Ghost Ship (2002)
I could have been great
"Ghost Ship" really could have been great. It's surprising, gruesome, and terrifying, with a surprise ending and a compelling demonic story. Yeah it would have been great.
Then we got the script. Good God! There some pretty corny lines in this one:
"Holy S****, you really are a ghost." "I know this isn't real, but Im gonna pretend it is"
And of course plenty of badly placed F you's. And the acting isn't really that great either. Julianna Margoulies wasn't bad, but she was given so many bad lines it doesn't really matter. I was however impressed by the graphics. Including the disturbing opening scene and the awesome finale. Yeah it could have been great. But there is just too much crap to look passed.
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (1999)
Felt like I LIVED in South Park
I wanna describe this film in 3 words: funny as hell. Speaking of hell you get a good look into it as well. What could be funnier than 8 year old cursing up a storm? A love affair between Satan and Saddam Hussein. It doesn't get much stranger than that. Or America in a war with floppy headed Canadians. And Terrence and Phillips "Shut Your F-ing Face Uncle F-er" song, or the fact a song like "Blame Canada" can be nominated for a Oscar. Its brilliant comedy. Trashy and disgusting, with some very tasteful moments. I was surprised because I didn't think this would be a funny film at all, but I was sadly mistaken. Its better than Beavis And Butt Do America an Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story. Watch it without laughing, I dare you. And while your at it, count the number of curses in it. It'll save me time to and you can just tell me.
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
What makes this 1 so great and the other 2 crap?
Honestly, every single 1 of the Star Wars films have been brilliant. All visually amazing and and all excellent to watch. Phantom Menace and Attack Of The Clones are still great. Very underrated compared to this 1, because I honestly think this film is one of the poorest of the series. But it is great. The ending gets to you. But its not the best of the series, like I've read in some reviews. The acting stinks. Except maybe Ewan McGreger. His final lines to Anakin are stirring. But Hayden Christensen seems forced. He could have done a heck of allot better. But the visuals are better here than in any of the other films. Lucas may not have an epic vision, just and epic budget, but he still knows how to entertain and impress.
Edward Scissorhands (1990)
Good. A little overrated, but good
I was impressed by ES. It wasn't exactly the excellent movie everyone made it out to be, but it is pretty good. I don't think Depp was great, but anyone else would have been crap. But the best creepy actor with the best creepy directer and you have 1 heck of a film. But the filmed seemed a little rushed to me. It was as if seeing a person with shears for hands was normal. Plus I thought the ending was cruel. It is the perfect film about prejudice. I learned allot from it. Even if a person looks different, they're still a person. And that person scored one hot chick. Winona should have been in this film more, but Dianne West was pretty good. The perfect mother. I enjoyed it, but expected a little more. Good job anyway.
Lord of the Flies (1990)
Poor Piggy, Poor Movie
What a bad adaption to such a good book. It was all around sloppy and not sad, just stupid. The acting was OK, thats what differs it from a 1/10 to a 4/10. The boys that play Ralph, Piggy, and Jack were good little actors. But you couldn't help feel sorry for them. Especially Piggy, who was so very talented and was killed so gruesomely (well, he was killed in the book to) I couldn't help but gasp at it. Really disappointed, especially seeing how the 1st one wasn't exactly a masterpiece either. Sorry fans...but its just a bad film. Don't buy it if you feel you need to. Its a waste of time and money. But if you do remember how well these children's talents were wasted.
Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story (2005)
Seems like 3 episodes of the show
The Untold Story is funny. Its no South Park Movie or Beavis and Butthead movie in my opinion, but you'll get all the laughs you need out of it. Its hilarious. As Stewie tries to find his real father after a near death experience, he is accompanied by Brian and Quagmire on a hilarious road trip to Hollywood. It's funny, but it's a little too raunchy at some parts (learn to expect that from Family Guy). So teenagers only should watch it. But the imagination of McFarlane is undeniable and downright flawless. Could have been a little funnier. There are times when you cant help but go "huh?" or "did he just say that?" but you'll enjoy it as much as the show.
4/5 stars
Heavyweights (1995)
Nothing great but still funny
I was a little surprised at Heavyweights. It was an actually very funny movie. Stupid, but funny. The characters are likable and Ben Stiller, who plays the work out obsessed manager of the camp, is at his best. Its also mean spirited to overweight kids but some kids that are bigger might feel OK after watching this film. And the kids in the film, which include Shaun Weiss, Kenan Thompson, and Aaron Schwarts, are charming, if not at times a little vulgar. But the film has no soul to it so, its not a failure, but its a pretty ordinary family film. Still, you'll wanna watch it for the funny jokes and fair acting by the kids. Its not a great movie, its not even a good movie, but its a good little time waster.
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
The supreme film adventure of our time
Just by saying its the greatest action film of all time, then breaking for lunch, doesn't do it justice. It was the best film, not only of 2003, but in years.
A stunning ending
The ending is so spectacular, Frodo's climb up Mt. Doom with Sam and the ring is a masterpiece of a scene, as well as the battle inside the mountain and the finale afterwords.
Great battle scenes
the Battle of Minas Tirith may be the most intense battle scene since the beginning of Saving Private Ryan.
Even a little scary
Gollum is frightening with his multiple personalities, as well as the intense battle with Shelob the Spider and Aragorns meeting with the ghosts.
All in all
A spectacular film, visually amazing, and even good acting, which you don't see in films like these **** out of ****
War of the Worlds (2005)
Best Movie Of The Year...By Far
I saw WOTW and I have to say, it blew my mind. I see Oscar written all over it. It was a fantastic film with a great story and great homage to the original.
The movie starts with lightning striking New York City. Afterwords, enormous ships burst out of the ground and begin zapping people to dust. It was gory but amazing to watch I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
Tom Cruise is great in this movie. He is one of the better actors out there today. But Dakota Fanning is the true star. She is outstanding as usual.
The film is scary, exciting, and even a little gory. The ending was nothing spectacular, but the film builds up so much its hard to end it. And the special effects were mind-blowing.
The aliens are cool and creative. Some parts of the film will scare little kids, and so will the suspense.
And its honestly heartwarming watching Tom Cruise care for his children the way he does A scifi masterpiece...and one of the best.

Independence Day (1996)
A surprisingly good alien epic
I found Independence Day to be a complete treat. It was surprisingly good alien epic that I have hardly ever seen. The fair script and the good acting carry the film.
It starts off with city sized alien ships that come to earth from the moon and hover above Washington D.C., New York, and Los Angeles. The cities erupt in horror, and by nightfall, the ship destroy the city with giant laser blasts.
Its an emotional roller-coaster from beginning to end. A story about the world putting away their differences for a worthy cause: to stop the aliens. Its something you don't see these days.
There were several clichés in the film too. Like Will Smith being able to learn how to drive an alien cruiser just after seeing how they maneuver in battle. I thought that that was kind of stupid.
But the graphics were spectacular. its easy to see how the film won the Oscar for best graphics. And the aliens, which aren't computer animated, were cool and believable. But you never really get a good look at them (but its was the same in Signs). Its spooky at times as well.
Its also politically incorrect. The cliché of U.S.A. saving the world is funny and a little predictable.
But if you can't like this film, filled with epic aerial battle scenes and emotional scenes. Its extremely likable, sad, and original. I would recommend seeing it just for the incredible story and where it drags out to a great finale.
So no, its not the best movie ever, but its a damn good one all the same.
