Traveling the Stars: Action Bronson and Friends Watch Ancient Aliens (2016)
Wonderment-Weeds & Wackiness. PERFECT
This show simply brings in a diverse range of ppl to watch Ancient Aliens & critique it while eating lots of food, drinking wine and smoking lots of cannabis. My wife hates it, but I sit through the Walking Dead crap for 3 hours every Sun night for the last 6 years so she can sit quietly and watch this. If you watch this with people it is more fun, get stoned & I bet it is even better. Stoners love this show, if you don't then your undies are TOO tight, get a joint, relax and enjoy Action Bronson & Co. for this most unique show.
Flawless (1999)
Stinker
I was begged to watch this movie by a friend that said it is really good. It started out like a play adapted to the screen with a few bumps here and there. It picks up with a plot but it is full disjunctive and broken attempts at making sense. P S Hoffman really tries, but he cannot get this role off the ground. Bobby Milk does what he does, act great. But he has a very limited chances to pull off the role other than to follow a grievously poorly written script that pales in comparison to the direction of use on the back of a stool softener box. When Bobby get the stroke he it gets better, that way he does not have to read the bad lines nearly as much. In fact if everyone would have had a stroke I could have given this stinker 3 stars. The best part is the end, it is over.
Inherent Vice (2014)
Hard Boiled High Jinks!
This film started out with a series of slowly developing scenes sprinkled with hand stitched denim and ZigZags galore. As the plot unfolds you will soon be treated to belly laughs, starting at the massage parlor scene. Juvenile laughs are everywhere if you are willing to pay attention. The plot takes us through "Doc's" exploration to find out where his ex gal pal is and how does it connect to the "Wolfman's" recent disappearance. Martin Short steals the show as a nutty syndicate leader. As Doc rambles through a series of oddball people connected to the case as well as Dect Bigfoot, a chocolate covered banana eating cop who trust no one, he discovers more is at hand than meets the eye. Without giving it away, I say watch it, its odd and funny.
Diggers (2012)
You may dig Diggers ... you may not.
Diggers is something that most folks will watch and a few will study for tips and suggestions. First I love the camera work. They take full advantage of their locations natural beauty..There is some good info for the metal detectorist. A little more explanation on "that sounds good" would really help those not so familiar with metal detectors. Energy and enthusiasm will got a long way and boy does Digger have it! After about 20 minutes it grates on you like listen to canned laughter. I have learned to turn it out and enjoy the digs and finds as best as I can. Please keep in mind that they have very sweet places to search and they only show a few digs per episode, in the real World you dig much more often. Diggers does a good job of promoting cooperation with land owners and basic metal detecting etiquette. Newbys just understand they are showing you the good stuff but they are digging caps/tabs/trash & foil too, you are not alone! Just watch Diggers and enjoy it for what it is.
True Detective: The Western Book of the Dead (2015)
Hard to top season 1
I loved season one. Southern Gothic with a very personal character study that made we want to see the murder solved and the realization that lives were being changed forever. Season two makes me feel like I am watching Chinatown II. I have no interest in who the murder is. The best part for me is the drab bar scenes, they have texture and if you look closely you may see some clues. Happy with the acting just not too much with the story or the atmosphere (directing). I find that Vince Vaughn and Colin Ferrell are stealing the show in completely different ways. I would watch a season three but I would hope that it was more like season one. In the end, I will finish this season.
