Luck (2022)
Great Visuals & Story With A Deeper Meaning
Was really looking forward to watching this & i was not disappointed, Sam Greenfield plays a great character in the film, she is gorgeous, clumsy, bright & just overall seems a really nice person in the film which makes you attach to her in the film. Bob the cat is another great character in the film, voiced by Simon Pegg.
The film starts off extremely funny with literally everything going wrong, Sam first gets stuck in her bathroom, so she tries & open it with a toothpaste tube, but that fails, then she opens the handle, then that falls off, so you get the point, now that amount of fails does stop throughout the film, which some people may not like, but you couldn't have a entire film just dedicated to Sam doing every single thing wrong in a row.
The film leads onto the magical place where luck & bad luck are made, this is the main setting for the story.
But there is a deeper meaning in the film that some people may miss, the dragon wants to only allow good luck into the world after both luck & bad luck stop, but Sam precisely explains that without bad luck, many people would of not met that someone special, or basically ended up in a good situation because of bad luck.
For example; Lets say i break down in my car, of course no one would want to ever breakdown, but imagine where the recovery driver turns up & you both know your for each other kinda thing, so you end up dating & maybe having a family, its stuff like that where the Ying & Yang work, or your MacBook breaks down, when you take it to the Apple store & meet the man / women of your dreams, it happens!!
I did enjoy this as it was just one of those real feel good films, combined with the love for Sam as a character i deffo would recommend this, if you have AppleTV of course.
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
CGi Amazing, Story Not So
So before i go into detail about this review i knew exactly from the get go that they would not kill off one of them, it was so obvious, of course they wouldn't because of money in the franchise, later down the line they may actually do that but not anytime soon, also looking at the trailer & seeing Mecca Godzilla on the trailer was a instant give-away that Godzilla & Kong would have to team up to defeat Mecca Godzilla. These 2 points alone sum up the movie.
Anyway time for detail
First off as always with these type of films you MUST watch in a iMAX screen or equivalent big screen (Subject to Covid -_-), the CGi was incredible, really well done as last time in King Of Monsters.
The film is effectively set in 2 parts, you have big awesome monsters fighting each other; then human parts that try to make a story, now we all know the past "Story" elements from the previous films hasn't been the best in terms of hard hitting scenes, but at the same time we cant have a solid 2 hours of monsters fighting. The human bits in this film are better than KOM but it still flys through many things that really needed more explaining, but hey; we are all here to watch big monsters fight, so the human parts you won't remember at all.
Now for the monsters, Godzilla & Kong fight through out the film which was good but then it leads to the final bit with Mecca Godzilla, now at this point Kong is almost K/O & Godzilla is losing against Mecca Godzilla, but of course the humans revive Kong & they team up against the unfortunately underwhelming Mecca G. Mecca G seemed like a absolute TANK of a machine at first literally almost killing Godzilla, but then along comes Kong & seems to make Mecca G seem a lot weaker. The end fight wasn't that long at all & i so wanted more of it, i wish it really showed the true power of Mecca G & making Mecca G really hurt Kong & Godzilla.
I would of loved to see Mecca G with both Kong & Godzilla on the floor, the humans shooting everything at it as it just stands there with its devil look while everything seems at a lost, then the humans EMP Mecca G giving Kong & Godzilla a chance to get up & then absolutely destroy Mecca G to oblivion. I think that would of been better.
The films end so abruptly it annoyed me, after Kong & Godzilla defeat Mecca G, Godzilla literally disappears into the sea within seconds, then it shows Kong in the hollow earth area as his home then the film ends..... thats it.
Overall the humans parts were bland as usual, great monster fights although i wish the ending was different along with the ending battle being better but i do think King Of Monsters was much better in terms of awe factor, Ghidorah just hits much harder than this film does.

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2020)
Missed Opportunity
So i have seen the first Borat film & it is very funny, so i was shocked when another Borat film was coming all these years later.
I will start by saying that i think it really is a missed opportunity, with the Covid pandemic going around that did not help with filming in the first place, but the point i want to make is that the film is a political statement in quite a lot of areas, the film is based around politics & the next election with Trump & Biden.
This was a bad idea, i don't want a Borat film that is trying to push a motive or suggest political things, what happened to the old classic Borat format. The film really does feel like its trying to be 2 things, one moment he is with a Priest saying that he put a baby into his daughter, which felt like classic Borat, then on the next clip the film is back to being about politics which didn't make me laugh, there was clips & segments that very classic Borat but for the most part i did not laugh anywhere as much as i did in the first film, first film Borat went around exploring the US, meeting different people & cultures, this new film totally a different vibe.
Most of the film is about his daughter that he plans to give away as a gift to the leaders, again its for politics, if it was for a different reason then it could have been executed much better.
I really think that he should of done a new film before the Covid pandemic & the re election or waited until the Covid is over so he can fully be in the Borat role which we loved, by all means if he wants to make a film about the election & politics then make another film, don't label it with the Borat format behave a lot of us didn't really enjoy it, my friends & family have even said its mot that great as the first.

Bloodshot (2020)
Needed More Films Than 1
So i was really looking forward to this film as the trailers look really fancy with lots of cool visual effects & awesome sounding nanotech, now i love films like this, but it was way to pushed into 1 film, they defiantly needed at least 2 films to explain everything, they could of easily made more films to do with this. We get some explanation in the beginning of the film of what is going on, that was all cool to watch, but soon after that all goes & we get straight into the rather boring story line of, nanotech brings man back to life and still has the memories of the guy killing his wife & he gets revenge a few times because the good guys plant a different face on his killer everytime. Thats the story in a nutshell, it does sound cool, but it needed more time to be explored, i would of liked to see the first film about the the nanotech company & how & what is done to make this nanotech & the tests they have to do on people with different results, maybe a couple go rouge & they simply have to kill them, but then leave it on a cliff hanger where they finally find a new strain of nanotech bots & then Vin Diesel come along with the cliffhanger of him being injected with the new tech.
Then the 2nd film is about him going through the new tech & him trying to be controlled by the doctor but then include his past memories & that he has to try & combat this, even make this film the 2nd one followed by a 3rd one where Vin Diesel then gets revenge on the company that bring him back to life. Thats my take on what the films could of been, but instead we got a rushed clunky bad acted film, albeit it with awesome looking visuals & such a cool concept which isn't to farfetched in the real world we would like to think.
I just feel like if they take out the cool visuals it is very bland & predictable. As for Vin Diesel, well he is basically Toretto in every film.
I really think they did miss a opportunity here & as a result of this, it will be another bad rated film that will be forgotten in the years to come. It gets a strong 6 from me purely on the concept & the visuals.

My Spy (2020)
Product Placement Film?
Haven't got to much to say about this film as its just a average 5, we certainly haven't seen the last of these films as they pop up every now & then. Some are done way worse than this & some are done much better, this one being in the middle, yea there are some laughs along the way but not every joke that is shown is funny & just kinda meh. There is some action along the way but not that violent, to be fair though it does seem to have some good character development with the main roles but the bad side doesn't seem to be much interesting. In another way it is showing that even love can take over your job & there is a soft side to everyone but at the end of the day its your job & as seen in the film, people do get hurt because of the job you have which in this case was being a spy.
Don't take this film to be some proper spy film, it is purely a laugh to pass some time, maybe the kids will like it more as it includes the various stupid fortnite dances that every film seems to have these days along with a insane amount of product placement, you know when a film has had to many products in the film, this film has Doritos, Alexa, iPhone & a few others, they make it really obvious, not that its a bad thing ultimately, it just shows they needed some extra cash & the dialog totally changes to suit the product rather than the film.
Its cool how they used the young girl to his advantage to help him with the missions but of course in real life it would never happen.
Overall though it was a laugh here & there, maybe more for kids than adults, but it will pass some time on a evening on the TV when it eventually comes out but this film won't be raved about in the years to come.

Fantasy Island (2020)
Cool Theme, Executed Poorly
I was looking forward to this film as the trailers made it seem good & i like the theme of a fantasy island with powers & enjoy watching Micheal Pena.
There was some major problems with this film, we were trying to figure out whether the film was a comedy or horror, there was some flat joke moments along with some more horror style bits. So is it a cross between both genres or a hybrid? Well it did not feel like a big funny comedy nor did it feel like a full on horror, i guess mystery would be the best way to describe the genre. But thats just one point, i felt like that the film was trying to give us all the details in 1 film, so it felt rushed, i honestly think they could of made it over 2 / 3 films to explain things properly, all we get is each individual "Fantasy" followed by a really confusing plot twist that twists again to make things even more confusing that comes to a abrupt ending with little to no explanation on what actually is going on.
But from what we get is that this island has some magical power to fulfil any fantasy, but Micheal Pena has to keep the guests fantasy alive to keep his fantasy alive which is his wife staying alive. Again it seems like a cool idea & i wish it had more films to explain it over.
I think they've honestly missed a great opportunity here & because of that it has terrible reviews which means it will be forgotten about & never talked about in years to come.
Also i was not aware that it was based on some TV show or a book from ages ago, after reading some other reviews, i will not be watching the TV series or the book if there is one.

Like a Boss (2020)
Casual Laugh, Enjoy
I have no idea why this film has had such a bashing, its not That bad. If your expecting some world class leading film then don't watch this film but if you want a laugh & something to enjoy then give this film a watch. Its about makeup & actually has a important message in the film which i don't see people mention, a makeup company that is run by the women that love & enjoy there passion, not over doing makeup or going overboard, wants to be brought out by a big makeup company that only believes in selling & saying that you only can be pretty with lots of make up. The women don't like this idea & try to rebel against the big company.
The film is set at a good pace & the cast is pretty good, there are quite a few laughs in the film that will make you giggle, yes they won't have you laughing off the end of your seat but me & the cinema people were laughing. Its not a feminism film about women, its just women enjoying there company & having a laugh. Its also good that a good variety of women are used in the film, not just glamorous white women.
The reason its gets a 6 is because i didn't feel like the film was bland at points, or lacking in depth, along with the pace, jokes & good story plot, i enjoyed it, i didn't want to leave or feel frustrated or wanting more,
Just go into this film with a group of friends & just enjoy what its showing you, have a laugh & pass some time.

The Invisible Man (2020)
When No One Believes You
Finally a fresh new idea for a film that hasn't been done many times before & its done very well.
The film is very good at setting the tone for the audience, you may say its not a horror, but when something invisible is haunting you, something you cant see is there, it really plays on the mind of the audience & Cecilia (Played by Elisabeth Moss), she does a amazing job of playing that crazy mind person throughout the film where no one believes her, because lets face it, if something is invisible, you would never believe someone until they slip up or be less careful when being invisible. In terms of the film maybe being called horror, its not the usual type of blood & ghosts type of horror, it is purely something you cant see, which in its self is tormenting enough, just imagine having something invisible in real life haunting you & playing on your mind over & over till you crack & got no where to hide.
The story makes sense, Cecilia's partner is a world leader in optical science but is very controlling in relationships & Cecilia try's to escape that life, but he ends up using his invisible tech to his advantage & use it against Cecilia. Cecilia has no idea on what to do at first to beat him, but she soon learns on how to finally reveal where he is, using paint at one point to reveal the suit he is using, she also uses some clever tactics like putting coffee granules on the floor because if he steps on the coffee it will leave a footprint showing where he is, so they defiantly thought of different ideas to catch him.
There is a few big twists in the film which we did not expect, so we literally had to rethink what was going on until they revealed what the plot twist was, it was very clever & thought out. Now with a film like this there was some bloopers we kinda picked up on but tbh we weren't to sure on what the actual answer was so we just left it.
We watched the film in Superscreen 2D & the bigger screen was nice to fill more of that empty space in the film, the enhanced sound was nice as well for the eery sounds.
Overall though a really good film that totally refreshes the scary genre of films & films like this don't often come along so this is a deffo watch.

Downhill (2020)
Comedy? Relationship? Who Knows?
Didn't see much advertising for this film so it was under the radar, the film is apparently a remake of the old version, i did not know that & won't be watching the original films.
From the trailer it was confusing to as what the film was about, one clip was comedy laugh then the next clip was about a relationship then about a snow disaster? Really confusing to what the film was trying to tell us & as a result the film had a weird vibe to it, if you strip the minimal comedy away from the film you are left with a very flat film, the other scenes are just odd, there just talking, not much character or feelings were passed through to the audience, you could tell that their relationship was not going well but all because of the avalanche, Will Ferrell legged it & left his wife & 2 kids to get hit by the snow, I'm sorry but they had ages to get inside to safety in the building rather than taking pictures & videos on their phones they could of easily been okay, but the thing is you would not just sit there for a whole minute watching it, so that was a really silly part even though that was meant to set the tone for the film.
Also his wife ends up kissing one of the instructors when she goes off on her own & yet it seems like in the film that it was okay to do that? Where as Will didn't do anything to cheat in the relationship, i found that really odd.
I did not go into this expecting a comedy , but what was i expecting, well from the trailer like i said, you don't know what you are expecting.
Overall though we were in a cinema which was fairly busy & there was not many laughs, a lot of just flat scenes which no one gave any reaction to.

Dark Waters (2019)
We Have No Idea
Some people will find this film boring as it does have a lot of talking but it is relevant talking & you have to keep interest on what is going on in the film & what clues are presented throughout to build the story of the film. It is a very powerful film with a deep meaning on what really goes on behind the big logos we see on a daily basis, no one knows the hidden agenda of these big companies & what there out for, its all about money & profit.
The first half of the film is about building the story & finding out what is going on, a farmer is desperate to get a lawyer to pursue as to why his cows are dying, chemicals are the culprit. So Mark Ruffalo who plays Bob in the film, decides to take this case on & has to go through a insane amount of paper work & documents to find out what the company's have hidden, it makes for a really interesting watch as he finds out little bit of evidence here & there to help his case while mostly everyone is against him. The film keeps you so hooked on what the outcome is going to be & through the film the years pass with not much happening as it just shows how hard it is to pursue these companies.
Couple of bloopers i found in the film, in 2012 Bob was still using a brick Motorola phone, I'm sorry but in 2012 we had the iPhone 5, also the same cars were used in the film throughout the years which again they would of changed, especially in the later years of the film but i won't nit pick.
But overall it was a really good watch with a deep meaning on what the bigger picture is & till this day they are still fighting for cases & that this chemical is a forever chemical. Scary to think what else is actually going on behind the scenes.

The Call of the Wild (2020)
Doggo's Adventure
Didn't see any trailers for this film really so i guess the budget wasn't that high, so i saw it going through the Cineworld app & gave it a watch.
I felt like the film was in 2 halves, the first half was about Doggo luxury & spoilt life & how he then became tricked into a cage & then how doggo ended up having a much different life. Well after doggo gets captured he ends up in the cold mountains & becomes a snow doggo that pulls the sleigh for the mail delivery, but throughout this he goes through some pain, heartbreak some sad moments. But doggo is soon on his feet as the sleigh puller, but as doggo is way more stronger than the current leader husky dog, they end up having a fight for the lead dog & doggo becomes out on top. But at this point Harrison Ford has been rarely seen in the film as he comes in on the 2nd part o the film, so after doggo getting back on his feet the mail run suddenly comes to a end & doggo is left with no purpose yet again.
Then these rich people come & buy all the sleigh dogs but Harrison Ford doesn't like that & saves doggo from the evil rich people which then starts the 2nd phase of the film, Harrison doesn't know what to do with doggo so they go on a adventure down the mountains to find the gold, but doggo ends up finding a pack of wolves & he actually wants to be with the wolf pack but still likes being with Harrison.
The CGi was good, couldn't fault any bad CGi from the dog side & it was nice to see a non talking dog film for once. The film was defiantly more focused on the feeling aspect of the dogs & what they had to go through rather than it being a lovable cute doggo film. Yea you could of picked the film apart in a few places but don't take the film seriously in that way, it was just a good watch & apparently a remake of the old version? I didn't know a original existed & won't be watching the original if there is one.
Kids might like it because of the dogs but might get a bit boring at points for them so i would say its a mixed age film rather than for one audience.

Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)
Thank God For The Redesign
So yea ill start off by saying thank the heavens they decided to listen to the community & redesign Sonic, his original design was hideous to say the least, but the new cuter version of him is way better & the right thing to do.
This is a weird decision to say whether the film is for kids or adults, some people think its for kids, some think its for adults, well i think it is a bit of both because there are more childish parts in the film but then the film in general is cool for people that are into games like i am, so the kids just want see Sonic himself rather than us older people who are really happy to see their childhood game character on the big screen.
The film does go along at a fair pace not getting bogged down in to much story but it has enough story to make sense of what is going on, there are various laughs throughout the film although some are a bit more for the younger audience & i was sitting there listening to some of the jokes that weren't good but then more adult type jokes & humour came through so it has bit of both. Unfortunately it has that stupid dance from fortnite in the film which i just cringed at, that needs to stop. Sonic himself is likeable & the main characters are to, Robotnik is a awesome fun guy to watch in the film played by Jim Carrey, cant wait to see more of him.
There are some bits i could pick apart in the film like when Sonic's legs are working again they take the car rather than him running again when they are meant to be in a rush, also the fact that Tom was all over the news & being hunted down didn't seem to lead to anything else but the kids won't point these bits out so i will be fair.
Overall though it is a good watch & cant wait for the 2nd one!

Underwater (2020)
Cool Theme, But Generic Everything Else
The film starts off with a bang within 1 minute & boom, the plot for the film has already been set & the film starts immediately in the mining base that is slowly blowing up bit by bit. There is no story or anything lone those lines, what you have is the ending of a film in a way, its almost like Titanic without the first hour of the film, it jumps straight into the sinking stage. Which is a shame because the film has a very cool theme to it with the mining at the bottom of the ocean Marina trench with lots of cool machinery, i would of loved to see a bit more back story to do with that then followed by the blowing up phase of the film.
There is no character development as it just gets on with the film, people they find along the way just tag along & don't really do anything, you don't feel sad when someone dies or doesn't make it because you know that people are gonna die along the way as fast they find new people, what gets me is that they said it has a crew size of 316 or close & the escape pods can only hold 1 person, there barely any of this pods around so how on earth did all 316 people escape.
Apart from the film its self the theme & setting of the film is very good, we have a deep base at the bottom of the ocean mining for stuff, the pressure of the water is insane, the unknown is uncertain, theres deep pounding music & sounds to scare the hell outta you as you would be that far down in the sea with no guaranteed escape & no help from the outside world, your down there for months at a time with artificial light & sheer darkness outside the windows. In parts of the film they have to go outside & cross some the sea floor to get to another part of the base, them parts are really scary & totally change the feel for the film, you walk out of the base to total darkness, with these monster things roaming around that have awoken from the drilling.
But behind the cool theming it is a very generic film that you knew what was going to happen, i feel like with a bigger budget it could of been much better story & character wise.

Dolittle (2020)
It's A Kids Film, Relax People
Right so ill get straight to the point, its a kids film, not a adult film so why all the hate? Well you can review this movie in 2 ways, a kids review & a adult review which i will explain.
The Kids Review -
Kids will love the film, why, its bright, colourful, funny, got fluffy animals which kids want to see, derpy & cool personalities on each animal. you have a big bad Gorilla that actually is a softie at heart, you have a big polar bear who is cool & a awesome talking parrot with the approiate name Penny, a dragonfly with big googly eyes & many more animals. What more could a kid want more than that? A kid is not wanting a deep elaborate story with dense character worth, all they are interested in is having a laugh with some funny animals & judging from when i went to the cinema to see this film with my girlfriend, the cinema filled up to almost full with mostly kids & their parents, laughs were made throughout the entire film & all the kids seemed to enjoy it so why the hate from a kids view?
Adult Review -
Now, yes as a adult seeing this film it is not great at all but i do understand personally why it is a kids film hence why i didn't give it a really low score, the is almost 0 character building, the film races through at a very very fast pace, they jump from one area to another essentially skipping important plot lines, speaking of plot it has a very generic plot of some head person, in this case the queen has fallen ill due to someone in her circle that has poisoned her, but i do understand the very original of Dolittle was a adventure, not the Eddie Murphy films, which were fantastic btw. I knew from the get go that the big animals would be the scaredy cat in the film & i was more than correct, behold the big Gorilla was the softie that didn't want to hurt anything, i knew the parrot would have a motherly kinda attitude & was correct, you could really predict them things. Also was it me or did Robert Downey Jr speak really quiet in the film? Was it because he was putting on a accent, which sounded Welsh as well, the way he said Boy-O, & Barry sounded like Barri, not saying its a bad thing it sounded like Welsh but i am curios as to where the film thinks it is set or if Dolittle is from Wales? But still even with all those faults it still made me & my girlfriend laugh which is what you want at the end of the day. Just remember who this film is made for.

Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Just Fell Flat
Okay so before i start this review i absolutely loved Suicide Squad seeing as everyone keeps hating on it & Birds Of Prey is not even comparable to suicide Squad.
Right so i was really looking forward to this film as another Harley film was due, before i rip into the film i will say That Margot Robbie did do a good job of portraying Harley again, she definitely fell into character & hope she continues with the role in the future.
Now i am a DC lover & preference DC over Marvel so before anyone downvotes this because its a typical "bash DC" type review.
Following from the great acting by Margot only, all the other characters in the film have barley any back story & just tagged along to satisfy the plot, which was very generic of some bad guy gets angry & wants to kill the main character but in this case the bad guy wants to kill all of the girls because they have all done something to annoy him. Its almost like one of those films where each person has a mini part to the film then they all come together in the end but for different reasons. How many times have we seen that, i don't know what i was expecting going into this film but it just felt like another film to copy Marvel in a way, like she recruited people kinda way. I didn't connect with the girls or the villain because i didn't care about them like i do with other characters in other films, i felt like that was the problem, they didn't show enough to do with them, its just a mindless film, just look at the Joker for character feel, you can feel what he was going through & how he was coping, thats the connection the film needed with Harley alone, not with anyone else.
The villain is your usual bad guy within the film, he has money, power an can do what he wants & because a load of girls have annoyed him he wants to kill them & thats the entire film. But as a villain he wasn't really effective, he just did a lot of talking & got his henchmen men to do the work & by the end of the film its the usual scenario of bad team of 100+ people vs a few people & you know who i going to win.
I feel like the film could of been made in 3 ways, the way it is now being one usual recruit people type of film, the 2nd being like the Joker was, as in more about Harley, focusing on her & what she is going through after breaking up with the Joker & her getting back on her feet & doing crazy things Or the 3rd way which could of been Harley getting back at the Joker in various ways.
In terms of a girl empowerment film or anything like that i have no comment as it doesn't bother me who is who & what is what.
Overall we (Our film group of 4) were not amazed or going "Awe" or "WooW" throughout the film, it just didn't connect or make you feel any emotion for the film.
Hopefully Wonder Women will be epic as i loved the first WW film.

The Rhythm Section (2020)
- No Rhythm In This Film -
Here we have the typical cliche story line of someone killed my family so i must get revenge now, we've seen this so many times now within films that frankly don't make the best films, however if done right it still can be good, but not in this case.
The beginning of the film does keep you wondering what is happening & what's going on, but that quickly dissipates into nothing, because after that opening segment she becomes somewhat better & then the film continues, we then have a lot of talking about what happened in the past for Stephanie to become angry & seek revenge. There is just to much filler in the middle & not much of anything else, i understand some story is important to know what is going on but this is one of those films where you can feel there won't be much action within the film until near the end.
There is a lot of travelling about in the film to different locations just to find out some facts, it honestly doesn't make for a interesting watch or keep you hooked for the long run. After all of that we then get into some action finally, yes some of the action scenes are good but when it came to her trying to kill someone you could tell she wouldn't do it but it does change the usual cliche of someone from the bottom rising to the top & becoming this crazy killer we are all use to seeing but you could just tell from her character she wouldn't.
Overall its one of those films that no one saw advertised, had a low budget & was never going to be a 10/10 film nor be in the top 10 best films, luckily i have the unlimited card so it doesn't bother us (My film group) but i wouldn't pay to see this. This film defiantly won't be talked about in the years to come.

So before i give this film a bad review i really do understand that it was a true story & that women should not have to go through them things just to get higher up in business, so well done to them for speaking up.
Right, the film its self, well it was mostly talking & not much else, i know its not meant to be a action film or full blown comedy but sometimes talking can just be dull, especially when its a 1 Hour 49 Min film, i really think that this would of been better as a 1 hour TV documentary rather than dragging out the story to make it into a film just to get money out of it rather putting it on free TV. There is a lot of walking around & shuffling within the film, there are some more interesting parts where the women have to actually show there legs more & are subject to awkward situations which does set a tone for the film, then how it is all covered up & that no one wants to speak up.
Apart from that it just wasn't good, i certainly won't be talking about This film in the years to come, as i say it would of been better as a TV doc.
But at least we get to See Margot Robbie :)

Bad Boys for Life (2020)
The Film Try's To Be Bigger Than It Is
So i had high expectations going into this film, i was looking forward to a good action film with comedy throughout, well i was kinda disappointed in all areas tbh which i will go into detail about
It just wasn't that funny, i know some people dint find Martin Lawrence that funny in general which i kinda agree with, he is not a super funny person for the film but it just didn't seem right in this film particularly compared to some other films where he may be funnier, Will Smith was funny in parts but honestly we were in a cinema with about 50 people for this showing & it just wasn't getting people laughing, there were a few laughs here & there but nothing special, now i understand its not meant to be a full blown comedy film but judging from the reactions from everyone it just was not funny, they definitely could of added more jokes & better ones for that matter.
The film tried to be bigger than it actually was, especially at 2 Hours & 3 Min run time it definitely could of been 1 Hour 30 Min run time if it wasn't for the over thought parts, so i felt like they pushed the family side way more than it should of done for a film like this, i didn't go into this film expecting a deep family issue with Will Smith, like honestly, its meant to be a action / comedy fun film, they really dragged out them parts & just didn't feel right in this film which the group i was with all agreed, its almost felt like they copied that family issue from other films.
The action it self was alright, usual shoot here & there type film but again i felt like i had seen the scenario before where good cop / army guy gets told off for some reason then has to be told what to do by a team of other people that eventually get shut down, then they disobey the head people & sort the problem them selves, I've seen that so many times in films it just make This film stand out.
Overall it won't be a film i would see again or talk about in the years to come, but another one is on the way so we will have to wait & see how the next film plays out.

1917 (2019)
Your Next "Everything" Is Uncertain
This is one of those war films that is truly different from the others, having watched JoJo Rabbit the other day & then watching 1917, it totally changes your view on what war films can or cant be about, where as JoJo Rabbit had comedy in it along with some dark moments, 1917 was all grit & dark from the get go. The film is visually & musically simple but simple in a way that is really good at portraying war in a dark way, theres no crazy upbeat music, theres no cool camera angels or slo mo to change the picture, the way the film was made to look like it was done in one shot is really smart & cool, because it follows the soldiers every move while panning through the various trenches, looking past everyone that is there, waiting for a attack, waiting for next orders, everyone just waiting for that next uncertain move & that is what gives the picture such a beautiful presence. throughout the film. The camera work is spot on at showing the surrounding effects war has had on the land, whether its panning in on people buried under mud that have died, or birds pecking at a corpse or even the ton of barbed wire that is blocking the way with dead people stuck in them, or just the insane amount of mud. It's really obvious where they had to cut the film in places for obvious reasons but that doesn't matter.
The film its self is based on a true story which is incredible that the message actually got through to the other regiment to stop the attack to save countless lives, it just proves how important & vital things were back then & how anything & everything was set out to stop the message being delivered yet some how, with everything in the way & all the chances they could of died along the way, they managed to succeed, along with this & all the other messages that are sent in the war, it makes you really think that how on earth did they do it.
The film really does keep you on edge throughout the whole film because it keeps saying to you that every move is uncertain, you are literally wanting them to win & stay alive. At one point a nazi plane gets shot down & crash lands near the protagonists, then they proceed to help the nazi solider get out of the plane but you know what is going to happen, it blatantly shows a knife on the nazi solider & that he going to stab the English soldiers, i literally sighed & shook my head because it was so obvious that one of the English soldiers was going to die, now yes that may be the real part of the story but in normal films its normally a cheap way to get rid of someone so it kinda bugged me but it was real so whatever.
Overall though it is a brilliant film & 100% worth watching & also do watch in 2D iMAX because the picture is way more filling that what it would be on a normal size cinema screen so it can give you the most effect while watching the film.

Jojo Rabbit (2019)
Great Mix Of Funny & Serious
So everyone is saying this is not a comedy film & it turns dark throughout the film which is correct, but it has a mix of both rather than one or the other, the thing is with the dark parts to the film it is deemed normal within the film as of course back then it was normal for Nazis so laugh at Jews, for example; one scene JoJo makes a book about Jews and how bad they are, but when the german guards come in to check the house for a Jew hiding in the house they come across the book & all the guards read it & laugh about that it is in the book, but of course to them that is normal back then & portrayed as normal which does make you think.
But for the funny parts to the film they are in pockets throughout the film, Adolf (Played by Taika Waititi him self) as JoJo's imaginary friend is a great addition to the film as he pops up & does really funny things & says some funny things as well, but if it was nor for Adolf there would be far less funny parts which gets me onto my next point, apart from the Adolf parts there was not that much overall in the film, the beginning of the films starts off on a role with the comedy but then seems to fall flat through the mid section of the film which we (4 of us that watched it) ll said it felt flat & just talking & was a bit boring tbh, that's why i think without the funny parts the film would no where be as good hence why i didn't rate it that high.
Overall it is defiantly a watch because either way its a different take on war style films but not being about all guns & blazing violence for once.

The Gentlemen (2019)
Great Mix Of Story Telling To Make A Good Viewing
Great Mix Of Story Telling To Make A Good Viewing
So you might watch this film & think it is a load of talking, well in a way it is, but its done right & is broken up by great action sequences to do with the film, not to mention the film always keeps you wondering what happens as the film goes along, it would not make as good 2nd showing because you know what is going to happen.
The main talking parts of the film are with 2 people, Fletcher & Raymond, Fletcher talks in a very blackmailing way to Raymond the whole time because he has all the information for both sides of the story so he is in a powerful decision, but the way Fletcher delivers his part to the film is very enjoyable to watch as is script is spot on to how that character should be while Raymond puts up with him throughout the film.
The action scenes for the rest of the film are great, each character feels unique & in their own life, you have a good mix of people all trying to buy Micky's empire, they all try & undercut Micky or try to defeat any body else who tries to buy it instead. It was really interesting going through how Micky made his empire & where all his farms are hidden amongst the UK countryside, all the set up required & all the necessary people to keep it going, the film portrays this throughout the film.
Defiantly give this film a chance if you are not sure, even if you think its just talking, it is NOT.

Spies in Disguise (2019)
Good Laugh, Pigeons Are Go
So as always with new animated films these days we have a good looking animation film with quirky character designs that always give you a chuckle, Will smith being the tall & lean spy in the film with Tom Holland being the nerdy kid in the film.
As a 25 year old & my girlfriend being 24 we did enjoy this film even though it seemed it was more for kids but adults can still watch this, granted there was more child parts compared to slightly more serious parts, but not serious for a animation film if that makes sense, with these films you have got to let everything go & just enjoy a laugh, don't take it seriously.
I liked the idea of them using pigeons as the main topic in this film because that has not been done before when it comes to using one as a spy, it makes for quite a few good jokes & story line to do with pigeons. It also shows how Will Smith has to overcome the pigeons traits yet he still has to save the world, but being a pigeon he has some advantages so it does make you laugh.
The story its self is your usual good guy bad guy scenario, good guy has to beat a enemy & win, of course it simple because of the kids. But i do like the idea how the bad guy used drones for his army, it reminded me of Spiderman Far From Home, almost like they actually got the idea from that film.....
I gave it a 7 as i like the idea with pigeons, i like Will Smith & i did laugh, but i won't rave about this film in the years to come.

Blue Story (2019)
More Than Just Violence & Knifes
This film is more than just knifes & violence, people need to realise that this film has a deeper meaning than people think, yes the film has got a lot of violence in the film but that is showing you what happens in real life, but under all that violence & anger is a message that tells you that them people are just brought up in that culture, they don't really want to be in that life, they don't really want to go around shooting & stabbing everyone, there just there, in London, that's the life, people get caught up in that life whether your the girlfriend / boyfriend or even a family relative, people get hurt because of this.
That is the message in the film, or just don't see the film as a current culture film with all the stabbings going on & simply enjoy the film as a good action film.

Charlie's Angels (2019)
So Predictable.... & That's It
Not much to say about this film but as how predictable the plot of this film was, it could of been so much better rather going down the usual plot route of a good guy turns bad inside a corporation.
It's a shame they have used the "Charlie's Angel's" name because they have ruined its hope now, hopefully they will make another one, BUT actually make it good.
Theres just no sustenance in the film, jokes are minimal, acting isn't great, usual mild action here & there & not much else.
As for the director of the film blaming men for not wanting to watch women on the screen she could be not more wrong, as a guy i actually prefer women on the screen to men, but at the end of the day its about the writing of the film rather than just the actors.
Just look at these great women film franchises, Tomb Raider, Underworld Films, Wonder Women, Black Widow, Frozen, Dark Phoenix & even the 3 recent Star Wars films with Rae as the main protagonist & even the various TV shows with women leads. Look at them examples & learn from them.

Jumanji: The Next Level (2019)
Feels Like Half Of A Film, Lives Dont Matter
So i've seen the first film & absolute loved the first film so was looking forward to this one but was disappointed to say the least.
Lets start by talking about the character switch for the first half of the film which was not a good idea personally, i was hoping for the original cast to be in the role for the entire film but that was not the case, the reason i didn't like that was because it like a repeat of the first film where they had no idea what was going on & they had no idea about their abilities they were capable of which does have a few funny moments but gets boring quite quick because you know what they can do but there so clueless it made me feel kinda frustrated at points to where i was saying in my head, hurry up & get along with the film we've seen this all before, honestly i think it was a easy filler for the first half of the film.
Because of them things they go through their game lives really fast which have absolutely no meaning because then they have 1 life for the rest of the film & you 100% know they are not going to die so the lives thing is pointless & after all the cast have got 1 life they stop talking about the lives & move on to something else in the film, whereas in the first film they actually care about the lives they have & be careful, not just wasting them all in this film.
Also there is some really pointless segments in the film, one pointless segment was the bridge area with the monkeys, know my friends pointed out that it was a level within the game but then i said what level, all they did was walk up to it & decide to jump over some random bridges, there was no artefact or statue to get from doing the bridges, in fact they could of just walked straight past the bridges because they end up exactly where they started, at the beginning of the bridges so why did they have to even attempt it, again it just felt like pointless filler to me because it served no purpose.
So after all that at the beginning of the film the cast finally switch back to their original roles & the film can finally start, its similar business to the original when things switch but it still does not have that vibe the first film had. The protagonist wasn't even that scary or worth much in general, all he does is walk round talking, takes a few punches at the end & then dies to the Jumanji fruit, great........
Overall this was a big let down, have a read of my review after reading the good reviews & you will think twice on what you have just watched.
