Spaced Invaders (1990)
Perfect Halloween movie!!!
This movie is to Halloween what the hilarious "Christmas Story" is to Christmas: both are relatively low-budget, no-big-name-stars type films...and both are two of the absolute greatest and funniest movies available, both seasonal CLASSICS!!! "Spaced Invaders" comes galloping out right from the start with warmth and humor and a superb cast of characters...all five goofy Martians, Klembecker the Realtor, Russell the deputy, Vern at the "fuel dispensing depot" and so many more! You just have to see this movie to believe it, and, like "Christmas Story", it just keeps getting better and better with each viewing, and you pick up on fun little things each time!! MOST DEFINITELY A TEN!!!
Flight of the Phoenix (2004)
A GREAT movie, with a GREAT cast!!!
Yes, the original "Flight of the Phoenix" is a gold-standard classic; I mean, come on, it's Jimmy Stewart and an excellent supporting cast!! Well, in my humble opinion, Dennis Quaid and crew do an every-bit-as-good-if-not-even-better version with this dynamite action movie!! The special-effects are also a big star here; the sequence of the plane flying into the storm, losing it's propeller and eventually crashing are thrilling and exciting to watch! As they start to rebuild the plane into a flyable unit, I liked to see the emotions and conflicts among the survivors and how they come together to overcome the desert and the forces of Nature. The directing and camera movement added a more realistic touch, making the movie more realistic and "gritty". Also an excellent soundtrack kept the pace tight and hard-edged! I own a copy of both "Flights" and enjoy watching them both, a lot!! LONG LIVE Hollywood!!!
The Andy Griffith Show: Prisoner of Love (1964)
Yet another wonderful Mayberry tale!! Susan Oliver is fabulous!!
One of many excellent stories from Mayberry, this one presents a young and beautiful Susan Oliver as a prisoner. Warm and well-plotted and we get to see some of Don Knotts' amazingly hilarious body-language as he gussies himself up to impress the prisoner. Also a short, side-splitting moment with Otis as he tries to get into his cell makes this episode a fun and warm and memorable one!! Susan Oliver naturally makes a play for Andy, who seems quite smitten with her (who wouldn't be?), but in the end, it's good old Barney Fife that falls for her and unlocks her cell to fix a radio inside. Andy shows up just as Susan is exiting the jail in an attempted jail-break.
