Don't Worry Darling (I) (2022)

But.....WHAT?
24 September 2023
This movie really had me interested and I was enjoying it, but the ending left me shaking my head and saying "You gotta be kidding me!" I'm afraid I needed something more concrete than what I was handed with the ending. It was well done and kept you guessing till the end...then kept you guessing after that. Very anti-climactic for me. Maybe that was their point in the long run. If it was...kudos, you really nailed it. Reminiscent of The Stepford Wives in my opinion, with a pinch of Wally and the Beaver thrown in for flavor. Someone please feel free to describe their opinion of the ending. Other than that, I enjoyed it.

The Whale (2022)

Whale of a good movie with a whale of a great actor
24 September 2023
Brendan Frazier pulled off something that a movie hasn't been able to get out of me in a very long time. He made me cry. His performance was so incredible, so involved, so believable that, well, I couldn't believe it. Acting wise, this movie, thanks to Brendan Frazier, is officially at the very top of my "Wow! What an incredible movie!" list. It needs to be watched without interruption and with much attention as possible paid to it. I'm so incredibly happy for him and his Oscar win, which, in my opinion, was so very much deserved. It's a remarkable notch in Brendan's acting gun. There is no one else who could have done this part and made it this good. This movie slapped me in the face so hard that I didn't take a breath until it ended. I guess you could say I liked the movie. Duh.

A messed up story that needed to be told.

My palm is still on my forehead and the word 'disbelief' doesn't even begin to scratch the surface. This guy answers the question "Just how repulsive can a person get?" Long review short...watch this movie You won't believe this type of animal actually existed.

Good, solid entertainment.

I really enjoyed this movie. Not only was the plot interesting, but everything leading to the end made sense. Plus, this movie has the most terrifying special effect ever put in a movie. The plane crash scene is by far the most hair raising, nerve wracking, jaw dropping horror event ever filmed. It's incredibly shocking to watch. This movie deserves way more than the 6.2 average rating.

Actually not bad, but.....
5 April 2020
The reason I gave this film only 3 stars is this....the character Dakota Fanning played was beyond infuriating. I'd have flushed her down the toilet just to get away from her. She was the poster child for birth control. I'd have thrown her at the aliens then ran the other direction. I read somewhere that a magazine voted her character "the most useless thing to have during an apocalypse". I couldn't agree more. I would have loved this movie if is weren't for that. I actually love Dakota Fanning and think she's very talented. My issue isn't with her, it's with the character she had to portray. Maybe that's a good thing. An actor that can make you love them in one movie and hate them in another is a great actor. Well played, Dakota!

Beowulf (2007)
10/10
Uniquely entertaining
10 March 2020
I gave this movie a rating of 10 stars because of it's entertainment value. The graphics are great and it tells a fine story. The eyes seem a little "off", but if that's the worse thing that happened, no worries. Did anyone else out there fall in love with Weedlove? He was Beowulf's right hand man. Something about him was magical. He was brave, honest, caring, and fiercely loyal. Lots of great actors in this...Anthony Hopkins, Ray Winstone, Robin Wright, John Malkovich. I watch it every time it comes on and I see something new in it each time. Some love it, some hate it. I love it and appreciate it for what it is, total entertainment.

The Christmas Secret (2000 TV Movie)
10/10
Fun and refreshing. A unique twist to Christmas movies.
14 November 2019
I love this movie. I love it because it's different from all the other Christmas movies. Every Christmas movie you see these days is about how a jaded business executive travels to a town in the mountains to buy it out to make it a giant ski resort, with no regards for the townsfolk of said town. He/she bumps into someone who's got more Christmas spirit than my mother (which is impossible), and he/she makes the jaded exec see the error of his/her ways, and in the end saves the town from his/her evil company and gets the girl/guy. I just spoiled every Christmas movie out there, except for this one. So grab a cup of hot chocolate (put whipped cream on it for Pete's sake) sit back and enjoy this movie. It's fun, entertaining, and you'll find yourself saying "Hey, I know who that actor is!" more than once. Enjoy and Merry Christmas.

Get ready to be disturbed.
21 February 2019
This show serves a great purpose in my opinion. It really lets people know what the consequences of becoming morbidly obese can be, and it isn't pretty. Plus, I find that since I've been watching it, it actually makes me take a good look at my diet and it scares the tar out of me. Time to start munching on carrots and celery instead of chips and candy. The success stories make you feel very happy for the ones who come through with flying colors, and the failures can actually make you want to shake your head and say "Dude, what were you thinking?" I like how it makes you think about consequences, the importance of taking care of ones body, and how brave the people are who are on the show. They're baring all for everyone to see and I can only imagine how difficult and embarrassing that is. Dr. "Now" holds no punches and tells it like it is, and you can tell it isn't easy for the people to hear. I like this show, even though it can be very disturbing at times.

The Haunting (1963)
10/10
Way ahead of it's time and downright scary.
16 January 2019
This movie is the proverbial definition of a film screwing with your mind. When I saw it as a kid for the first time, I didn't sleep for years which I'm sure is the reason I am now 62 years old and still afraid of the dark. It's creepy, suspenseful and it's not for watching after 6:00 pm. It's not some idiotic film about a psycho with an axe chopping up college students, or a nightmare causing fiend on a street named Elm, rather it's a journey into the darkest part of the brain that holds your scariest fears. This film still freaks me out, but I watch it every chance I get. So grab some popcorn, wrap yourself in blanket and get prepared for one spooky ride. Just make sure you tuck your feet and legs under you and not let them hang down the front of the couch because you will feel a little tickle, then you'll be physically yanked off the couch and pulled under it.

Title should be "Night Of One Of The Stupidest Movies Ever Made"
16 January 2019
This is a movie no bunny should see. Sorry. Why would three of the most popular actors of the time agree to a movie like this? "Hey, I'm doing a movie about giant rabbits that tear people apart. Wanna star?" The only reason I sat through it is because afterwards, the original "The Haunting" was coming on, which is arguably one of the best horror movies of all time, so I suffered through ketchup covered rabbits and stilted acting (they knew how bad it was, hence the strained performances). This movie made "Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes" look like Oscar material. In all honesty though, it's actually good for a quick belly laugh and an excursion into the realm of how never to make a movie. Will I ever watch it again? Gnaw.

Uncomfortable? Yes. Astounding? Absolutely.
6 December 2018
Okay, I want you to put yourself in the place of the actors in this film. If there were scenes in this movie that made you squirm and look away from the screen, imagine how it felt for Douglas and Damon. Those two gave their all for this picture and did an outstanding job. Is it the best movie ever made? No, but those two pulled it off without a flinch and made their way through scenes that surely made them uncomfortable and embarrassed. The story line flowed very well and gave us an in-depth look into the life of Liberace, which was flamboyant, disturbed and tragic. Douglas and Damon each deserved an Academy Award for their performances in this film. It's not really the film itself that rates 10 stars, but the performances alone elevated it to that level for me.

Busted a gut at least 7 times.
27 November 2018
The title of this movie sounded so ominous that I couldn't resist watching. Within the first 10 minutes I was laughing out loud. This is one of the funniest films I've seen in a long time. Every character was hilarious, and even Petyr, who looked absolutely terrifying, was a laugh riot. How can four vampires living in the same flat make everything look so funny? It was gory, scary, very clever and totally unexpected. I'll be watching it again very soon just to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Bizarre? Well, duh.....

Warning: Spoilers
This movie flabbergasted me, but in a good way. When the farting jet ski man was ripping across the waves, I was completely confused but captivated. And Manny's....um....compass really took me by surprise. It's a movie that's so unbelievable, you have to watch it just to see what the hell happens in the long run. All I could think of was how difficult this movie had to be for Daniel Radcliffe. They say playing a dead person is the most difficult role an actor can take on, and Daniel did an astounding job. He actually LOOKED dead at the beginning. This is a film you have to sit through without taking your eyes off the screen because you may just miss something vital to the plot, and in this movie you wouldn't want to do that. Watch it, it'll definitely surprise you.

The Meg (2018)

Great concept. It took Jason Statham to pull it off.
22 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
People - people - people......you have to take this movie for what it's worth, and that's entertainment. You have to admit, that shark was one gnarly looking critter and would scare the crap out of anyone whose heart is beating. I watched it twice and got quite a chuckle out of the "Jaws" take-aways, and was glad they changed the ending of those in favor of the intended victims. Pippin was just too cute to get eaten, the kid who insisted on going out on the raft was, admittedly, very annoying but that's no reason to knock him off, and I wonder how many people out there got the reference to the three yellow barrels being replaced with the three anchored piers? Jason Statham was great as Jonas and I giggled when he was chasing the shark with the spear singing "just keep swimming, just keep swimming." Go into this movie with an open mind and get prepared to see an animal that we should all be thankful is extinct. Any creature that can open it's mouth and you could walk upright into it is NOT something we want swimming around in the oceans. Yikes.

Don't EVER do that to me again.
12 November 2018
I don't think there's ever been a movie more dedicated to making me feel just awful. I realize how horrid and cruel war is, but to have it shoved down my throat in such a brutal manner was very unnerving and only left me with an upset stomach and shaking my head. I don't know just how accurate it's telling was, but all I could do was cringe and look away through most of it. The only reason I gave it four stars was because of the stellar acting performances by DeNiro, Walken, Streep and the others. In fact, I think it was their believeablity that made me have such a strong reaction to the film. There's nothing I appreciate more than our soldiers and veterans, whom I feel are getting the fuzzing end of the lollipop when it comes to what they deserve for their service to this country, and I'm sure that's one of the reasons this movie left me with an incredibly bad taste in my mouth. This is one of those films that you either hate or love and it seems there's really no in between with it's ratings. Sorry all you The Deer Hunter fans, I know where you're coming from, but for me, this movie literally hurts too much to watch.

Aliens (1986)

"If it comes to that, I'll do us both."
24 October 2018
This film is one of the best ever. It's the kind you have to see at least 3 times to appreciate all the subtleties and nuances that pull it together. Alien was more of a gore fest, but nonetheless a riveting film, but this one is the rare occasion when the sequel is much better than the original. This film is in my top 5 list and may very well be number one. Sigourney Weaver is beyond spectacular in this movie. She's tough, straightforward, yet not afraid to show she's scared to death. Of all the "Alien" movies, this one shines far above the rest. If you haven't seen Aliens yet, for God's sake, what are you waiting for? Just get ready to have your nerves frayed to the max and your breathing sped up. Sleep well!

A vampire story with a massive twist.
21 October 2018
This movie has to be seen to be believed. It's, well, weird, but in a good way. Both creative and spooky, it really keeps you interested just so you can find out what happens at the end. It was nice to see a movie that deviated from the norm. The special effects are really good for the time. I think I liked it so much because it was disturbing and thought provoking at the same time. Watch it and I think you'll be surprised. Oh, and if I had a body like May does, I'd run around naked all the time.

An extraordinary performance by an exceptional actor
21 October 2018
There are few movies that I tell everyone to watch, and this is one of them. Christopher Plummer should have received an Academy Award for his portrayal of this character. He could not have been more convincing if he tried and he completely reeled me in and wouldn't let me go. This movie tells a horrendous story in a gripping and enthralling manner that kept me glued to the screen until the very last second, at which point I almost vapor locked. This movie showed just how wonderful Christopher Plummer is at his craft and how well he gets his message across. This film contained everything from love to fear to regret to loss to revenge to abject disbelief. It gets it's point across at the very end by slapping you right in the face and makes you scream "OH NOOOO!" I don't care what any of the negative reviews say, this movie has an incredibly important message that I feel everyone needs to see. So grab a soda and a bowl of popcorn, settle in to your couch and get prepared for the experience of a lifetime.

Warning: Spoilers
Okay, in all honesty, this movie ranked a 9.5 on my weird creep-o-meter. Ryan Reynolds was superb as always and a joy to watch. Even with his character's horrifying faults, you can't help but love the guy. But this movie disturbed me so much that my right eye hasn't stopped twitching since I saw it, an I officially now hate cats. Take your prescriptions people! Ryan's performance completely made this movie and he brought so much appeal to it, and that's all that matters. And to top it all off....the most bizarre part of this movie was the dance scene at the end. It brought an almost unbearable psychotic creepiness to the already gut wrenching weirdness that it was actually hard to take. So get your popcorn and....you know what, forget the popcorn, you'll just puke it up anyway....just snuggle up with your dog, lock your cat in the spare bedroom and enjoy the show. I'll never Use Tupperware again.

A message to be heeded.
26 September 2018
This movie proves the point that no matter how hard the government tries to suppress the Native American, it simply cannot be done. Val Kilmer played a superb part and was very convincing as being both disgusted with the job he was forced to do, then understanding what the natives were subjected to. It really is a must see.

"As big as a peanut butter and banana sandwich, man."
6 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is amazing. It is so far out there and utterly ridiculous that it's nothing but tons of fun to watch. The characters are captivating and totally absurd. From Elvis impersonating the impersonator impersonating him, to president Kennedy's bag of sand in his head and being dyed black, you simply can't turn away from the forehead scrunching plot and the total implausibility of each scene. This movie was made to take us away from our stress riddled world and immerse us in silly oblivion. You have to take this film with a grain of salt and a completely twisted mind. Do that and you'll totally enjoy every belly laugh and knee slap you experience. Really pay attention and you'll catch historical jabs and personal references that'll make you cringe and laugh. So grab a soda and get prepared to unexpectedly spray some of it out of your nose.

What's all the whining about?
4 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
You have to be a complete and utter dragon freak, like me, to appreciate this movie. I don't see what all the stink reviews are about, this movie should be accepted for what it is....a fictional dragon flick. Each culture has it's own dragon stories, and this one is based on Korean beliefs. And at the end when the two serpents are fighting, when the good Imoogi turns in to a true dragon, he is an awesome sight! Fearsome, powerful, and downright cool. Yes, the film has its weak spots, but what film doesn't? So grab a soda and a bag of chips and just sink back in to your sofa and get ready for a fun ride.

Um, okay.
20 July 2018
This movie should have been titled "Scarlett drives around town in a van". It did have some interesting points to it, but all in all this movie left me shaking my head and wondering why. The Scottish accents were so heavy I couldn't understand half the dialogue, and Scarlett's character seemed to be utterly confused throughout the entire thing. I found myself rewinding it over and over just to try and figure certain things out. I'll be watching it again just to see if I can put it together a little better. Beautifully shot and the premise was good, but it seemed to deviate from that strongly. You'll either love it or hate it. Me? I haven't quite figured that out yet.

So incredibly bad you can't turn away.
1 July 2018
I gave this film a 6 because it's so hysterically bad that I had to finish it just to see what would happen, and when a movie is this bad yet keeps my attention, you can't give it a totally bad review. These actors tried their best to portray backwoods idiots and I found myself shaking my head in disbelief. The acting was bad, the costumes were bad, the plot line was bad, the accents were bad, the entire attempt was bad. Complete and total entertainment. If you're looking to waste and hour and 15 minutes that you'll never get back, this film is for you. I just know they got change back on the 20 bucks it took to make this film.

Epic Godzilla!
17 June 2018
Any Godzilla fan will love this movie. I love the way it stuck to the original idea, yet added special effects that are superb. Is Godzilla bad or is he good? That's up to you to decide. The King of the Monsters doesn't disappoint in this, he just gets down to business and tears up the city in the process. What more could a Godzilla freak ask for?
