Insomnia (2002)
Interesting twist on mainstream detective movies
Classic Christopher Nolan, really gets under your skin. I love hownit has this reoccurring theme, with his sleep. The protagonist, Will Dormer, Al Pacino, barely gets any sleep throughout the movie because of the conditions in Alaska. And Nolan really uses this and plays with this in the final moments of the film. When Dormer is about to die from his wounds, he says to Durr "just let me sleep". I think that really rounds up the movie and connects the dots. Beautiful really, and a bit comedic. Nolan plays a interesting twist on the relationship between the good and the bad guy, and mixes them up real good. Once again Nolan livs up to his fantastic way of creating. I also love the way he uses the camera lens to paint a picture of how it is inside Dormers head, as his mind slowly devours. Especially when he changes the aperture extremy fast and gives you the illusion of insanity. Great
Baby Driver (2017)
Say what you want, it's got action
Not only does this movie contain, one of the, if not the best car chase scene i have ever seen ;) The way you just feel like you're sitting next to baby in the car is great. Edgar Wright really knows how to get you carried along, and his filming techniques are great, as seen in for example "The Worlds End". Not only that, but i think it has a good and touching love story. And the music is perfect for the action! Really a great music movie.
Angel Has Fallen (2019)
Honestly terrible
Well this was just a waste of almost 2 hours of my life. I hate to see great actors like Morgan Freeman in these movies, when he's stared in great movies like Seven and Shawshank. So i would recommend you go watch those instead. The plot didn't hold up and it all just went down bad, all the tension was spoiled just as it was introduced. Bad script, bad plot, bad story, good actors tho..
In the Shadow of the Moon (2019)
An interesting twist on mainstream movies
At first, I thought t it was going to be a normal, Netflix cliché waste of time. I thought Netflix had run out of ideas. But that is not my opinion on this movie anymore. Wow! I think they really did something here.
What I love about it is that it stretches over such a long period of time, so you really get the feeling that you get into the story. And you really want to find out whats going on. But at the same time you don't really know who to believe in.
I think the way they built the plot and left me wanting answers was really impressive. Especially the in the end with the plot twist.. That really gave the whole movie a nice and warm feeling, while still keeping the same the thiller feeling thats carried the movie. I thought it was quite beautiful.
And I saw people debating over the political aspects of it. I don't think that matters at all, I think what matters is the plot of the movie, not exactly what politics it contains.
I think that if they had not given away so much information about the situation and left you thinking more after, it would have been a stronger message, but thats just me.
Interstellar (2014)
A single masterpiece that leaves you speachless
This is one of Nolan's many masterpieaces but it has a meaninf like no other film in history. It explores an idea about life, survival, time, love and so much more that we do not understand and probably never fully will. Thats why it's so good.
