Best movie EVER. Yes, I said EVER.
How can I say that? The direction is flawless. The cinematography is exquisite. George MacKay's performance is a master-class lesson in realism. The signs in the trenches. The fountain scene. The flares lighting the night. The score. The Wayfaring Stranger, with wet, bone-weary, hungry, young shell-shocked MacKay. Each well thought out piece of this puzzle fits in exactly with the next, making this the most raw and beautiful picture I have ever seen. Wow! Well done, all.
Alive (1993)
Questions...
I love this movie. The subject matter is compelling and and the acting by each and every cast member is phenomenal. I know that some ofthe names have been changed. For example, the rugby team's leader in real life was Marcelo, but is assigned in this fim as "Antonio" played by Vincent Spano. My question is Danny Nucci's character "Hugo Diaz." Who was this person that he is portraying in real life? There is no one with that name listed as either a survivor or casualty of the crash. Please help? Thank you!
Isn't It Shocking? (1973)
Question, anyone?
I am not sure if this is the right movie, so this may or may not be a spoiler-type of question. Is this the one where a body is in a crate of some kind and Ruth Gordon chops off his foot because it is sticking out? I have vague memories from when I was a kid, and if, indeed, that is this particular film, I loved it! Thanks in advance for your help!
Poseidon (2006)
Just OK
I have heard people criticizing the dialogue, primarily, but I don't think that is the problem. The actors were fine, the CGI good (not remarkable) and even the dialogue was not terrible. I think it was the lack of character development. There is no one you are really rooting for. There is no dramatic tension, like in the original between Rogo and the preacher. There is no great love, like Manny's and Belle's. No super-smart munchkin to put in his two cents. The timid one in the remake is just not believable, whereas you could tremble along with Nonnie. The characters are two dimensional, and there is nothing to pull you in, to make you care. I know the original has an extra 20 minutes over this remake. I wonder if that extra 20 minutes would have made a difference here? Props to Josh Lucas, Richard Dreyfuss, Emmy Rossum, Fergie & Kirk B.R. Woller, for doing what they could with what they were given.
Buried (2010)
Question
With 20 minutes left in the movie there is a man who is not Ryan Reynolds playing Paul Conroy. Just one scene. Paul has gotten finished begging "Don't do this. Don't do this." Then, where the camera pulls higher and higher away from the actor in a seemingly topless coffin, there is a different actor. A cameo of someone integral to the film. perhaps? Ideas, anyone?
Guidance (2015)
Brooke Markham Fabulous!
I am not commenting on the show with my 10 stars, just this actress. This is the first time seeing actress Brooke Markham in anything & I am already a huge fan! This girl is superb. I am looking forward to checking out her other films. I can see a bright and shining future for this talented up and coming star!
M*A*S*H: Goodbye, Farewell and Amen (1983)
Question/Comment Missing Scenes
When I originally watched the finale on television, it was 2.5 hours long. No version I can find (even the box set CDs) has the missing time. That half hour has been deleted. I remember Margaret standing by some running water in her wedding dress, watching as body parts floated downstream. It was one of the most horrific and moving scenes in the whole episode, as I recall. I purchased the box set hoping that the finale would be shown in its entirety. No such luck. Does anyone know how or where I can view the entire, uncut, unedited episode? Thanks!
