Annie Live! (2021)
Amazing production!
Casting was perfect! My favorite production of Annie I've ever seen. Taraji P Henson was perfect as Ms Hannigan. All of the child actors were incredibly talented singers and dancers, especially Annie. Celina Smith played Annie so well, so sweet and hopeful. Nicole Scherzinger stole the show every time she was on screen, such a gorgeous dancer and brings so much energy and fun to the character. Harry Connick Jr, while I admit he does look weird in a bald cap, his jazzy voice gives the songs a new life.
Overall a beautifully shot production with excellent actors.
RuPaul's Drag Race: Grand Finale (2020)
Loved it
They made a very entertaining finale. I could have done without the up close mouth part but it was nice that they were trying new things.
Full disclosure, I came in rooting for Crystal. This episode Crystal really delivered in the video package with that bizarre take on I'm like a bird, Gigi had a very cool set and did a pretty cool , very 80s number, Jaida just wanted to show off her dancing abilities which some of you may have seen as not trying, but girl, she was trying. I could never dance like that or look that good.
I'm glad Ru let them all dance for the crown because I too could not choose just based on that, they're all so different. IMO for the final dance number Jaida did the most and she did it the best. Designing that reveal that turned into a cape that turned into a crown blew my mind. I was left wanting more from Crystal and Gigi. I just felt like they didn't really have a goal in mind when they were dancing. Gigi did have great expressions though and a cool reveal but it didn't really go with the song. I think it's been such an incredibly talented season and given the rube goldberg machine that is drag race, Jaida killed it every episode in one way or another. Even when she stumbled in the One Woman Show episode when she was in the bottom she did that iconic Prince number and had me right back rooting for her.
Overall an incredible season and any of them could have won. But I'm really happy for Jaida. Also, Gigi and Crystal will be fine. Gigi's incredibly talented and she's only in her early 20s. Crystal is one of the most creative queens I've ever seen and I can't wait to see what she does in the future. They all worked so hard and I'm so proud of all of them. And I bow to my queen Jaida Essence Hall
RuPaul's Drag Race: Choices 2020 (2020)
Fantastic episode
Everyone was so smart and funny in the debate. Way better than the season 4 debate, in my opinion. They went for comedy in the debate section but still managed to talk about substantive issues in the workroom. Jaida did so great in that challenge and i was so happy to see her get a win. Widow is a powerful force and Jackie put her whole soul into that lip sync. It was incredible to watch.
Night Gowns (2020)
The Reason I Downloaded Quibi
Incredible show! Sasha is one of my favorite drag queens because of her artistry, humor, compassion and intellect. She introduced so many incredible performers and used her platform to tell their stories. It's so beautiful to see all these different styles of drag that I personally had never been exposed to. Each was so touching, enthralling and personal. Couldn't recommend highly enough
Saturday Night Live: Margot Robbie/The Weeknd (2016)
What a Great Episode...
Over the years, I have come to expect SNL to be hit or miss. I watch it every week sifting through the episode looking for traces of comedy rubies, silver and sometimes gold. This episode... a beautiful comedy diamond. Every skit was exceptionally well done. There were several moments where I had to pause the show because I was laughing so hard. SNL seems to be in a very good place right now. They have funny and likable cast members such as Cecily Strong, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and the newcomer Mikey Day, who on his first episode already seems to be the star of the show. They also have smart writers who know how to compose a damn good skit and effectively use their cast and guest star. Kudos SNL, looking forward to the rest of the season.
