Black Summer (2019)
Annoying
The series with the most annoying, unlikable characters someone could possibly create. No character development. "They" are far too miserable, "he" is far too happy, "she" is far too frustrating.
An American Pickle (2020)
This Isn't Really a Review
But more of a 'how can you not like this?'
I loved the actual idea for starters, very different. Then there's not one but two Seth's which is great. The film has both comedic value and sentimental value and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. It made me laugh at various points throughout and also made me put myself in both characters shoes and see it from their perspective - 8/10
Maybe it was kind of a review.
Joker (2019)
Between a 7 and an 8
I thought this film was good but I just don't get the hype personally. The acting was amazing and the film was good overall but I think 'masterpiece' and 'film of the year' are a bit overused throughout the reviews. In no way did I dislike this film, I thought it was really good, just overhyped. I feel as though a lot of the 10/10 reviews are purely based on the fact that it already has amazing reviews and so people want to carry the praise further and that it is about the joker. If this film was released and was about some random guy in the same situation, I don't think the reviews would be as high but maybe that's the point.
Midsommar (2019)
Really don't understand the negative reviews
I saw this movie last night and really don't see how anyone could rate it so poorly! I'm not a massive fan of horror/thriller or whatever psychological type genre this was and I actually avoid them in fact but after seeing the trailer a few months ago I couldn't help but go see it because of how different it looked! Unlike many it didn't rely on jump scenes or the dark to evoke fear! It was just disturbing overall and made me feel uncomfortable at times which is exactly what I'd want from a film like this. It is around 1 hour longer than most other films of the same genre but didn't feel like I was in the cinema for as much as a minute longer due to how much it drew me in! I'd say it's definitely worth a watch if you're open minded and looking for something different.
