Life & Beth (2022)
Wonderful look to a new side of Amy Schumer
Hats off to Amy Schumer for stepping outside her box of just plain funny and silly sketches/comedy. She acts naturally and the story hooked me in after one episode. The drama and real life family dynamic are compelling.
Through ups, downs, bad decisions, and high hopes, "Beth" (Amy's character) continues down a path of self acceptance and awareness.
It's refreshing to see Amy play a more vulnerable and authentic role.
You (2018)
JoYOUsness about this show
The recipe for "YOU" includes:
1 seasoning of Lifetime, added to a heavy 'Dexter' vibe, and a sprinkle of Dan from Gossip Girl.... but it was missing one ingredient.
Netflix.
Now that this show is streaming on such a large platform for another year: it is spicier and darker than ever.
Season three did not disappoint.
(Not to mention... the whispering narration by 'Joe' during each episode pulled me in like a Siren's Song.)
Stowaway (2021)
To infinity.... and.... ?
Not the worst movie so give it a try if you have an extra 2 hours!
Note: If someone calls you during the movie, I would advise to mute it! With all of the heavy breathing due to space suits, someone thought I was watching a different type of film!
Love on the Spectrum (2019)
Fantastic and refreshing
This 4 part documentary is unexpectedly charming. Each person has a unique story and a completely different way of navigating through dating while being on the spectrum.
I laughed, cried, cringed, applauded, and screamed at the tv. It will give you all the feels! Definitely worth the watch.
"Whenever a person is feeling bored or unhappy in their relationship with someone, all they need to do is stop and do one thing that everyone should do: smell the flowers. They don't bloom everyday" - Michael
John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch (2019)
A home run
I was skeptical going into this given the premise of the show.
All in all, it's a "what did I just watch?" kind of comedy special- full of laughs and sprinkled with a warm fuzzy feeling of love.
Kudos to John Mulaney and the kids for delivering an hour of politics-free jokes and insights that leave you with a smile and thinking about what your biggest fear is.... weird combo but it works!
Land of the Lost (2009)
Harmless fun
Look.... ya'll are being overly dramatic saying that this film is "stupid" and a "waste of time".... just remember: not only did you watch it, you reviewed it!!!! So clearly you have time to waste.
Danny and Will displayed classic comedic acting (outlandish, raunchy, ridiculous) but did you know that Cha-ka is Jorma from the Lonely Island Trio? Its physically impossible to have that much talent in a movie and give it one or two stars!!!
Worth a watch, and a laugh.
