Shah (2015)
It's not about Shah, it's about its makers
My concern is more towards our dogmatic/copy-cat film makers rather than commenting on this movie. 'Shah' is a positive effort towards projecting Pakistan's good image & its fine BUT...
Our directors/film-makers need to come out of media based movies. Every 2nd film carries the story of media, film industry, news channels (what the hell). We need to learn that showbiz industry would be less than 1% in our country and you are making every film on that community. Come'on there are millions of other topics in the world yar. Look at the bogus media/showbiz involvement in these movies (that i have seen only)...SHAH (media, news channel), LAHORE SE AGY (actress is rock star, film-ind.), ACTOR IN LAW (hero wants to become an actor,film-ind.), ZINDAGI KITNI HASEEN HAI (hero wants to become a story writer, film-ind.), ISHQ POSITIVE (actress wants to become drama artist, film-ind.), AKSBANDH (found footage of film- makers), BOL (media), WRONG NO (hero wants to be an actor, again film- industry), HO MAN JAHAN (passionate about music, showbiz), MANTO (writer, showbiz story, media), MAHEMIR (poet, poetry, showbiz)...
Another common thing is the competition of making CHEAPEST MOVIE among our film-makers. Budget of every new release seems less than the previous. Perhaps we want to set an example for Hollywood or wish to get registered in Guinness world record for making World's Cheapest/Most Economical Movie. My point is we should do something new. New Locations (northern areas, cities other than Karachi), New Stories (of a common man not an actor, director, poet, media person please...), New stuff...in short something new for the people.
Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hay (2016)
Should be "Zindagi Kitni Ghamgeen Hai"
I usually write good aspects of the movie since purpose of movie is entertainment but this one...AWFUL
What is it all about: They took 3-4 super hit Bollywood family pictures...FIRST: A person failed in life & struggling...SECOND: bad parenting & then uniting at the end...THIRD: Proud heroine mistreating her husband & finally realizing she was wrong...etc. etc. They took climax scenes from all these movies and combined them in one MASTER PIECE.
Name should be rather "Zindagi Kitni Ghamgeen hai" since you will get tears, cries, hopelessness, broken hearts, break-up in relations, fighting, failure in everything in every scene till the movie ends suddenly...OMG... I WANT 2 HOURS OF MY LIFE BACK...instead 120 minutes because every minute spent in the theater was very tough to bear it.
PLEASE PLEASE DON'T WATCH THIS MOVIE...DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME (LIKE I DID). It's better to waste your 2 hours sitting on waiting areas bench & doing nothing. APOLOGIES FOR SUCH BAD COMMENTS...BUT IT DESERVED MORE THAN THAT !!!
Aksbandh (2016)
Good Attempt | Remember, it's 1st Pakistani Horror Film
Aksbandh is a good effort to entertain its viewers. Acting is good, choice of location is creepy, scenes are interesting and short length (appr. 90 mins.) keeps you involved throughout the movie.
However if you are a horror lover & watched many movies of this genre then you may not find anything new but if you watch with this perspective that it's Pakistan's first attempt towards horror making (found footage) you will appreciate the youngsters. Basically it's mix of 'Blair Witch Project' & 'Paranormal Activity'. Few scenes seemed as if they were literally inspired (copied) from popular Hollywood horror movies. At certain moments you may feel that the script could have been better as few scenes don't relate or end with some conclusion. It seems that there is more talking and less showing perhaps to depict tension e.g. if a character is upset, he or she repeats the disagreement over and over again, restating the obvious. This causes boring delay, giving you ample time to prepare for the surprise in the next scene.
However, actors (being new comers) performed well and you will enjoy the amount of amusement they put in the script. Cinematography and overall atmosphere is entertaining. In the last I would reinforce the subject i.e. to remember,it's Pakistan's 1st horror attempt so ignore all the mistakes and appreciate the efforts of youngsters.
