap Liz has done, there is no way she can come back, so kill her off and get back to doing "The List" part of The Blacklist with Raymond and whoever, or
2. Kill off Liz and start a new show called "Reddington" with a new cast.
The Blacklist: Elizabeth Keen (No. 1) (2021)
It kills me to say this, but I'm done with this show
It has become the Lizzy show, and everyone else is stupid compared to her. Even Red is making dumb decisions now. Apparently Liz is now super spy and can do anything she wants, and manipulate anyone into helping her.
I couldn't even watch the last few minutes of this laughable piece of crap.
I will start watching again when they kill Liz and make Red the star again, or better yet, cancel this show and start a new "Reddington" show.
Legacies: We're Not Worthy (2021)
Looks like this show is dead now too
When the show started it was basically monster of the week with some relationship junk thrown in. It was never a great show, but you could switch off your brain and watch some pretty people kill some monsters.
These days it more about feelings and hugging and crying. Pass.
The Great Escapists (2021)
If they dropped the "story" part, I would have loved it
I really enjoyed watching them build stuff from whatever they had lying about. Sure, there may have been liberties taken here and there, but it was still fun to watch.
However, I could not stand the story/acting part of the show. I suppose that it was intended for kids. It's too bad, because I really did enjoy watching them build stuff. If they cut down on the story/acting part, it would have made the show enjoyable for EVERYONE.
Letterkenny (2016)
Hard Yes
Great show. Only thing I would change (for me personally) is a little less of the goth-like meth dudes and use that time for more Michelle Mylet. All the other characters are great and entertaining.
The Blacklist: 16 Ounces (2021)
It's killing me to watch this show die because of Lizzy
This is, err WAS an amazing show. Spader has created arguably one of the best characters ever. However, this show started dying when they moved away from the "List". Each episode focused on a new villain to take down and Red would help take them out while usually having his own reasons for doing so. This show is and always should be able Reddington, not Liz. It was much easier taking Lizzy with smaller doses in these self-contained episodes.
The big problem started when they moved away from the "List" and created long story arcs that nobody cares about. Additionally, Lizzy became more and more ridiculous. She loves Red, she hate Red, back and forth. She can also disobey orders and basically do whatever the hell she wants and all is forgiven when she decides to bless everyone by returning to work. Just wow.
Viewers have stopped caring about this whole Katerina thing LONG ago, yet they keep beating this dead horse. Lizzy's off the rails again and won't even entertain the idea of listening to Red's explanation. Her boss and colleagues seem perfectly fine with the idea of her hunting down and killing Red even though she is (or was) an FBI agent. Blowing up a hospital room is just fine. You do you, Liz.
Either get back to the old format that made the show awesome, or kill off Liz and start a new and better show called "Reddington". Spader is just a privilege to watch. If the network wants a hit show, go with the second option.
Star Trek: Discovery: Su'Kal (2020)
I just don't understand this show
So much blah blah blah. Why even have other characters? Bernam just does whatever she wants anyways, so why even have a chain of command?
The doctor's boyfriend telling him NOT to go on an away mission because it could be dangerous? Yeah, because who ever thought a doctor what ever have to beam down on a mission?
Tilly as first officer. What has she ever done in the past that would make Saru decide she is capable of this promotion? Tilly is on-screen with the enemy and hits her with a zinger, and they show the crew looking at each other and smirking. I kept waiting for someone to say "Good one Captain!"
I'm not sure why they have a fleet admiral either. They either change his mind or Bernam does it anyway. Great lesson for kids out there. Don't listen to people more educated and experienced than you, just do what you want.
The crying and emotional crap all the time. I thought is was hilarious that the away time wanted to teach this child some emotional stability, I mean wow!
Seriously, what is the point of the non-binary's ghost friend? Why do we need to see any of that interaction?
I love the crew celebrating Georgio. Sure, she was an evil leader in the mirror universe who basically killed for sport, and only thought of herself, and basically told everyone to p*ss off when they tried to talked to her, but you know, other than that, she was okay, and a little less evil than she use to be. *Cheers*
Everyone has already covered the "Whisper Mode" thing, so I would get into that. So annoying.
I don't even know where to begin with regards to this kid causing the burn with emotions or whatever. Ug.
There are just so many things about this show that don't make sense. The CGI is nice and I like Saru and Pike, but that's about it. I hope they can turn things around but it does not look good. I can only watch it now by skipping past all of the crying and useless "feelings" stuff. *Sigh*
The Umbrella Academy (2019)
Very enjoyable and the music was amazing
I'm a few episodes in and I am going to binge the rest. I will admit that it has some slow moments but it constitutes to improve. The music selection was a big stand out for me. The person in charge of the music deserves an award.
The Flash (2014)
It was a good show, but can't watch it anymore.
Flash started out so good, but with each new season it becomes more of a soap opera than anything else. Let's talk about your feelings, blah blah blah.
Additionally, these people are suppose to be brilliant, but everyone else in the world can figure things out before they do. OMG, it's painful waiting for them to catch up. Where do they get the money from? Is everyone living off Barry's pay? Barry has the best job in the world too, he doesn't even need to show up unless he feel like it. Where do I get a job like that?
Because this is on the CW, we need to insert a gay character now, and might as well make her African-American, and from the future. The CW ensures that every single show they air has a cast that looks like the United Nations, and a gay or trans or whatever.
I do not have a problem with diversity or equal rights. In fact, I think it is long over due. I do however have a problem with networks shoving in my face constantly. I want to watch a super hero show, not Dawson's Creek.
I tried watching that new Charmed show because I loved the old show. Good Lord, that show is "In your face" PC crap. Lines like "I don't need a man to open a door". Also, they just had to make a sister gay. Plus they can't make the sisters white, so they made them....whatever the heck they were.
Anyways, watch the first couple seasons of The Flash, then find something else to watch.
Class (2016)
Really need to be gay?
Almost all new shows seem to have a gay person, and this show is no exception. I don't have a problem with this, however, I do have a problem when they throw it in my face. At one point the show has two guys in bed, with the one guy spooning the other, and the guy that is getting penetrated has this big smile on his face as dude goes to town on him. What the heck does this have to do with Doctor Who?
There are many other issues with this show. The characters are boring and you don't care about them at all. I have watched four episodes now, and I think that might be enough. I continued to watch and hoped it would improve, but it continues to disappoint me.
I'm not sure how many more episodes their are but I have had enough.
It's too bad, I was hoping for a good Who spin off show.
