The Kitchen (2023)
Not for me... wasted potential for a great movie
Together with my husband we were excited to watch this movie and saved it for Sunday evening.
As we were watching we kept on looking at each other with the expression "Do you understand what is going on? When will the storyline start?".
I appreciate the actors and acting but the script and dialogues are a total failure. It's was just very boring.
It had so much potential for the development of the storyline and character building - just adding some back stories about the main characters would already make it so much more interesting. They could have at least told us a bit more about Izi and Tina or the reason for her death.
Wasted potential.
W glebi lasu (2020)
Nice crime show - Good acting
I haven't read the book but I really enjoyed this show. I like it that it was a bit confusing and it took a while to figure out what really happened. I'm Polish so I enjoyed watching it in my language but sometimes Netflix was automatically switching to English dubbing, so I really understand the reviews saying that it was flat in English. The dubbing sounded horrible so it's a pity many of you couldn't watch it in original.
I really liked the actors - they were perfect for their roles.
My only complaint is that there were some parts of the story that were started but not properly explained or finished. Like Ming Li? What was her story? Potential euthanasia? The Mother in the lake although the father clearly dug a grave in the woods ? How did Dawid leave the hospital? Why would he have a gun being so unstable? Why he was so set up on framing Pawel ? And I'm sure I'm missing some more...
The ending didn't leave me satisfied but I still thoroughly enjoyed the show.
Forst (2024)
Predictable and boring...
Oh my... I really wanted this to be good. I was so excited when I saw it on Netflix as I am always looking for good Polish shows while living abroad. If you are a fan of crime shows you will know who is the murderer in the middle of the season. Cliché after cliché - it's a pity because the acting is good and some big Polish names in it.
I went through the last 3 episodes partly scrolling through Instagram and playing candy crush just coz I wanted to see how they would end it.
I really wanted to like it but unfortunately I cannot
recommend this show to anyone - well unless it's the first crime show you are seeing in your life - then it may be somewhat surprising and entertaining.
Napoleon (2023)
I couldn't finish.... although I tried
I honestly don't get this idea of the portrayal of Bonaparte... one of the most charismatic leaders and brilliant strategists was presented to us as the most boring person with 0 charisma.
I had to turn it off because I was just annoyed at Joaquin Phoenix for doing this to one of the most famous men in history.
Such a disappointment - both me and my husband were so excited for this movie and we were not even able to finish it, although we tried.
I appreciated the visuals, scenography and beautiful costumes that I believe were historically accurate ( I'm not any expert on that though).
All in all I do not recommend- probably you are better off watching a good documentary on Napoleon instead.
Harry & Meghan (2022)
Could have been 1 episodes
I'm not one of the haters of H&M so I was curious to watch the show. I think it was way too long - we saw nothing new apart from some few pictures or shots that were not published before. Same story repeated, I kept on watching hoping that the next episode would bring something interesting but it didn't.
Cool to watch for the fans of Royal content but not much more. On a personal note I think this documentary series made me like them less... it felt funny knowing that they were kind of preparing for publishing this documentary and recording content for it since they left the Royal Family. It's a pity because I really watched it with an open mind.
House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths (2021)
Good, captivating story - poor documentary. Unnecessarily long.
A very interesting and incredibly sad story - it could have been an amazing documentary if It was done in 1 episode. It looks like they really pushed for 3 episodes presenting similar takes and opinions of people of how intelligent and how great the family was etc. The first episode could have been shortened to 15 min without losing any valuable content. I found the story captivating but at least 2 out of 3 hours of my life were wasted by watching this.
Ófærð: Episode #2.6 (2019)
Good show. A solid 7/10
Watching teenagers in Season 2 is the best contraception ever 😂😂😂
On a serious note - The Show is very good. I enjoyed both first and second seasons.
The story is well written and interesting. A good watch for those who enjoy crime stories.
Gekijouban Violet Evergarden (2020)
Stunning Animation, Beautiful music, disappointing storyline...
For me it was an assassination of a well crafted and developed character of Violet. Some storylines felt unfinished and unnecessary. I enjoyed it but it could have been so much better... this aside the animation was breathtaking... just spectacular!
Criminal: Spain: Isabel (2019)
Sooooo bad compared to the UK version
I was excited to see it because I love watching Spanish shows but it was just disappointing and nothing to do with the reality of police work. Waste of time...
Spencer (2021)
Couldn't stomach more than 30 min
Reading reviews about how good Kirsten's acting was makes me wonder if we actually watched the same movie. I found it extremely contrived and just couldn't force myself to finish the movie.
Second Act (2018)
One of the worst movies I have ever seen
I don't mind romantic comedies, I actually enjoy them from time to time. Oh and I actually like J Lo! But this was such a garbage... it just didn't make sense.
