Tokyo Vice (2022)
Based on memoirs; enjoyable and a peek into Japanese culture.
I lived in Japan during this time, as a foreigner, a lot of the mistrust and prejudice is accurate. The corporate life is fast paced and grueling. I saw some reviews complain about all the smoking portrayed, I would say it's actually pretty toned down. The majority of adult males in Japan smoke, and English is taught from a young age, people in Tokyo especially have some basic knowledge of it. Fascinating glimpse into this world, really enjoy it so far.
Cherokee Creek (2018)
Fun and crazy, surprisingly clever jokes if you pay attention.
If you want campy horror movie with a Bigfoot theme, this is for you. If does have witty moments and jokes that have pay off throughout the film. It's great to see independent movies that don't apologize for making it the way they want to.
In Search of the Port Chatham Hairy Man (2019)
A different kind of documentary!
The Alaskan scenery is beautiful, friendly cast who seemed genuine. They searched a remote area of Alaska and would have group discussions, but also single camera testimonials. No fake "what was that?!" moments. The only scene I thought was unnecessary was some of the food prepping. I'll be looking for a return to in the future.
