The Ghost Town Terror (2022)
Gunslinger Gulch might make an interesting vacation spot; show production needs work
I mean, it's entertaining, even if hardly believable most of the time. But hey, I'm entertained nonetheless, so it's okay. Went into it expecting real, so a bit disappointed.
I don't think it's the acting that's so bad, but the scripting and the general execution that are the problem. Even being scripted, this would be way more compelling if uncontestable or at least mind-bending EVIDENCE was produced at any point. The most solid pieces are the recorded audio and most of us know that's easily fabricated. The rest is mere suggestion and word-of-mouth. Production needs to find a way to up their game before they lose the still interested audience.
On a different note, I found several sites announcing rooms for rent in the actual ranch, but pricing information varies so much it's confusing. Fishy. Alas, it could make for an interesting vacation spot.
Run for the High Country (2018)
A Book That Wanted to Be a Movie
I absolutely love the premise, but that's about it. This is a potentially good story seemingly badly written if the movie is any indication. It feels like a book that was trying to be a movie and yet failed at both.
While I liked the multiple POV approach, there's too much "telling," which is saying a lot when you consider that, again, this is a movie, folks, not a book.
The acting is cringe worthy most of the time, though Paul Winters almost redeemed it right at the end.
I know this is a low-budget flick, but come on... some scenes are so badly executed they would be laughable were this a comedy. (Don't even get me started on the "wolf dog.")
But hey, I also loved the rugged landscape scenery. There.
I really wanted to like and praise this movie, but sadly, this is the best I could come up with. What a goddamn shame.
