The Last of Us: Left Behind (2023)
Most tense episode yey
I don't remember the last time I've been so tense and on the edge of my seat watching a TV episode. I think Craig and Neil have done an amazing job with this episode. I absolutely love that it doesn't fall into the standard horror storyline of "you don't know what lurks in the shadows" but did the episode. You know they will get bitten. You know that Ellie will survive, and Riley won't. You know it throughout half of the episode... Now it becomes a waiting game of "when will it happen" and for me it's so much stronger than "what will happen". The battle with the single infected is so underwhelming, as if to say "it's not about that, this is just a comma". Unexpected and beautiful, especially when contrasted with the epic battles before. I also love that the ending isn't a long good bye. The parallel with Joel is absolutely powerful.
All in all, one my favorite episodes of the series.
Acapulco (2021)
Super cute
Light-hearted and fun, and made me laugh out loud multiple times. Kind of like "How I met your mother" vibe. I cannot wait to find out how the story pans out, and the actors are super fun.
Not sure though if it's gonna be a full series, or a mini series.
Ted Lasso: Beard After Hours (2021)
Unexpectedly brilliant
I can understand why this episode is so polarizing, but I am with the "10" crowd. Beautiful exploration of Beards character, wonderfully executed, with great references. I could clearly see myself in Coach Beard's place, having a few nights like this myself. I do, however, agree it is an Avant Garde departure from the shows status quo, and so might be off-putting for some. I'm personally, very happy that the creators are open for experimentation, and trying to see what works, and giving others on the team the opportunity to grow within the show. Keep them coming!
Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet: Everlight (2021)
Wonderful storytelling
A beautiful episode, both visually and metaphorically. And a wonderful ending for a wonderful show. Can't wait for the next season!
Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet: A Dark Quiet Death (2020)
The best episode of 2020, of any series.
I don't think I've ever given an episode 10 before, but that one definitely deserves it! Never thought that an episode of something called "Mythic Quest" will make me cry from emotions - but this one did. The acting, the writing, the cinematography, the directing, the pacing - everything is top notch and beyond. This deserves any praise imaginable.
Ted Lasso (2020)
Unexpectedly good
This show is so much better than what I expected at first. Definitely worth watching. Been a while since I've seen a show with so much soul.
