Moonfall (2022)
Everybody is an expert in physics and on how to make a movie.
No they are not. One reviewer compared it to Asylum productions. Are you kidding me? Asylum are experts in how to make a movie with little or no effort. They rip of new release titles and ham it from then on. It's annoying in the extreme. I do not see the comparison with this movie. It may not make total sense but what sci-fi or horror flick ever does? Ok I am desperate for something to watch. I admit it but this movie kept me entertained for a couple if hours. When I read the negative reviews (after watching the movie). I'm thinking. What's wrong with these people? "The movie doesn't make sense?" Look up the word fiction and think about the term nonsense. What you think you're gonna find? If you want real science. Watch a documentary. If you want to be entertained for a couple of hours. This movie might do it? I gave the movie a 10. Not because I think it's worth a 10 but because the people giving it a 1,2 or 3 are demented and I feel a balance needs to be struck.
Halo (2022)
Not everyone is a gamer never mind Halo.
My fav game was a racing game. You know. 95% behind the wheel of a car navigating roads. Now let's imagine a tv series? Are you really going to sit there for an hour every week watching someone else's hands on the wheel. I think not. Neither would you watch someone else's hands on a weapon popping alien heads for an hour every week and that's for folk who have played the game. You are going to have to expand the plots beyond the narrow view of the games in order to get a large enough audience to justify the cost of making it period. The gamers who are downvoting positive reviews are just showing exactly what a bunch of narrow minded children they really are. Sci-Fi (yes that's how it's actually written) is not for everyone. On the other hand. Politics is.
Cosmic Sin (2021)
I watched it twice.
This movie is so obviously bad. It makes 99% of the critics look like experts. Ok that's the movie. The critics disappointed in Willis and Grillo? Do you know any well known actors that didn't make a bad movie in their career? Perhaps they are lending their names as a leg up to some lesser experienced colleagues. Who knows? Everybody needs to start somewhere? I watched it twice. I'm a Frank Grillo fan plus I forgot I watched it already lol. I don't think Bruce was that bad. He didn't have much of a part to work with. Neither did Frank. The audio could have been better. So could the plot and the directing. I've definitely seen worse and it's not hard to find better. 2 years into covid and content is getting thin. The internet churns out tons of dodgy stuff so it's not hard to find something to be negative about. Narrow opinions and short sighted views abound. I like a bad movie with a friendly face more than just a bad movie so it's worth at least one star. This one has two. Watch it or don't watch it. I don't care. 2 stars in the movie and 2 stars for the movie and 2 times watching it after 2 years of pandemic. Hope you at least enjoyed my review. Bows and exits.
After the Lethargy (2018)
Terrible
Terrible. Not terrifying or even vaguely interesting.
Charlotte's Song (2015)
The audio might give you a headache.
Sound editing is extremely bad. Not sure what was being said too often so not really sure what was going on beyond the obvious. Not sure how a movie gets released in such a state? I'm also at a loss as to what they spent 2 million dollars on?
Gremlin (2017)
lol
I gave it 10/10 just to spite the naysayers. It's not the best sci-fi horror I have seen by a long shot but it is watchable and the end is amusing. No it doesn't have anything to do with the 80's nemesis "The Gremlins" or "The Twilight Zone".
There is some bad acting but hell, the best actors are really expensive. We live in a world where tech makes it easy to make movies but true talent isn't as widely available so complaints on that score will always be arbitrary. It makes an interesting point regarding fidelity in marriage but nothing new there. I thought it was better than anything you will find under the Asylum label so there you go.
2307: Winter's Dream (2016)
Interesting.
Ok not the greatest movie ever made but not the worst either. An average movie with a few really bad moments. Here's the thing. If a movie is really bad, and I mean really bad. I won't watch it through to the end. Neither will I review it simply because I didn't get the complete picture and that would be negligent. So here I am writing the review not so much about the movie but the reviews that have resulted from it. Honestly. The reviews are much worse than the movie. Littered with cloned comments and vitriol. Why is it when people don't like something. They feel they have a right to be down right nasty? There seems to be a huge problem here with people either not thinking for themselves or being hateful or both. I never read reviews before watching a movie. I don't always read them after and sometimes I might pause a movie and read a few reviews to find out where a movie is going in order to decide if I should continue watching? Reading amateur reviews is not a good way to decide wether or not to watch a movie. If I like the synopsis and or the trailers I'll watch it. If I don't I won't. The only exception are recommendations from like minded friends. What you gonna do?
Polar (2019)
Mad gets madder.
If you watched John Wick. You will not help noticing the parallels but they are or seem to be coincidental. I enjoyed this movie a lot. I am pretty sure the two lead actors and some clever directing made this movie and to discribe it as a B movie is, well, simply wrong. If you aren't into blood, guts and extreme violence. Give it a miss. I'm not a Matt Lucas fan and casting a well known cheap comic in a dramatic roll almost never works but I still found his performance fascinating dispite this and watching charactors inevitable demise was a bit of a treat. I give it 8/10 because it isn't the best movie I have ever seen. It is far from the worst. Switching the brain off in order to enjoy this movie as suggested by another reviewer is a good idea to the greater extent but how would one enjoy this kind of movie otherwise?
The Eye (2008)
Audio disparity.
53.50 minutes in and I paused it to read some of these reviews and write one of my own. First impression. I had to raise the volume to hear the dialogue. (I have a sounds system that can make your ear drums rupture and bleed at high volume.) Next thing I am jumping out of my chair to reduce the volume back to a comfortable level and now I can't hear the dialogue again. So I am supposed to be scared by loud noises instead of a well writen plot with cleverly directed suspense? Hmm? I do not like or apreciate cheap tricks like this so I am glad I didn't pay to see this at the cinema. I don't care what the rest of the movie is like or if it's any good. My interest ends here with this review. This movie is not for me. BOO!
