La Ciudad de las Fieras (2021)
Almost a movie, very far from being a good one
There are so many things wrong with this movie, where to start.
Character development is almost zero, they tried but failed. The dialogs seem very forced and out of pace, quality of the recorded voices is awful, I couldn't understand some parts. The story line has no point, nor objective.
If Fabian found a place to have work, get paid, have food, a roof, a lovely grandfather. Why did he leave after reading his father's letters? To do what in the city? He left the old man sick by himself. Why him and friends went to the place they were exposed knowing 2 of them were in risk of being killed? I doesn't make any sense at all.
There were so many scenes that made no sense from the 'real life in a poor area of Medellin' also from the perspective of a good script.
The rap battle scenes made no contribution to the film, just pointing out something like Fabian couldn't keep up with the battles due to sad memories and trauma?
So what happened with his father? A secret the director wouldn't want the public to know.
I wasted my time, I rolled my eyes too many times. I do not recommend this movie to anyone.
The Good Doctor: Decrypt (2021)
Everything related to the cyberattack is very wrong.
How did the writer made all this up? They didn't have budget to pay for an expert's consultation?
First, Lea doesn't have a cybersecurity background. She was a software developer and she likes/fixes cars. And from one day to the other she's a Ransomware expert? I'm mean to do what she did in the time she did it, she's a fu***ken genius, 10 years of experience working on the field at least. But not only that, she's also a Network expert, how many years she's been in the hospital, 10 years? BUT NOT ONLY THAT, she's also a computer forensic DIE HARD. She fixed the hard drive by herself, with no previous experience, for that job a company would charge 10,000 dollars to fix it in one day. In my country (Chile) there are 2 companies that provide this type of service, 2 in the entire country! . But, probably they thought: 'well, she fixes cars, maybe she can fix a hard drive' But that type of equipment cannot be found in a hospital! (hey boss, let's expend 10,000 dollars to fix our servers hard drive (the failure was also stupid AF) is easy to do it, any developer or car mechanic can do it!)
But not only that! She works alone! This awesome hospital only has 1 IT manager/network wiz, developer, computer forensic expert, ransomware expert. But when she was hospitalized she looked more like a ticket manager (probably looking into spreadsheets) .
It' so disappointing, they could have ask on StackOverFlow or even Reddit (/Defcon for instance) for some advice on the history line.
True Detective (2014)
Season 1 is great don't watch the rest
I don't understand how tell pulled of such a great first season and such a horrible second one. They were trying to kill me of boredom.
I didn't even finish the second season, it was painful to watch. Really.
Season 3 it too long for what it is. They could have done the same in 4 episodes without rushing. They just needed to fill almost 8 hours and just stretched the story and at the end wasn't that good. You would think the detectives are good at what they do, but it turns out took them 25 years to solve a case.
I hate the writers.
Ozark (2017)
Deceived by fake reviews
The series started at 9 ended season 3 at 3. From some point in season 2 things went out of control. For the writers at least. Some many inconsistencies I get a headache just remembering them.
You can tell they did a big effort to extend the plot hurting the consistency of it.
At the end of the series Marty and Wendy keep doing the same rockie mistakes they would do in season 1. There were also many stupid and for no reason deaths:
Ruth uncles was just too much and out of proportion. Luckily she was pardoned by Wyatt. Like every killing in the series.
The all plot surrounding Wendy's brother is sooo wreckless, they knew that him without the medication would become a dangerous person, they just let it became a vulnerability for everyone.
The murder of the therapist was also a pretty low spot in terms of consistency. Helen went there and left her name written on the calendar? As well as Frank's? WTF? They cleaned everything but that?
Makes no sense.
Another stupidity, the all situation of the trucks and the drone, why the Laguna's went to the US just to kill 3 low level mafia members and burn all the money? Why not burning the casino or killing Helen or killing the Brydes. They risked a lot crossing the border just to do that? Those actions might have prompt a military intervention on Mexico and just for that? Simply stupid.
Jason Bateman plays a slightly different character than the one he played in Arrested development, same manners, same expressions even same hair cut and outfit.
I regret having spent so many hours just to finish it. Don't make the same mistake yourself.
Night on Earth (2020)
Boring, slow, annoying narrator, nothing new
I'm a David Attenborough fan, let's start from there.
I fall sleep before finishing the first episode. They tell you over 20 times, that when it's night time it's darker, but when there's full moon is brighter. It's annoying. The narrator also tells you about this 'new technology', almost bragging about it. We get it.
They used this awesome technology to show you that big cats hunt during the night. Who could imagine that?
The story is boring, animals doing normal/regular things, documented hundreds of times. We all know that Lions fight with Hyenas, since the Lion King.
The only thing I found different was the 'scorpion eater' that the noise it made.
