Monk (2002)
The Monk: A Mixed Bag of Laughter and Cringe, Hindered by Silly Intro Music
The Monk" is a TV series that offers a mixed viewing experience, with its blend of watchable content and notable flaws. While the show manages to engage audiences, it falls short in certain aspects, particularly in its introduction music and dialogue execution.
One of the glaring drawbacks of "The Monk" is its introductory music, which fails to set the tone effectively and comes across as silly. This initial impression may deter some viewers from fully engaging with the series.
Moreover, the dialogue throughout the show often veers into the realm of cringe, with instances of cheesy and forced humor. The attempt to inject humor into the script occasionally backfires, leaving viewers rolling their eyes rather than laughing along.
For instance, in one memorable episode, the protagonist, known for his penchant for getting into sticky situations, decides to tackle a giant wheel, despite his lack of familiarity with it. When his assistant expresses concern and asks if he knows how to operate it, he dismisses her worries with a flippant remark, "How hard could it be?" However, as expected, chaos ensues, and the protagonist is forced to backtrack, admitting, "I'm not familiar with this particular model." This exchange epitomizes the show's struggle to strike a balance between humor and absurdity, often resulting in cringe-worthy moments that fall flat.
Despite its shortcomings, "The Monk" manages to retain some redeeming qualities, keeping viewers engaged through its watchable storyline and characters. However, the persistent presence of cringe-worthy moments and a lackluster musical introduction detract from its overall appeal.
In conclusion, "The Monk" offers a mixed bag of entertainment, with moments of laughter intertwined with instances of cringe. While it may appeal to those seeking light-hearted viewing, its flaws prevent it from reaching its full potential.
Psycho (2020)
Alfred Hitchcock would have committed suicide
Horrible script and poor performances. Myskin surely would get under your skin with this movie. A weak protagonist (in performance) and a disillusioned killer. If the police department acts the way it is mentioned in this movie, any one could become a serial killer and get away with their crimes. The movie is irritating right from the beginning. Protagonist's love for the heroine isn't convincing, inefficiency of police is not convincing, rebellious nature of Nithya Menon isn't convincing, the killer's motive to behead girls (i still don't know why) isn't convincing, sympathy of the victim(Aditi Rao) towards the villain isn't convincing, suicide of the killer isn't convincing. The fact that such a mediocre killer who doesn't care a bit about forensics and leaves so much evidence at the crime scenes got away with 13 murders at the very beginning of the movie isn't convincing.
