Margin Call (2011)
Informative
Shame films such as this doesn't score big box office figures.
I have read the reviews of a few who state the film is boring because the script is too intelligent. to those I say the film is based on the financial crash. It shows how a risk analyst figured out how high leverage had exposed the company to greater risk. We can see what happens when the first companies had figured their risk. The aggressive trading is insightful as it shows the amount of money they are willing to loose on every trade due to high risk. So the film will of course require some general sense of economics and finance.
Again its a shame it didn't gather higher box office.
The Missing (2014)
Annoying & boringly slow !
Forget the reviews that have the heading "contains spoilers". The series itself its very easy to guess everything from the beginning.
Highly Rated! my hopes were high!
Firstly amateur script. The writer has watched the news and taken every story from Madeleine Mccann disappearance then changed the name and gender. I don't understand why most British hit series have a very slow dumbed down script for their characters. Audience will get bored and will find it very hard to finish.
Following on from the script the directing is appalling. The father is given the lead character and I assume they wanted him to be portrayed as a loving father who doesn't give up and will not take NO for an answer. As I soldiered and watched I did not see those qualities and its a shame. His portrayed as stupid who doesn't know how to react and has no people skills. Wife leaves him because he still wants to search for his son there isn't enough compelling evidence that his dead and he has hope.
The Woman of course we're not suppose to like her, just like Maddy Mccann's Mother or tho I like how the show has changed suspicion of murder from the mother to the father, Maybe they were scared of getting sued for Copyright infringements!
The Potential for this story was great if it had a shorter story and not that awful ending. 1.Pay a better writer 2.Pay a better director
Requiem for the American Dream (2015)
Power of Wealth
Noam Chomsky one of the best activists , Philosopher, intellectual professor of our time, a great genius that has had little to no media attention because of his views. He takes no sides but only describes the problems with our time. If you would like to understand the fundamentals of Concentration of Wealth and Power then this is the best documentary to watch. The interviews given by Chomsky are very descriptive with real life references to every point he includes. Anyone who has followed the works of Adam Smith and has read his books will understand many of the points described in this documentary about our financial institutions were described by Adam Smith about the industrial Revolution.
Highly recommended!
Top Gear: Episode #24.1 (2017)
Top Gear RIP
The BBC have gone from annoying to extremely boring. The three of them cannot work together. Their laughs were fake, apart from Harris Matt and Rory have zero knowledge on cars. The only presenter worth tuning in for is Matt. I enjoyed Chris's video blogs online about cars but he is trying to take Jeremy Clarkson's role shouting every opportunity he gets. Rory has no role and I believe will be the next to resign. There is no Stig as I have read in reviews this was a good call as Stig wouldn't fit in their new show. The audience was confused and didn't know when humour was said and couldn't believe this was BBC's attempt. The hyped trailer with very nice cars looked promising but the presenters failed the show failed BBC failed. Top Gear was Jeremy, Richard and May! They should back off and the the Grand Tour have complete freedom.
Stranger Things (2016)
Bringing 1980's Sci-fi back!
**I do not want to spoil this series for anyone so I've tried to keep spoilers out of this review.**
I finished watching this series within two days. As it has been stated in many reviews this series is a love letter to 1980's Sci-fi and I believe taken inspiration from the director Spielberg and many of his movies. The series brings out the curiosity in the actors minds by allowing them follow conspiracies backed by scientific theories. The audience is drawn in as the series follows a linear approach to its story very easy to follow how ever the Duffer Brothers do know how to build tension without giving much away. The children's acting are second to none, they take the audience on this incredible journey taking you right back to 1980. Anyone who enjoys Sci-fi will appreciate Netflix's monster Mystery Stranger Things.
The Martian (2015)
Important facts not showcased
Great film, showcasing the technological advancements, however taking into account many of the maneuvers are very much questionable takes certain factual elements of the film and turns them into fictional. Mars has been reported in many observational studies that devastating storms occur often what we failed to see in this film is the amount of time spent on mars with hardly any major interruptions. The film is mostly focused on NASA and how patriotic the whole concept is, based on the novel which was a great read the film defies many laws of space travel. having said all that I encourage viewers to watch the film and form their own opinion about the lack of factual implications. A recent film directed by Christopher Nolan in the name of Interstellar that showcases a great deal of theoretical physics, I could only imagine the outcome of this movie if it were directed by C.Nolan who is a master visualization.
