Back to the Future (1985)
An amazing masterpiece
Time travel movies never disappoint that is because the concept of time travel is a very interesting one which most people must have thought about at one time or another.
"Back to The Future" to this day is still a timeless treasure that I notice more and more is becoming art of a newer generation. This film works so well because of the great story and the humor is great. The whole cast works together and makes a terrific film that will be looks back on thirty years from now and still be considered cool.
This film is just fantastic, awesome and flawless. The action and suspense of this film still excites to this day.
Jurassic Park (1993)
The best dinosaur film
"Jurassic Park" is one of the most underrated films ever. We all know that this has some of the greatest special effects, even today.
The dinosaurs in this film look more realistic than any other prehistoric film, or even most movies today that try to pass off crappy CGI has reality. The acting is spectacular, and aside from how wonderful the creatures look and how vicious and exciting they are like no other dinosaur film had had them before.
The plot and characters are solid and incredibly entertaining where you did not think they would be so amusing. This film has no faults at that time.
Alice in Wonderland (2010)
A visual masterpiece
Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland is a sequel and not a retelling of the original children's novel by Lewis Carroll. In this film, Alice is now 19 years old, and soon after the death of her father, is proposed to be married away.
Tim Burton's version of the Wonderland's environments are gorgeous, imaginatively creates, lots of colorful details, and breathes life. The castles are sleek and intricately designed.
the story, admittedly, is a simple one, although it is to the story's credit that Alice is now an adult. It is different from the original but the visual is amazing.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
A grateful Spider-Man film
This film has action, comedy and drama in a perfect balance. I am worried that there would be too many bad guys in this film, but they did it just right.
One of the highlight is the soundtrack and score of the film. The music when Elecyro is in Times Square is amazingly well done. I like this film a lot because it really feel like Spider-Man I know from the comics.
The action is fun, fast and so Spider-Man if that means anything. The way they use his spider sense is very cool.
However, the ending is sad and I cannot understand how that could happened. I am so disappointed. n the end, Iwant to say that the drama is very high.
Home Alone (1990)
Christmas film
There are two reasons why "Home Alone" was such a big success. The first is that it is about a kid who outsmarts grown-ups, something that happens every day, only there is a worldwide conspiracy of silence. The second is John Williams's magical score, which elevates the film way above slapstick family fare to something more serious and regarded.
Moreover, there is an important message that family is what really matters to a child, or to anyone, and having them home for the holidays is better than wandering a huge house all by yourself.
There are some films that work best at Christmas and this is one of them.
Ice Age (2002)
Heart-warming film
This film have some sort of warmth. One great point about this film is the beauty of the animation. All the environments and characters are modeled originally by clay, giving the film an artistic edge.
Another aspect that adds to the feel of the film, is that gender means very little. There are hardly any female characters, but you do not really realize that until after you watch it, a few times and even then it has little effect on the way you view the film.
The story id simple but effective, the characters lovable and nicely fleshed out but what shines is the digital set design. It is family-friendly and sometimes just hilariously funny.
Paranormal Activity (2007)
A great effective film for this genre
A couple decide to document their nights while they sleep, after they hear strange noises that they believe to be haunting.
The construction of the film is genius. This is the effective way of thriller.
The occurrences are what in other contexts would be normal sounds, but without a visible source, they become frightening. But what really gets us is that many times we are unsure that anything happened at all.
"Paranormal Activity" is one of those polarizing movies that, for the most part, will simply either work for the viewer or not. When I see this film, I cannot sleep well.
Ratatouille (2007)
A humorous children film
Remy is a little rat who dreams of becoming a chef just like his idol, the human Gusteau.
The food looks so real and delicious, and the humans and rats look incredibly realistic. Remy and Linguini are both lovable characters, and the audience is rooting for them entire way.
Some of the scenes are so poetic and perfect that they just bring tears to your eyes. This film feels like a classic. The animations absolutely beautiful, speciously the scenery of Paris which evoked awes from the audience, as if we are seeing a grandiose fireworks show. the humor is great too.
Paddington (2014)
The most famous British bear
This is an instant classic.
The raw materials, a heart-warming, but lightweight children's story are not obvious stuff of great film, the hybrid real life and CGI high risk. But it works, spectacularly.
Not only is the story well told, but the dialogue is crisp, funny and fresh too. Everythibg from the quickly humour, to the Brtish scenery to the wonderfully-animated bear himself is a true delight to watch. The Brown family feel genuinely real and easy to relate to.
You feel love of family from this film. It is one of the great family films.
Into the Woods (2014)
It is a musical
Firstly I am very surprised Disney did this because it is not for kids.
The woods represent the paths we choose in life, and how wishes cannot always lead to wonderful happy endings.
This film snows you go on your journey, and experience joys and pain and heartache, which you learn from. You finally discover yourself and your true purpose in life. Those of you who said there are n memorable songs in it are not listening to the deeper meaning of those lyrics.
"Into the Woods" is an amazing adaptation of a Broadway Musical and parents need to understand that.
This film is not for family.
The Great Gatsby (2013)
A mysterious wealthy man
The film itself, as a film, is awesome. The visuals and soundtrack are captivating and lavish. The acting is great overall, as you can trust these actors to deliver.
The story line is obviously interesting. A man realizes his new neighbor is a mysterious, and incredibly wealthy man. Throughout the whole film, as the relationship between all the few main characters become deeper and deeper, and the questions become answered. You just cannot help but feel so into the character's lives.
The direction in this film is impeccable. The cinematography is marvelous and really lets the viewer absorb the sheer artistry that has gone into making this film.
Shaun the Sheep Movie (2015)
Funny silent film
"Shaun the Sheep" is a brilliant TV show so when I found out a movie was being made I was thrilled.
This film is delightful in so many ways that it is just easier for everyone above a certain age to give in to their inner child. The characters may be fashioned out of clay and wood and painstakingly animated as an extremely slow speed, but the film itself positively crackles with energy.
Shaun is extremely well animated and manages to keep the story ticking along and funny enough to keep your interest without really feeling stretched.
Cinderella (2015)
Courage and kindness are important
From the romance to the slightly altered plot, this movie is spectacular.
The screenplay, although based off an old fairy tale, still managed to be original and entertaining. The characters are wonderfully developed and the actors are able to play off of each other so well. As for Cinderella and Prince Charming, the romance could not be more believable. The costumes are gorgeous and the music is beautiful.
This film provides all the feelings of young love through a heart wrenching, romantic, and inspiring story. everything in it is lovely, bright and themed well.
The Martian (2015)
Exciting and unexpected story
"The Martian" is a science fiction film starring Matt Demon and directed by Ridley Scott.
Despite its somewhat tone of survive in a hostile terrain, the film still manages to have its fair share of funny and heart-warming moments, which are seamlessly intertwined into the film's more dramatic scenes.
The landscape of Mars looks absolutely breathtaking, and the scenes aboard the Hermes and back on Earth are just as sharp in detail and scope.
The most surprisingly element about this movie through is the screenplay. The film is hilarious in some parts, in fact I would argue that it is funnier than most comedies.
Maleficent (2014)
Beautiful animation
The film is very entertaining with stunning visuals and impressive action scenes. This is definitely Angelina's film and she is incredible as Maleficent.
The story is sophisticated enough to delight adult audiences with a brilliant take on the beloved tale with a delightful twist including the meaning of true love. The character are sympathetic and there is enough excitement.
The art direction and cinematography are beautiful. The right blend of human faces with CGI so it does not look like animated. Moreover, Angelina's expressive face is the perfect snow case for the character.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
The grateful film
This is a most favorite film of Harry Potter series for me. Although it is long, it does drag on. it has a nice, tight feel to it.
It progresses from scene to scene with a smoothness. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this film is the fact that it feels like a mix of genres. It has an epic feel to it. After all it is about good v.s. evil and battling the dark wizards. This film, however, also feels like a high school movie. It has the issues of coming of age, which makes sense as the characters begin to mature. This film includes some genres which is action, suspense, love and drama. This amazing film is fascinating with people in all over the world.
Piper (2016)
The message of collage and adventures of life
The little piper is not just adorable but the way the makers of piper captured the beauty of motherhood,, survival, nature and adventure in just 6 min is pure brilliance.
The film is told with no words and is the story of a very timid baby piper. The best thing about this film is the character design. The baby piper is adorable and is a great combination of a more realistic sort of CG with a slightly cartoon character. Both funny and touching, the minutes seem to go by pretty quickly by the time it ends.
However, this story line is a little difficult for children. It is not easy to understand the process of getting shells.
Mononoke-hime (1997)
The best film I have ever seen
"Princess Mononoke" is, without a doubt, one of the best films I have ever witnessed. It is set in an imaginary time which blends the time of the ancient gods with the settlement of humans and the coming of metalworking and war.
The original soundtrack has some amazing singing and draws upon some of the best talent available for voices. There is no other animation like it. This is truly an adult work. Children might like some of the visuals , but I doubt that many kids below teen age will have any idea what it is all about. Even adults will get more out of this each time you see it again.
In Time (2011)
Time is money
The idea of this film is amazing. You cold call it a skeptical analogy of what is happening in some parts of the world the richest people of the planet abusing poor.
There is some good drama as well as good action scenes. For example, car chases and shooting. It is the sort of film that will keep you guessing as to what will happen next and it is just a very interesting concept overall.
There are some good actors. Amanda Seyfried is one of them. She acts beautiful and strong woman. She does a good job in this film. Her face is strong and the audience will be fascinated.
Finding Dory (2016)
Funny film
Dory now lives with Nemo and Marlin. One day, Dory gets knocked out while witnessing a mass stingray migration- her childhood memory.
This film is funny, emotional, exciting, and beautiful. There are a lot of love about family or friends. They have done a great job at connecting "Finding Nemo" with this sequel and you become attached to new characters and reminisce with old ones.
This film is that is automatically compared to "Finding Nemo". Sequels are rarely as good as the originals and this is no exception. This provides a nice new twist on an already explored plot and keeps fans well familiarized with characters loved by millions.
Safety Not Guaranteed (2012)
The power of love
The source material for this film is a well-known newspaper advertisement. They could have just run with that, making it about a guy who wants to time travel and his life and regrets but they did not stop there. The story is science fiction, fantasy and real-relationship. This little film is crafted with wonderful story line, dialog, plot. It brilliantly handles very complex themes involving the past and regret. However, the film is not just about going back and changing something in your past. It is mostly about the power of love to heal emotional wounds. There is a message about past loves, new loves, and employment.
The Gift (2010)
What is the meaning of the gift box?
In Russia, the silver box causes mysterious death. The stage is the near future and many androids mechanical animals live with people. This film is amazing and my heart is beating while I see this. There are three reasons why I was moved by this film.
First, it is a good mysterious story. The audience can not expect what happens next so most audience's eyes were riveted on the film screen. In the beginning, I can not understand the meaning of silver box. However, later, i can see interesting about this film.
second, it has high quality pictures. In this film, there are action scenes. This is amazing. Moreover, the picture is beautiful so I want to see it at movie theater.
finally, it is a good ending. People must want to know the continuation of this film. However, this is also good point of this short movie. This film is the most marvelous short film I have ever seen.
The Errand (2010)
The sadness and heart-warming story
The father gets cancer but he wants to smoke cigarettes. Therefore he asks his daughter to buy cigarettes as an errand.
This film is touching and the daughter is acted with great skill. This is a moving and serious film so actor's facial expression is more important. The child actress is young but her expression is wonderful. Her performance made me sad and anxious.
Moreover, the theme of this film is good. Smoking cigarettes is one of the social problems. It has the possibility of becoming an addiction. I felt this film sounded the alarm on cigarette. This is a touching and instructive film.
Fish Out of Water (2005)
Comfortable day
In the town, there is a man who does not like the morning rush. Therefore, he uses a boat every day but one day his comfortable day is disturbed. This film is interesting and humorous because there are three reasons.
First, it is an unexpected story. At for film, unexpected ending is important element. It is also interesting his movement when he is cornered.
Second, it is character. Character is also an important thing in film. The most impressive characters are a timid man, a strong woman, and a fat man like an elephant.
Finally, it is music. This film is silent so the music expresses character's feeling. It is easy to understand and interesting. This film is interesting for young and old of both sexes.
Three Days in Kamakura (2012)
Family Love
David and Keiko's marriage is under strain. One day, he brings a small boy, Jay who is half-Japanese and half-Western into their life. The boy becomes a factor in their troubled relationship.
The film has some good points. First, it is the story. The main characters are a married couple who live with stress. This situation is common for many people. This film arouses sympathy from many in the audience.
Second, it is the characters. There are many people with individually in this film. I think the boss and Mrs. Yamada make this film more and more interesting. In this film, there are few characters but it is also one of the good points of this film.
