The Confines (2015)
Good horror flick
I am a horror fan and in my opinion this movie was pretty original and suspenseful. Yes there were some clichés but the concept of the plot is something unique for the genre. It is about a young, troubled woman who is doing a night shift in an abandoned building, with her supervisor. And what should be a routine task, soon turns to be a living hell. There is a surprising twist at the end, but I will tell no more about the story, because I don't wanna write spoilers. The director did a great job and there were some decent scares. Jason Patric was solid, as expected, and Louisa Krause was very convincing in her role too, who was completely unknown to me before watching the movie. Overall I would recommend it to all the horror/thriller fans, it is not a masterpiece, but it is certainly worth the watch.
Saved by Grace (2016)
From Tragedy to Hope
The very title of the movie Saved by Grace brings up a lot of questions and leaves loads to the imagination of the audience as to what the film is going to be about. The film is the story of a retired cop who can't put his life together because he can't get over the tragic murder of his wife. There are many things that can be appreciated about this movie. For example the performance of the actress Catalina Rodriguez was so excellent that it added to the interesting premise behind the movie. In many of the other tragic movies and dramas that have been filmed in the past there are a lot of useless subplots included in those stories. However in Saved by Grace this is not the case, and that is another reason why this movie does so well. What made this movie so interesting for me was that it was so touching to see Grace being so down to earth and putting other people before herself. Most people out there are selfish today. And it also gives people the realization that recovering from a real life tragedy isn't an overnight process.
Olympus (2015)
The Killer Introduction
I found this particular scene from Olympus extremely interesting which shows some decoy oracles. This got my attention but I just think that the scene should have been a bit longer and kept the audience guessing instead of giving away which one the real oracle is. The trick of any good artist is always to hook the reader into the story and keep them on the edge without giving away too much information. They did not do so successfully in this part of the first and most important episode in the entire series. And this here is the biggest blunder since the first episode is the most essential episode of all the others. The first episode is what determines whether or not people will keep watching the series or decide to flip the channel so to speak and watch something else. The good things that were done with Olympus though were the storytelling aspect. However I don't like the episode mainly because the suspense is rudimentary and completely gone from the pages of the script. What is special is the digital technology used to create the battle events in the story. The digital wall works well to create the realistic scenes of sword clanging.
