Horrors Both Cosmic and Real Haunt This New Adaptation
20 August 2020
HBO's newest series launched to a strong start, led by a trio of powerful performances from Jonathan Majors, Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Courtney B. Vance. A story of family unspools against the backdrop of 1950s America, fervently brought to life with a poignant attention to detail, integrating historical iconography to make the setting feel all the more real. So effectively real, in fact, that the show has proven intensely frightening long before the first monsters ever show themselves on screen, as our heroes fight to survive against the terrors of racism, made all the more horrific by being all too real. From the few glimpses seen so far, the cosmic side of this story will prove just as compelling, as we only begin to follow the Freeman family into the spiralling world of mystery.

Making The Case For A Moral Capitalism
9 July 2020
As one of the central interview subjects in "Fishing With Dynamite" points out early on, the idea of "Business Ethics" is often treated as a joke, an oxymoron, a contradiction. The idea that business, specifically the image of business within a capitalist system, exists only for the sake of making money is deeply ingrained in the social consciousness. Thus, when those seeking change address economic issues, the answers pointed to almost always come from outside the system.

But here, the documentary team makes the case for fixing capitalism from within capitalism itself, focusing on a diverse group of corporations that have taken innovative approaches to develop a business philosophy that holds onto ethics while still seeking profit. Regardless of whether their case is ultimately convincing to the viewer, the documentary presents its ideas compellingly and creatively, making topics that could easily become dull pop off the screen and sit with the audience for days to come.

A Warm Hug Can Save The World in This Family Adventure
28 June 2020
In "Jungle Beat," a mild-mannered alien on a mission of conquest brings the power of speech to a group of friendly jungle animals, forming a friendship that will have cosmic consequences. Ed Kear voices Fneep, the uncommitted conqueror, with an emotive sincerity, lending heart and soul to a stand-out character design, wholly original amongst the storied history of cartoon aliens. A purple lump of ooze with arms and a face, Fneep seems to sparkle with cosmic dust, a distinct look that stands out as the star, though the other character designs are certainly not slacking. When joined by his eccentric ensemble of zany animal friends, this team of unwitting heroes will have you rooting for them with ease. Endearing animation, memorable characters and exciting action makes for a family romp that will give kids a new favorite without becoming a chore for the parents to sit through.

An Inspiring Tale On and Off the Court
19 June 2020
"Take away the business, the media, the hype around the game. If you want to see pure love, look at Kenny." Kevin Durant's view of the subject of "Jump Shot" captures well the spirit of the documentary and the man at its center - a humble, unlikely star who saw basketball more as a means to connect with and help others than a path to fame.

Using artful and original story-telling techniques, director Jacob Hamilton and his team craft a powerful retelling of the story of one of basketball's most influential players who, until now, has been too often forgotten. Sailors is an easily-likable subject and his inspiring story goes far beyond the court, leaving the viewer fulfilled in more than just learning who introduced the jump shot. This documentary is one to cheer for.
