Number 10 (2006)
Awful, Unwatchable, Disappointing...
South African film industry is still growing and recently shone at the Oscars. Then this movie (doesn't even deserve the title because it is despicable horrible) came along and tarnished that image. The dialogue is the worst I've heard. Funny enough because the script-writer is none other than Elsabe Roux who has graced our small SA soapie credits with her name.
A lot can be said about the crew that worked on this movie. The director having worked on movies such as Yesterday and Cry The Beloved Country... this movie also messes up that image.
The casting was bad as well. Collin Moss doesn't have the physical appearance of a provincial rugby player, let alone of a Springbok; which it what he wants to accomplish (being in the national squad). The talented actors who have made names in the industry must have joined the cast to make sure that bills are paid.
This is the one to avoid. It deserves all the Razzie Awards!
Generations (1993)
A generation of degrading soaps
This was one of the best soap-operas in the 90s when big name actors were around. This piece of crap has managed to make me loathe S. African TV soaps with an exception of one- Isidingo.
I think that this crappy work is just a way to keep S. African actors occupied and degrades their value. One member said a great actor needs strong lines and a good story to show his/her skills. An actor's connection to Generations is his own fall and the reputation will suffer severely.
I'd love to say something positive about this mediocre show but there just isn't!
