Bap Jal Sajuneun Yeppeun Nuna (2018)
Loves this show, great acting from the lead actors.
This was my first time watching Korean drama and I loved the show. I started watching the show just to watch something different and romantic but I had no idea it would be so addicting. I loved how realistic and believable Jina and Jinhui's relationship was...I also liked the office plot around the problems Jina faced in and how she dealt with them. Like another review said, the theme song was kind of an overkill and I wished they used other songs throughout the show. I also didn't like the finale as much, as I thought it was a bit slow. Overall, the show was very absorbing and I watched it till the very end without getting bored and distracted. Recommend the show if you are looking for a romantic fix :)
Marco Polo (2014)
Very entertaining show!!
This show was much better than I'd expected it to be!! And it's good I watched it very recently, so I don't have to wait very long for season 2! It takes the first four episodes to build the plot and the characters, but it really picks up pace after this.. I have watched shows that have taken almost the full season to pick up momentum! It also helps that this show was ten episodes long, so it didn't seem to linger too much with its plot. I have seen negative reviews regarding historical inaccuracy, and a very diverse cast speaking in English. But, if you can get past this and abide with the commercial obligations of such a show then you can really enjoy a very well made series. I am not sure if the show intends to be a documentary on Marco Polo's journeys. Yes, they might have blown up the premise of an European merchant caught in a foreign country - But why not, when it makes for such an interesting story? The war and martial arts scenes are really well done, especially in the finale. I found all the characters to be very well etched out. And I really don't understand any complaints about acting, because it's the superb acting that made me stick with the show! Especially Benedict Wong playing "Kublai Khan", he's done a remarkable job as the emperor, who has much more to him than what might seem. Any comparison with Game of Thrones is inevitable because of the setting- But I wouldn't put it in the same league. However it's a great show, and I want them to keep going so I am giving it a high rating here.
River (2015)
Extremely well made show!!
I decided to watch this show after reading its reviews on Netflix. And, it surpassed my expectations. It actually has more layers to it than just being a crime thriller. The execution is so sharp and well put together. Such a great performance by Stellan Skaarsgard, his character is so well etched out, and he shows a wide range of emotions with such finesse and ease that you believe in him (and empathize with his insanity). Also, the show has very well written dialogue. Although, all episodes are available on Netflix, the show can be truly cherished if watched slowly, savoring the gradual unfolding of the plot. I look forward to watch more of the show (hopefully)!!
