Secret Royal Inspector Joy (2021)
Worth watching for park tae soo rather than lord ra yi-eon
My rating is 8 only because if lee jae kyoon. Remove this guy's perfect acting from the series the drama drops to 5 or 6 for me.
Park tae soo kept me going. His eyes said it all.
An extremelyyy underrated actor. Desperate to see him in a lead role!
Other than that, story was a bit disconnected
Starting episodes were funny up till 6th or so. Then drama lost all continuity and scenes didnt fit.
Chicken fake voice of female lead was the most annoying thing.
Romance of leads was just okay. No feeling there at all.
Bromance of male lead and his two servants was good
Story: 7/10
Acting: 7/10 (exclusive rating for park tae soo: 10/10)
Direction: 5/10
Script: 7/10
Makeup/clothes : 9/10.
Gumihodyeon (2020)
AMAZING!
I was not a lee dong wook fan at all. No reason for it. Just didnt like his vibe. Randomly started this show. And damn was it captivating from the first episode. Like wow. From the oldest actor to the you youngest. All of them did an amazing job. Became a lee dong wook fan after this show. His role and character was something to drool over tbh. Anyhow.
Cinematography: 8/10
Would have preferred more graphics and animation for a fantasy show. Like transition from human to nine tailed fox graphics etc.
Musical scores: 10/10
Best i have seen in any kdrama so far! Just amazing. Mesmerizing. Beautiful. Sad everything. The scores were unbelievably good. Like more than the actor i am fangirling over this shows OSTs. Lol.
Acting: 8/10
Felt some character gaps in lee dong wook character when he is supposed to be acting all goofy and cute. Like it didnt feel real. Like it felt like he was acting. Usually in other scenes he was so engrossed in the character it felt like he is his character. This lacked kindof. Boah's acting was good too. Like it was average. Lee rang ( kim beum) emotional range was limited because of the character but somehow his acting seemed like it had more depth than main actor. Dont know why. (Not because i had the second lead syndrome. This drama gave me a very strong first lead syndrome lol. Nothing could overcome LDW role in the show:D )
Side characters acting was also good.
Main lead chemistry : 8/10 (could have been more from female actress side.
Storyline/ Plot: 7/10
there were obvious plot holes like big ones. So thats why the rating is an 8. Else it would be 9. The last episode twist and turns seemed an overkill thats why it never became a 10 star for me.
Script: 8/10
good dialogues , witty and on spot. Suited the characters arc.
Character development:10/10
All good if we exclude acting and plot gaps from role development of actors here.
Overall: 8 BUT still it is a MUST MUST WATCH.
The K2 (2016)
Only thing worth watching is soonh yoona acting rest is very bad.
I gave this show a 6. Only because i thought giving it a 1 would be a disgrace to Song-yoon-a's acting.
If we take the acting of this great actress out of scope. This show would be a 0 if that was possible. I am so disappointed in kim je ha character and im yoona as well. The plot is not strong at all. There are so many loop holes urghhh. If i type the loopholes itll be a review with spoilers. I want readers to know how stupid this show is before they start watching so that they don't get disappointed. I was a huge fan of ji chang wook but urgh. All ruined. To sum it up;
cinematography: camera kept shaking at each scene. It was 2016. Get some stabilizers man!
Story: weak and stupid at places no build up of any character except choi yoo jin ( song yoon a's). Extra characters without any story or need.
Music: sucked! No music complimented the scene even once. Weird chanting not suiting the scenes at all. Urgh soo disappointed I usually get a handful of good music scores from a kdrama if nothing else. This didnt even give that:/
Actors : only song yoon a acting was good. Ji chang wook acting was okay but character story was bad. Will not even comment on im yoona.
Miyaneh. But very disappointed :(
Agui kkot (2020)
Amazing Drama. Must Watch.
One line review: Brilliant Kdrama. Definitely worth watching.
Detailed review:
1) First and foremost i will commend the acting of lee joon gi. His role was the most difficult as it had all emotions. Happy, sad, angry, pyschopathic, evil etc. He truly truly pulled it off. Next moon chae won was also amazing her change of expressions from cheerful girl to a detective woman in some scenes exceeded my expectation. I believe these two main leads were the heart of the drama. Their acting and chemistry managed to cover up any inconsistencies in the drama. The kid's acting was too good for her age.
2) The direction of the kdrama was way beyond expectations. Usually kdramas are of two types either they are typical boy-girl drama with cliches or the drama is the opposite where it tries too hard to adopt an american drama theme. This drama was unique because it was not inclining towards any of the above mentioned styles. They showed a beautiful romance of a married couple just by matching the chemistry so well including a kid . Usually in kdramas which include many twists and turns, a lot of plot holes are left open without being closed. In this drama everything was wrapped perfectly. Even hae-su's role which seemed extra at first was nicely mixed with the story line. Enough to make you say that "maybe she was not that useless after all". The relationship between hyeon su and his father could have been explored more but its not something which would make you feel incomplete. They showed enough to not make you feel unsatisfied. A little more light on the father-son relationship could have been wholesome but this was fine too. All in all, extremely exceeded my expectations from the story point of view. Usually intense story with romance and mental illness and serial killimg and what not is not an easy thing to handle. I am an avid kdrama watcher and endings usually mess everything up but yeah this was awesome. Best thing: NO FILLERS. Pretty much ALL SCENES LINKED TO THE MAIN STORY.
3) The writers. Awesome dialogues. Acting plus the right dialogues and the amazing directions made the character of each person strong. It just seemed real. Even the supporting roles were wholesome. Personality of each main character could shine through clearly.
4) Cinematography was simply amazing. And so were the musical scores.
5) the flaws: the last episode plot and twist was an overkill. Completely unnecessary. So much struggle was already shown that last minute twist wasnt required. If the show had ended on ep 15 with a little epilogue then it could have been a 10 but the last episode just made it a 9.. there were a few small inconsistencies. Role of in-seo dad was not cleared. Story of the baek family and baek man u could have been more properly defined. My rating is 9 despite these things i mentioned in point 5 because according to the kdramas that air. This was by far the most captivating, well-directioned, well-written and well-acted. I have seen kdramas with similar ratings and bigger flaws and inconsistencies.
- A review by an avid kdrama watcher. ( who finishes 1 hour episode in 2 hours cause she replays the scenes multiple times to capture everything. Expressions. Movement. Music. Even the background people and scenes. 🙈
Byeol-e-seo on geu-dae (2013)
One if the best kdramas i have watched. Extremely great.
Except for the osts and songs Everything was perfect. The acting. The casting. The character build up . The story. Ending being wrapped up so properly unlike many kdramas.
Mixture of comedy romance emotional thrill .. Magnificent. TOOOO GOOD.
Hwarang (2016)
Bad story and character development. Good acting
I dont know silla history but i found a few things odd..
Story development was bad.
Too many things were shown. For example no proper screen time was given to V to make his story ending have an impact.
King jinheung was shown weak untill the end. He became king because of dog-bird support. I was expecting a strong come back by the real king but untill the last episode he was seen as weak. He saw his people get killed in bakejae and didnt come forward. The whole series showed dog-bird to be the perfect candidate for. King and yet its like all hwarang had pity on the ji dwi in hiding and just accepted him..
ban ryu side story was nice.. soo yun lokong ban ryu was sudden though.. but ban ryu and his complicated life was shown nicely. Soo hoo liking the queen was just meh. Acting by everyone was good. Chemistry of lead actors was okay. Not bad not too good. The bromance of hwarang was the BEST thing in the whole series.
Roboti Aniya (2017)
Def Worth It.
Definitely worth my time. Extremely underrated. Commendable acting of Yoo Seung Ho.
Chae Soo Bin good too. But YSH stood out because of the role he was given was diverse.
The King: Youngwonui Gunjoo (2020)
Drama was average. Pros and cons listed.
Pros:
1) The theme chosen for story line was good a good attempt.
2) given the overflowing plot.. Romance was surpisingly closed off in the end adequately.
Cons:
1) 0 chemistry between lead actors. Forced love. 0 expressions on lead actors' faces.
2) Bad cinematography/editing. No difference about which timeline is being shown.
3) too much focus on visuals of actor lee min ho. ( kinda like he was modeling half the time)
4) extra characters. Who add no part in the actual story. Example prime minister ko.
5) story execution was too fast. For a timeline drama.. things need to be clear about how much time has lapsed in between so that viewers can understand actors and their particular emotions better..
6) Since the main plot Is already so complex you cannot add random sub-plots to it. Too messed up. Because of which there were logical flaws and loopholes in the main plot.
7) bad character development.
W - Du gaeui segye (2016)
Senseless. Just like the webtoon inside this drama.
I believe this is one of those drama that are famous because of lee jon suk thats all.
Okay so yeah i know this is fantasy fiction but still atleast connect the plots lines and make it logical even in fantasy. There are major major gaps. The story is so upside down it seems like the writer lost track of everything. Honestly, this drama was written just like the webtoon inside it. Completely upside down and senseless. Even lead chemistry wasnt amazing . Urgh.. had high hopes from lee jon suk. Waste of time. Purely.
Neoui Moksoriga Deulryeo (2013)
Good enough drama
Everything was good in this drama except the romance of leads.there was absolutely no chemistry. So it wasnt very good on that note. But the actors were amazing in their characters. Everyone had a strong amazing character. Especially the female lead. Very non k-drama ish very realistic too. Good enough can be watched. First drama if lee jon suk so acting versatily i dont know but as the portrayal of a 20 year old high school kid he fitted well.
Osts abd background music is superb so is the cinematography
Sangsogjadeul (2013)
If you have time to waste . Go ahead and watch
Okay so i get its a kdrama and there is this natural order of korean dramas where the girl is desperate and the boy is the knight in shining armor. But please stop with the victimisation. I mean how unlucky could one be to always be on the bad side of everything. LITERALLY. Its not a thrill to watch such a lead role its just annoying.
Moreover, there was no chemistry between lead roles AT ALL. The side role of chang yong and bo-na were so much better in every way.
Also, the plot and direction i mean come on.. the plot was scattered all over. The cast was so huge only a few characters could actually develop during the show.
Oh and what is actually up with the male lead dressing i mean COME ONNNN.!
This show is proof famous actors starring can make anything a success.
If you're extremely free and have plenty of time to waste like me. Watch ahead itll kill your time the OSTs and side stories maybe. Main story is meh.
Neodo Inganini (2018)
Amazing and but unsettling.
I started this drama because the posters had a good looking actor as lead. It started off amazing. The lead actress was annoying but i realised how realistic they have shown the female lead, wanting money and a future and not a weak goody two shoes which is quite common in kdramas.. towards the middle it made me a bit grossed out seeing a human fall for a robot. And him becoming more and more understanding and progressing. It basically made me wonder how they would end this. How would they tie this AI robot being so human like and then properly converge it on a good end note. When the human nam shin woke up he was so rash. It made me think dude chill but i realized this is realistic too id be the same after being pestered all my life. Then his mom dr. Oh laura annoyed me that how could she leave her robot son like that but then i realized that too is realistic i would do the same for my real son. Then towards the end i expected the show to go awry because lets face it human - robot love is a definitely NO and oh laura is right in wanting her real son and not the robot BUT she realising about his human son becoming a potential murderer. So her comeback was not strange rather good.. also they showed the robot protected humans till the end they didnt portray that love changed what he actually is. But they show how he still remains a robot and follows his rule to save humans.
You'll think this review doesn't sound amazing like the title.
But damn.. let me say. The acting, the cinematography, the direction, the flawless portrayal of each character, their strong individual personalities, and the graphics and well the versatility portayed by Seo Kang Joon was Ah-May- Ziinnggg
The only drawback in this was the human robot love. I would have liked the three of them human nam shin robot nam shin and so-bong being together and so-bong together with human nam shin rather than robot.. direction should have gone towards that. But even if not that way. Then anything else but human-robot love. Because it makes me wonder about their future. No compatibility you see. Anyhow recommended for binge watch. Just cast aside that unsettling dealing of human robot love rest all is awesome.
WELL DIRECTED WELL ACTED.
