Jeremiah Johnson (1972)
Classic of Classics!
This story sets the bar!
One that is "THE" challenger to over exceed;i.e., to be "THE" one that have literally climbed the mountain & exceeded all expectations.
Maybe...
It's like that ole song by the Dave Clark 5, whom also set a precedence in capturing "THE" stellar contractural affinity the 1st in contractal from in tlheir efforts in copyrights...!
Earth to Boomer,,, The conception of setting the goal of achievement that has been achieved-Is of a singular in time, the very 1st, a juncture-if you will, of what will echo throughout time. ...
A stoy that must be told through time again & again; i.e., an American Hero (Jeremiah Johnson), of his bravery, integrity, decency & emathyy...!!
The Secret: Dare to Dream (2020)
Three Wonderful Takeaways...
I haven't written a review in quite sometime and yet it goes without saying how powerful this story moved me.
Words can't describe it, so I thought to provide captions that has become the norm for me to record that depict profound adages or aphorism, if you will...
"There are only two ways to live your life, One is as though nothing is a miracle, The other is as though everything is..."--The Secret: Dare to Dream
"Coincidence is Gods way of remaining anonymous-also, He said ever person should ask themselves if this is a friendly universe-why?, because your answer determines your life..."-Albert Einstein.
This is a beautiful story with great actors that prove their acting abilities leaving me with such sigh of hope and that wonder in feeling good! A movie not to be missed....
The Man Who Fell to Earth (2022)
Buckle up & enjoy the ride...
Extraordinary! Such an amazing science fiction story that evolves around technology & human emotions that saves the worlds.
Chiwetel Ejiofor, Naomie Harris & Bill Nighy were spectacular with stellar performances! And, a very special performance of the ever charismatic & upbeat of Clarke Peters, whose performance was especially noteworthy!
In addition, the startling performance of a well informed Rob Delaney, who's instantaneous (Johnny-on-the-spot) in providing matters outlining economical & social global turmoil--is just mesmerizing. Definitely, need to keep an eye out on this one's future endeavors!
There's much more stellar actor performances that you've just have to watch & see!
I employ all fans of human drama, emotions, suspense & thriller to watch--that's exceptionally spiced with aliens, terror & action to boot!
Alaska Daily: It's Not Personal (2022)
Circled back for update from last...
I'm enjoying this from its start & up until this episode that have given time to introduce & develop the stories core characters.
In addition...
Most impressive is the Alaskan rugged terrain that's apparent in their big city & outskirts affects from their extremities in weather. Its Arctic weather is with long, very cold winters & short cool summers. I don't know per se; however, I did looked it up...:)
Thus far, the producers have chosen well in filming during the Alaskan summer season. Although, it may have been in British Columbia, regardless the magic of filming provides us viewers the flavor of actual living experiences from its metropolitan Juneau, and a brief stay over at its outer countryside.
I'm eagerly to continue this well produced film & look forward to how this continues in character development, that will surely be affected by the Alaskan climate & terrain. Mix them all together, I suspect this will be a most drama filled, thriller driven with touches of humor & of human conflicted stories. One heck of a series in decency...
Alaska Daily (2022)
Great Start That Highlights Hillary Swank...
I'm not inclined to write reviews of a TV Series on its very first episode; however, this story that covers on "News Reporting" is a testament to todays news media that's piqued my interest--due to current news coverage on political divisions that stem from the lack of fact-checking-that IMO, is deceptive or a downright lie. It doesn't stop there, as it's used to weaponize or sway public opinion.
I look forward to where this story leads to with high expectations. I'm thinking it's going to be great as it's first episode so inclines...
Hillary Swan, has been a favorite actress of mine over her life's career. She's one of the best & I don't hesitate to watch her in her endeavors. In this story, her role is an aggressive character, that's a perfect fit! I admire her feisty-no-nonsense role she plays & she does it very well. The setting of the beautiful Alaskan terrain, is in itself a wonder of nature's fauna & flora. I hope more of it is featured.
A few of the character actors are familiar that adds to a comfort level knowing the story has been casted well.
Again, this is just the very first episode & I'm giving it high marks as the maximum for a typical TV Series for its talented ensemble, it's storyline & terrain or setting. I believe this will pan out to be a great & addictive show that IMO on merits of quality, decency & modesty. Why?-comparative to the progressive nature of other present day TV Series viewing that's quite the opposite. It goes without saying, some of those things I've seen, are things I cannot unsee & it's disturbing.
I'll circle back to provide further updates in reviews as the episodes progress... CU.
The Sopranos (1999)
What started great, fizzled with disappointment
The Soprano's TV series start with a fantastic start emulating The Godfather in many ways... Yet, having its own persona that was compelling & addictive.
Season 1 through 5, were very entertaining; however, midway through season 5, it started to become tedious due to its repetitive plots.
The storylines in Season 6; episodes began to sway, causing the lack of focus in attention. It became a struggle to get to the end for a closure that was senselessly disappointing.
Perhaps it was writers block to complete this production with what was hopefully anticipated-for an exciting & fore filling closure to a stunning series.
Very disappointing to what start great & at its precipices-fizzled with great disappointment!
Dark Winds (2022)
Excited to experience more...!
What can go wrong with a Tony Hillerman story? Welp, these actors are superb for each of their role & the setting is as authentic as it gets! Thus far this is playing out to be a most interesting & entertaining escape from one's reality.
Night Sky (2022)
Can't wait for Season 2...!
A fascinating Science fiction tale with great veteran & upcoming actors. A storyline that stretches one's imagination that's far reaching & captivating. Season 1 provided a strong basis for what's to come next & with eager anticipation...
Outer Range (2022)
A Lacking SciFi Thriller...
Enthralled with the trailer & advertisements to what looked to be a favorable watch. It was & it wasn't. It was intriguing, suspenseful & an action thriller. It's basis for a science-fiction parallel world was subtle & somewhat chilling. But what wasn't, was the insane singing & idiotic dancing scenes that in my opinion ruined the show for lack of seriousness that falls directly into the hands of its director & the producers & executive producers who allowed this to be produced!
Shadowplay (2020)
Compelling
Hopelessness can drive people to extraordinary lengths that only their faith can restore.
I found this story aftermath of World War II, intriguing & one of enlightenment. The storyline, actors & cinematography are quite good. In fact their very convincing that makes this story come to life... It's a far cry of realism from the depressing scenes of mass destruction & dissolution with people in destitution.
The redeem factor I took away from this story was in a remarkable scene--when asked if one had a bag of gold (lots of it), what should one spend it on in such a destitute country? The answer was, the future, spend it on the country's future. To that extent, I plan to watch this series to its end. Awaiting season 2...
Fringe (2008)
Borders of time & wonderments of minds...
Fringe borders on the likes of, "Falling Skies" with a tinge of early "Warehouse 13"...
It's captivating that stretches your imagination... It's a love story, a fantasy, an absurdity & most of all, a wonderment in humor & tragedy. It's a tell tale challenge of these five main characters that become a closed knit family that together overcome unimaginative obstacles that are against the laws of nature--Impossible or is it improbable?
It's a satire with all the elements of humanity, like a brilliant impasto canvas painting, by the likes of Van Gogh, Rembrandt or even Jackson Pollock...
I encourage SciFi audiences to watch--for what's more important in its worth, than its meaning to have experienced...?
Just my 2¢, that I've taken the advice of Aaron Sorkin, "Why say three words when you can say ten?" Or, more....
Flesh and Bone (1993)
An Amazing Surprise
This was a delightful discovery of budding stars in their earlier days in becoming what they are today... famous & admired for their great acting skills & talents they've portrayed time & time again in major films! It was amazing to see how young & promising these actors & actresses displayed in such earlier production settings. It seems a lifetime ago. This film is truly a gem & well worth watching!
Raised by Wolves: Control (2022)
Hanging on tooth & nails...
I must say this particular episode has taken this series into its next level. The cinematography is spectacular & character development is superb! The story has just jumped from captivating to intriguing with such wonderful promises. I can't wait for the next episode...!
Band of Brothers (2001)
Outstanding
"Grandpa (his grandson asked), where you ever in the war? Grandpa slowly & deliberately responded with great humility, 'No... I served in the 'Company of Heroes.'-Richard (Dick) Winters
At age 13, my father fought in WWII as a guerrilla fighter in the Philippines, serving under his father with US soldiers who evaded encampment from the Japanese Army. He was a quiet and introspective man, my father was. The only tangible remembrance of the war was his terrible neck injury where mounds of scar tissues rested.
At age 20, on his way home from the University of Illinois Chicago, he met & married my mom in Hawaii.
Subsequently, he was drafted into the US Army. He severed 30 years with tours in the Korean War, two tours in the Vietnam War. He retired at Presidio Letterman Army Hospital, SF, CA... As a First Sargent, Head Nurse & Instructor US Medical Corps.
All through his military career he never revealed and always evaded any of his war experiences or stories. Always staring in the distance never saying a word.
However, at age 14 & 17, I did witness the effects of the aftermath of his Vietnam tours. Un-appetite for red meat or chicken breasts and sudden car engine backfires or fireworks would have him scrambling to gather us for cover. This lasted several long months after each tour...
My dad never drank, instead applied himself to working two or three jobs at a time to secure our family future.
Sorry for my long winded & disjointed narrative...
However, drawing a correlation to the effects of the wars to the men of Easy Company of the 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, during World War II... I'd like to think their offsprings would be as proud of their fathers bravery as I am of my father.
I have seen this series many times over and as I continue to progress In viewing, I continue to learn and find more incredible factors on why I would never share such horrors that war forces you to witness, experience & suffer in living through... There aren't any words that would explain it without revealing your soul.
Reacher (2022)
Enjoying this series immensely...
Thus far, the show is pretty good. The storyline, actors & filming are all up-to-par. Most of all, the series shows great promises in developing into a rather enjoyable & lengthy series. Keeping my fingers crossed for the best for this to materialize as hoped...
Meet Joe Black (1998)
A Classic Romance
Outstanding performances... Ah, to be trapped in first bliss of romance for which there is no escape that moves your heart ever hurling from imagines of feelings of what is and what can be! This is one of my favorite shows that I've returned to watch many times over as it warms my heart! The affluence of grandeur, the opulence in attire, the ambience of soft subtle music--culminating into a crescendo of such mosaic wonder that it fills one's senses... all under the guise of Father Time.
Archive 81 (2022)
Highly anticipate the next episodes to follow...
One heck of a riveting suspenseful story plagued with subtle misdirects that keeps you off balance. Clever cinematography that blends past & present visual effects that stimulates the senses. Thus far, a brilliant series.
The Silent Sea (2021)
Poor Planning
Sadly, a production of this magnitude falls flat for its poorly thought out imagination for lack of realism! It nullifies the caption of one's imagination. For example; roaming a powerless space station, with prior knowledge, with flashlights? Jeez, what happened to infrared shielding? Also, how do you get the magnitude of cement needed to construct a space station of the size of what is seen in the show? Please, spare me the ineptness...
Tides (2021)
Inspirational
Preferring science over misguided understanding. Where analysis succeeds in truths that excels the betterment & quality of life. Now mix it with fiction, the stuff made from dreams--imagination can become reality. This story of our planets strife on its last hope for survival, makes its ending one that admonishes the conviction of our humanity within ourselves to survive with integrity & dignity. I thoroughly enjoyed the development of its plot & the drama that led to an inspiring new beginning...
Station Eleven (2021)
Sign of the times...!
A Helter-skelter of today's dilemma on sanity vs insanity to the absurdity... A captivating rabbit-hole wonder, that questions your reality of what changes COVID & Climate Change has it's affect on our economy, politics & world conflicts. This show is not allowing you to escape--rather, living the stuff your dreams are made of....
La casa de papel (2017)
The pleasure of the ending of a story is, discovering the end itself.
What an amazingly journey... A cleverly done 5 series production of this fast paced, action packed & most passionate drama that keeps you in a wondrous tailspin.
The actors performances converge in such passion that it transforms you into responding in empathy for their heroine deeds and actions--"outstanding!"
This is one enjoyable show! IMHO, the mark of a great show is that its end brings you sheer joy....
Another Life (2019)
Time that can't be taken back...!
Tried that I made... Into the middle of season 1 episode 3... I stopped watching for the absurdity of it all. This creation was poorly produced from nuts to bolts. Don't be surprised for disappointments!
The Marksman (2005)
8.9
Liam Nesson almost ever--stand on the good side of justice! KUDOS... Please keep it coming...! For the sake of added verbiage/-Yadda, yadda, yadda ...!!!
Lost in Space (2018)
9.9
If life escapes you... Family comes to mind & what better way to have it remind you of what this Robinson family has done through its creators! Kudos to it backers & the staring castes who displayed what family really means--!
Cursed (2020)
Unexpected gem...
Like all good things, this epic started at a snails paced only to build upon what I would not have imagined--a spectacle of a reborn tale! I sorely await season two & more to come...
