Dune (2021)

Too bad it's so long

I believe the film is actually pretty good, but the time is far more than what they needed to tell the story. I haven't read the book and I am not aware about whether it's a worthy adaptation or not, but I think that they shouldn't have added that many flashforwards and flying scenes; it's time consuming and most are unnecessary, specially if there are going to be more movies where you can explore those aspects.

Another problem is the sound. Conversations are good, but some pre-fight scenes go far up than anyone would like to hear at the cinema.

To sum it up: good and entertaining but too long and loud at times.

Dash & Lily (2020)

Cute

When you get yourself into a teenage Christmas love story, you know what you expect to get, and this series will definitely give it to you. Actually it's quite cute, and even though it's filled with cliches, it's original.

I admit, the first episodes were better (solid 8 stars), but as the story progresses some things start to fall out of place (barely a 5 or 6 in my opinion). It's presented in a way made me expect it to be a little more introspective and serious, but at some point it evolves into a typical cheesy drama. It became disappointing at some point, but it's quite short, so it wasn't hard to finish it at all.

The biggest flaw is that the characters supposed to fall in love have no actual chemistry. The whole story was quite engaging while they were apart, but as soon as they started to approach, that couple stopped making sense. Don't get me wrong, I do not dislike the characters or the acting, it's just that they do not have that "something" as a couple.

Other things that may upset you are poor acting from some side characters or annoying cliches, but when you watch this kind of shows it's highly unlikely you can avoid those things, so I'll assume you already expect it.

Zero Day (2002)

Disposable teens

Most people in the reviews first saw the film and then dug deeper in the Columbine story. For me, it was absolutely backwards.

As a teen I happened to be really into reading about shootings and mass murders and I already felt a certain empathy towards the Columbine murderers. I know that sounds absolutely crazy, but that's why I think everyone should watch this movie. Here you can observe how someone can be driven to do such a terrible thing and how you can still feel so saddened for them. It's a great film that challenges people to see all perspectives involved in a story, even though the outcomes may seem to have clear villains.

And for people who are already interested in crime and have a background, I believe this movie is the best school shooting movie based on Columbine.

Seed of Chucky (2004)

Makes Halloween funny as hell

Before this one, I had only watched the first child's play movie. As a child, the sight of Chucky terrorized me, and, when i became a horror lover, I was still not very keen on watching it, fearing it would be too scary. It ended up being a major disappointment. So now that October has begun, I decided to give the saga another chance and convinced my parents to see an horror movie with me. I can't explain why I chose this one. I guess it was just the first one that netflix recommended. It was a huge hit. We laughed a lot and my mom still got kinda grossed out and surprised at some scenes, which is even more entertaining than just plain humor. A horror movie that doesn't take itself too seriously, diminishing any criticism it could get. Brilliant.

A great film that slasher fans can see with their easily scared friends this Halloween.

Cobra Kai (2018–2025)

My family loved it!

I really liked this show. My family watched the week before i got to it and recommended it to me vehemently. They were right.

In general is a great show for a family, but better if there are no kids under 12 or so, sometimes it gets a bit inadequate. Nevertheless, it's super cool for most age ranks. My parents loved it bc it has that nostalgia aura about the 80s that parents just adore. The fact that not all main characters are teens was also a point for them. My brother loves it because the characters are about his age, they are badass and have troubles that, as stupid as they may seem, are what teens worry about. And I, a young adult, liked it because who doesn't love some cheesy plot surrounded by flying kicks?!?!?! Plus, episodes are super short and I can watch them between college classes. The only bad thing is that the LaRussos may get on my nerves with all that "perfection" surrounding them, but even though irritating, worth it.

Maybe this is a lil spoiler, but i want to say this in my review: I love Hawk, and I feel the kid has so many reasons to behave the way he does, but I really want to see him find peace and lose his anger. He's a great character and his acting is on point!!!! + I love mohawks

Mulan (2020)

Just like the other reviews say: a disappointment

Mulan was a great movie, and I knew it was very difficult to achieve the same again, so I just expected an entertaining action film. Nevertheless, I am very disappointed.

Mulan used to be one of the most relatable characters because she was not born powerful or skilled, but actually worked to protect her family and her country. I don't understand why they could not keep such an essential characteristic.

Of course, there are many more changes that you may dislike more or less, including the removal of all funny characters and songs, but none equals how they ruined my girl.
