Death Sentence (2007)
Why do people hate this movie??
Now 1st of all, I love all different movies but as a revenge film this movie is awesome.
Lets start with acting, its got brilliant acting, especially bacon. U really feel the hatred he feels for the gangs The story is unoriginal however its done brilliantly, the punisher comes into mind but what death sentence wins for mainly is REALISM, and because bacon is a normal man, it makes you feel that this kinda thing could happen to you. The law fails him and the movie does an excellent job in boiling your rage for the system and gang members.
very well filmed, AKA the chase in the car park was all done in one shot, IMO its one of the most intense moments I've ever seen.
The violence is pretty high and brutal which is another thing I love. Violence hounds will be happy There are several plot holes but the director had to bend the rules a little to make the movie work, there is nothing to major though. Its very fast paced but had enough story in it without it getting boring.
This film kept me gripped from the very start and if a movie can do that, it's worthy enough and should get the respect it deserves.
4/5
Flashback (1992)
Excellent Game!
Its a total classic, excellent music, original game play, it lacks music for a REASON. Ur walking along and the right music comes up at the right time, it wouldn't work if its constant music, its an adventure game, not really a platformer. One of the main things i love is the fact that when u get hit you go flying on Ur back, which is something that i haven't seen in a game before. also the short anime sequences when u pick up items etc look great.
Don't expect a Mario game out of this, expect an original game with some amazing features that even today doesn't have (story, realism etc) One of my fave games of all time! 10/10
Saints Row (2006)
A true GTA beater
I'm a fan of most rockstar games like Manhunt, The Warriors and of course Grand Theft Auto. But I got bored of GTA San Andreas very quickly. However, as soon as I played Saints Row at my friends house I knew it was a GTA beater. Why? First off all, graphically its far better plus there's a lot more you can do like insurance fraud, hit-man jobs, and holding up stores (which you can break into at night and steal money out of the safes) The combat is far better and the whole customize your character works really well. Its cool how you can shoot out your windows in any direction unlike the terrible drive-bys in GTA. Also the explosions are really good. The vehicle goes flying in the air as parts fly of it which is cool. The shooting is really good. No longer does it just auto aim immediately at the enemies head to kill.
Unfortunately you cant ride on motorcycles and helicopters but the amount of cars and trucks makes up for it I suppose. But it would have been better if THQ stretched out a little further to give a bigger variety of vehicles. Thats the main reason GTA is better but overall Saints Row gains more than it looses. You can even by music for your MP3 player in Saints Row Overall, Saints Row is an excellent game that defiantly gives Grand Theft Auto a run for its money and THQ did a good job of fixing GTA's faults
Murder-Set-Pieces (2004)
An very good slasher film that beats most of its kind
Just watched this film with a mate and I must we were impressed. The killer is rock solid and the girls are extremely hot. How often do you see a US film like this? The violence is quite extreme and contains rape that makes Last House and I Spit on your Grave look like a G rated movie. The music is really good and has some good atmosphere. That Tony Todd scene is class.
I don't know why this film gets slammed. I've noticed that nearly every film thats entertaining these days get critized. If your a fan of gore, sadistic violence and really good and well done classic slasher moments then MSP is a worthy film to check out.
Also I don't understand how so many reviewers say that this is over-hyped. Most people criticize it so I don't see how thats possible. Great film and under-rated.
Batman Begins (2005)
A true review for this badly made batman flick
This movie is TOTALLY over-rated. It was REALLY boring and totally panned away from Gotham city for most of the film. Japan? Legend of shadows? WAY to weird for Batman. Plus when his parents got killed it didn't really feel heart pounding. The joker batman did it good but this one didn't. Plus they changed the story of batman. In the original batman movie it was the Joker that killed his parents and he got him at the end but Begins totally changed that and messed it up bad. Begins was unnecessary as the previous batman films explains everything you need to know about his past.
I'm always going to accept that it was a classic villain (Joker) that killed his parents than a mugger that probably worked for the scarecrow. The scarecrow was crap in the film, making very little appearance and didn't feel like a villain like the other batman films. Begins doesn't feel like a superhero film but instead feels like a badly made revenge film. Christian Bale did a bad performance and sounded depressed in his lines. He was too much like The Punisher and wasn't that likable in the movie (Keaton and Clooney were likable and had some humour. Bale was just boring.) In the other batman films I could imagine Batman helping out a kid in danger but I can only imagine Bale spitting at a kid. I know he's MEANT to be mean as thats why he becomes batman but he should still be likable and Bale didn't deliver it right.
Good things - 1. Some action that was cool (Nothing really special and remerable though)
2. Some cool effects
3. Some good acting
Bad things -
1. WAYYY to boring and overlong (We kept checking how long the film had been on for and wishing that the punishment would be over soon)
2. Bad and non-enjoyable performance from Christian Bale
3. Went too far with the story and complicated it too much. It was more like Tenchu and the Last Samari than a batman flick. If you watched the film from these parts you would NEVER guess that it was Batman. They should have kept in Gotham and the streets as that would have been more entertaining and realistic.
4. Not enough action and nothing special about the action they do show.
I bought this for my mate and he wants me to return this to the store and I agree with him. It gets a 2 star in most mags I check and I pretty much agree with that. If you're a batman fan then I Don't recommend this film as they TOTALLY change the story of Batman that we learnt from the previous Burton films and made it worse. I liked the thought of how the Joker was the killer. Stick to the last two film for bright action batman flicks and Burton's ones for your dark ones. Just bin Batman Begins and forget this fake story and remember the real one.
Fight Club (2004)
A very brutal and underrated game
Why do people criticize this game? Sure its not great but its not terrible. Fight Club has brilliant graphics. The blood effects are very good as you see burst noses, blood and bruises on fighters faces and even swollen eyes. At the end of a match you can do a bonebreaking move where you can do things like snap a guys leg or arm in half. This is the highlight of the game. The fighting feels a little sluggish at times and it wouldn't hurt to put more things to unlock and moves but they're is still a decent amount. Fight Club will keep you playing for a while. I think its the lifespan thats the worst thing about the game but it'll take you a while to beat the game with all the characters and figure out all the bonebreaking moves. If they gave a story for each character then it would have been a lot better but its still good despite this. The Soundtrack is brilliant and also lets you listen to your own tracks.
Despite its flaws, Fight Club is a good fighter that is really brutal and fun. It defiently deserves at least a 3 and thats why I'm giving it a 4 and not a 5. Its not the best but its certainly not the worst. Its a decent game that you should pick up for a good price.
