Brilliant performances and story!
3 February 2022
The story is something that I have seen a lot in person so it is story of many Indian couples born in the 20th century. In a 24 year old marriage , the man starts to feel the indispensable value of the woman he takes for granted only when she leaves him but can't get himself to let her know how much he really loves her.

The cast was fantastic though. Ekavali Khanna looked way too beautiful even though she was trying to fit in a certain character, and Sanjay Mishra did his best to look like the typical Indian male, but both deliver their characters as do the younger actors in their roles, but I felt Pankaj Tripathi was kind of wasted there - but his role was integral part of the story and could have played out a little more, the city of Varanasi could have been a great part of the story as well but instead it looked like any city in Uttar Pradesh.

Best Bollywood Film of 2021!
28 January 2022
This is in my opinion the best film of 2021, There were two great Bollywood films low key releases due to COVID - this one didn't make it to the theaters. So didn't get a wide release. One had Vicky Kaushal in it (Sardar Udham) this one featured his brother Sunny Kaushal. It has become my favorite release of 2021. I saw it on Hulu in the USA, it was brilliant and very moving.

A very different type of love story (there are two love stories though) and the movie has some really beautiful messages - In life, whatever you take on, put your heart into it, do it with a passionate intensity (Shiddat). You will surely encounter your share of set backs, ups and downs, but learn to not only appreciate what you get in life but also recognize it for what it really is....a precious gift.

The whole Soundtrack Album of Shiddat is beautiful and every song is fantastic, great music, rereshing vocals, lyrics with lovely meanings. It is one of my favorite soundtracks of all time since Aashiqui 2 (before that I loved Haunted 3D and Jannat).

The performances of all the actors was brilliant and very natural. The characters were all loveable - they make you go through many emotions throughout the film.

It's a beautiful film!

The Arrival of Bolly Noir
13 July 2018
Season One only:

Hailed as one of the best works of Indian film-making.

It is a series based on Vikram Chandra's brilliant crime novel based in Mumbai, brilliantly told by one of the greatest film makers of our time Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane.

A magnificent adaption into a series but watching it is like a film, very impressive...if you have watched Gangs of Wasseypur, Black Friday, Dev D...the storytelling is as intense.

It has powerful performances by Saif Ali Khan (if you have seen him in Omkara, this performance supercedes it), Nawazuddin Siddiqui (will remind you of his performance in Gangs of Wasseypur and why he's one of the greatest living actors) and Radhika Apte, as well as even the smallest of characters - Sunny Pawar (Lion).

The story is raw, gritty and brutal but hooks you on from the beginning. It captures some very intense moments using silence. Directors Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane deliver beautifully a great crime drama. This series marks the beginning of a new genre in Indian film making - Indian Noir or Bolly Noir.

It has everything!
18 May 2018
This is a brilliant thriller/police drama that will make you cry and laugh. THe characters are brilliantly crafted and unique but also typical Russians. You feel for them, empathize and identify their joy, sadness, fear, etc.

The first season I would give only 6 stars but the second season upped it, the cinematography, the slick editing, the masterful performances. This will thoruroghly entertain you and keep you at times laughing or tearful. It is gritty at times and also intriguing. Second season is a real work of art - Looking forward to Season 3

Stunning, gripping, dynamic noir series
19 April 2017
Beautiful scenery, laid back pace but still a gripping series with great characters. Shetlands the location itself is a fantastic character.

Douglas Henshall is marvelous as Jimmy Perez, so is Steven Robertson (born in Shetland) and Alison O'Donnell in their roles.

Season three takes the characters but the story is not based on books. However it is really intense and we see Jimmy Perez suddenly wearing pretty trendy clothes - Diesel jeans and Barbour jackets. Ace Bhatti as Calvin Sarwar was terrific.
