The Color of Money (1986)
Paul Newman at his best
Scorcese matches up a current Hollywood legend, with a future Hollywood legend, and creates magic. Newman's character: cool, wise, ultra-smooth. Cruise's character: young, dumb, and brash. Great performances by both, but Newman steals the show. A must-see.
The Comedy Store (2020)
Amazing series!
An outstanding behind the scenes look at the development of the great comics of our time. Mike Binder does an amazing job. They're quite a family out there, it's an emotional story and you're sure to learn something you'll remember.
Trespass Against Us (2016)
I didn't know what was going on.
I love movies. All types. I am not an uppity critic. But this move is bad. First of all, the gypsy language is undecipherable, so you'll have to watch it with subtitles, even in English, it's that bad. Then, there doesn't seem to be a point to the whole movie. I read the story line, and it is not reflected in the movie at all. It's just a couple of weeks of some gypsy lives, that you can't understand. It's horrible. I don't know what else the movie was about. I really have no idea. Do not waste your time. It might be the worst movie I've ever seen?
Shoot to Kill (1988)
Great crime-thriller with a great cast!
Great interaction between city-slickers and mountain men/women. The characters work great together. Sidney Poitier, Tom Berenger, Kirstey Ally, and Clancy Brown all give amazing performances; some of their best work in my opinion. On the edge of your seat throughout the movie. But I can't find it anywhere to rent online! Such a tragedy, some network has it locked up, and I don't know which one.
Oktoberfest: Beer & Blood (2020)
Great historical, behind-the-scenes look at the politics of Oktoberfest.
I'm an American, I attend the Oktoberfest annually with friends, so I found this to be a very entertaining look at the politics behind the bier tents. Fortunes are made in those tents and this show looks at the shady dealings in order to get a license to have a bier tent at the Wies'n. I normally can't watch shows in a foreign language, but this one was totally worth it. It's all in German, but it's great for non-German speakers as well. I hope to see another season!
