Certainly not gonna high five it nor will I pan it, it was alright overall.
Best episode I thought was the first, showed great promise & the pacing was excellent in that one, thereafter each show was a bit hit or miss, certainly slow n plodding in places with sporadic action, bit like real war i guess. It jus didn't quite gel for me, bored rigid in places waiting for stuff & meaningful scenes to happen.
Certainly missed Alfie Allen's character after his demise, thought he was the highlight amongst the acting & held it all together. A lot of the rest jus reminded me of some of the later Peaky Blinders which didn't really fit for me, the later episodes morphed more n more into that genre as well.
Soundtrack was great & fitted for me, but there again PUNK was my thing so couldn't fail there really, I mention as many have poured scorn on it but the clips suited the scene, at the club in Cairo we had Jazz/Swing which was authentic plus classical played on the Piano.
And as its the BBC they shoehorned in a few PC tropes as well which i'll only mention it passing..... preferred they'd stuck with a 1940's mindset.
So overall as the title says, its alright, nothing to get blown away by.
