One Piece: Wan pîsu: Powers on a Different Level! Luffy vs. Lucci! (2024)
Luffy vs Lucci is awesome!
I think this might be one of my favourite episodes ever and the animators really killed it. A Luffy and Lucci rematch is something I didn't think we'd ever see before this. This arc has been great so far and this is only episode 13 I hope it continues like this throughout the rest of the arc
The episode starts with akainu being told that the straw hats are on egghead island and he tells the troops to inform Lucci not to fight Luffy. We get a big reveal that Kizaru is going to egghead island to assist the government. Luffy and Lucci start battling and pretty quickly Luffy transforms into gear 5 and all its glorious silliness and they continue to fight. The fight is great throughout the entire episode
Dr Vegapunk tells the straw hats about luffys true devil fruit powers and his theory about the creation/orgin of devil fruits. His theory is that they are dreams and desires of what people would want to be in different realities
If this is true it's a huge reveal and it brings up many new questions about them
Dr vegapunk calls sentomaru and tells him what's going on and Luffy is there to help him escape. Sentomaru sides with Luffy and turns the seraphim against CP0. The seraphim take commands from the elders, the vegapunks then sentomaru and lastly CP0 in that order. Luffy knocks Lucci away but while Luffy speaks with sentamaru briefly Lucci stabs sentamaru ending the episode.
After this If you still dont like gear 5 I think you'll find it harder to watch the show from now on because this is probably how Luffy fights will go. I personally enjoy it because it's something not many other anime's would ever try to do and I grew up watching those over the top cartoons so I really like it
Once again I have to praise the work here. I think the team did amazing!
One Piece: Wan pîsu: The World That Luffy Wants (2023)
Joyboy is the one who will defeat me
I'm behind on one piece reviews but this definitely needed to be reviewed as it's the conclusion to the battle on onigashima
I'll get this out of the way immediately. My only complaint is that it took 2 episodes to for Luffy to actually punch Kaido. Personally I would've preferred if they finished everything else that wasn't Luffy and Kaido related in earlier episodes together. Looking back I can definitely see how 1071 was disappointing when you see that less than half the episode was gear 5/ repeated scenes, if they got the raizo, orochi hiyori, Yamato momo stuff out of the way first then have the main focus purely on the Luffy kaido fight, it would've been a perfect 3 back to back to back having 1071 and 1072 together in 1072 or 1073. It would've been better than to wait 2 episodes for this conclusion. But I still think it paid off greatly
I just wanted to get this out of the way and acknowledge it as fair criticism from the viewers. Now I'll get into the episode
We get to see a bit of kaidos backstory, he grew up in the vodka kingdom. It's citizens are treated horribly and inhumane by its government and they forced to pay a heavily tribute or they will lose their rights. Kaido gets captured and brought to its leader, the world government offered the county a spot in the reverie if they hand kaido over to them so they can force him to work for them in a draft. They accept but he escapes from their prison ship. After this he would end up getting captured and escaping numerous times.
Eventually he ends up on fullalead island where he's asked to join the rocks pirates by whitebeard, he accepts and joins the crew. We skip to the day when rocks d xebec was defeated by garp and Rodger and after hearing about his loss at god valley the rocks pirates split and Kaido goes his separate way. Later on he reveals his plan of going to kill the celestial dragons to his crew in wano
Back to the present, The last remaining cp0 agent flees the island. Raizos water continues to flow through onigashima putting the fires out and everyone else inside tries to get to safety. The flame clouds finally disappear causing onigashima to start falling and tilting. But finally momonosuke creates the clouds and he stabilizes it again and he begins moving it out of kaido and luffys way a taking it towards the ground for a safe landing
Luffy and Kaido struggle back and forth in a conquers clash but Luffy overcomes it and destroys kaidos Rising Dragon Flame Bagua (his flame clock surrounding him) and hits the Bajrang gun (a fist bigger than all of onigashima) and it sends kaido crashing down defeating him. While kaido falls we get a flashback with king and Kaido discussing joyboy and kaido states that he's the one who will defeat him.
What a perfect ending. The animation is top tier, the soundtracks match with the scenes, seeing a bit of kaidos backstory and the end with Luffy taking in his victory and seeing the messages on floating paper balloons. Even though I do think if it was better paced it would've helped it fit in better it's not enough of a problem to not give this a 10/10
Wano was amazing and so much fun to watch. I'm glad I watched it and experienced all the animators hard work and passion they put in this arc. They all did fantastic.
The American Barbecue Showdown (2020)
Fun and interesting but the judges hurt it
This is my first time seeing or hearing about Melissa Cookston and I really don't like her. Now I want to get this out of the way first I don't doubt her cooking abilities or skills, but I find her attitude crappy and the way she carry's herself is annoying. She gives off that I'm better than everyone else and I know everything vibes, Every time she's on screen it kills the mood immediately on the spot, she'll also make over exaggerated faces while talking to competitors and she'll look at them like they are stupid it's so frustrating even if it's fake it doesn't make her any more likeable. She's also biased throughout the series, as others have pointed out she and she herself said she doesn't really like onions, vinegary things or cold cheese. And in season 2 they complained about rare beef which is understandable for some but rare beef is still good in cases and is fairly popular, as cooks they should be willing to give it a fair shot, sure it's not medium rare or medium but they acted like it was a crime that T did that and they basically insulted him for it. She also wants people to make Spicy food but she always complains if something is too spicy for her it's weird
I'll use Gordon Ramsay as an example to compare them. And I'm not talking about his over the top character he plays in us tv programs but how he actually carry's himself and acts. I've never really seen him complain about specific foods he doesn't like. He tries everything and gives peoples food fair chances. He doesn't look at people like they are inferior or stupid just for explaining the cooking process or what they are preparing, he's willing to wait and try it and he'll travel and learn different cultures cooking and food practices. He hardly ever brags about himself to others and how successful he was. Whereas Alissa in this show just screams I think I'm the greatest and everything is below me and I know everything. Again I know it's a judges job to critique and give suggestions to competitors but she almost always gives them this face of confusion or disgust it's so blatant and it just kills the entertainment and vibe that the competitors bring every time she does it to someone and she does it to EVERYONE multiple times each episode
The other main judge doesn't really challenge her on food it's usually just them both agreeing which is fine if they both have similar tastes but then there's the other judges who get even less than half the screen time of the main judges and they cut their opinions out of the show so they are pretty much pointless and it feels like they have no real say
The competitors are almost all likeable, charismatic, talented and they bring their interesting unique cooking styles to the show. I'm half way in season 2 and I'm still enjoying it. The only thing really keeping me from giving this show a higher rating than a 6 is the judges.
Overall I think anyone who's into bbq or cooking challenges will enjoy this if you're able to ignore the judges weird faces or biases they have towards the competitors and food.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Thunderclap - Part 2 (2023)
Incredible work for only it being half done
Another 10/10 episode with no major flaws I can think of.
Before getting into the episode I want to take a moment to thank all of the animators for working on this episode. Recently Mappa has been overworking and underpaying their staff to the point of them breaking down online to express their frustrations. So I completely support them and apparently the rumours are this episode was only 30% done and it's still great quality. I just wanted to get that out of the way first
It starts with Megumi summoning Mahoraga, his strongest shikigami to kill Haruta. Megumi basically states that if he's going to die he'll take Haruta out with him. Sukuna arrives to kill mahoraga in order to save Megumi for his plan so they begin to fight all over the city
About 90% of the episode is their fight and it's genuinely one of the best animated fights I've ever seen. So mappa please give your employees a break. I know they obviously won't see this or even care but the animators deserve better and more rest. They've done an absolutely incredible job this season, it's far surpassed most anime's I've ever seen before, but they need a break. I really hope Mappa puts jujutsu Kaisen on break until things are fixed.
Dokutâ Sutôn: With This Fist, A Miracle (2023)
This show rocks
I love this show and I'm glad I waited to binge it when part 2 released
Kohaku uses a plaster mix made by senku to weaken the rock over night. She comes back and breaks it but it causes a loud noise and the boulder opens up. When she investigates a rock fell onto a glass bottle containing sand mixed with gold dust. She sends it back to senkus group with the remote controlled rat. When they get it senku discovers it contains platinum pieces in it.
We then get a look at senkus father byakuga. He worked for decades to collect platinum bits through straining water until he passed away doing so in hopes that one day senku can save humanity. He had a Great backstory throughout the seasons and it finally came to an end here helping senku in the future.
I'll leave the review here. This shows Just good fun and entertaining. I like the soundtracks used here
Excellent half way point.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Thunderclap (2023)
Best episode yet
I don't want to talk too much because this episode was mostly based around 2 incredible fights. You have to see it for yourself it's one of those episodes. Jujutsu Kaisen has been killing it this season with every episode. I don't think there's been a bad or even weak episode yet in season 2. The pacing has been great and the fights have been great too
We get some Toji flashbacks, a look at some new characters and their motives, sukuna finally being free and showing more of his power, the jogo conversation at the end
The animation and different art styles they use in the fights are fantastic and smooth here. Jogos voice actor was great here
10/10 episode. Paced perfectly and everything fits in perfectly. Sukuna is a brilliant villain that makes you feel the intensity and he has an aura to him that not many villains get these days. Mappa killed it!
Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Chapters: Special 2 (2023)
The end
I don't know what to fee after all this, joy, sadness. L. It was amazing for an amazing season. I luckily avoided manga spoilers coming into this but the one thing I always heard was that it was a bad ending. And I can see why people largely dislike it, but I like it in some aspects and dislike it in some. It doesn't have a very satisfying or a happy conclusion since basically everything eren did was all for nothing and he did all of this because he's an idiot who got power (in his own words) And it didn't even change anything because war still happened after he died. But there's a message to that, the cycle of war never ends and there's an after credit scene that supports that it's a cycle.
There was never going to be a happy ending once eren started killing billions of people. So for those who wanted eren and mikasa to live their lives out after this they will be destroyed like I was. Not many shows can get me emotional but this is one of them. It's clear they were trying to be realistic with the aftermath and with eren and his immaturity and him not being a completely cold, he's supposed to be pathetic in that scene near the end of the episode where he speaks with armin. But it still stings a bit, he's an idiot so 80% of people died. But that's what makes it realistic, He's still just a terrified kid deep down that doesn't know everything and does what he can. He uses his rage and anger to his advantage
One complaint is that we didn't get to see much of what happens after or how things are going with everyone, we do see the future in the credits and the scenery changing over what I'm guessing is hundreds of years. But I really wanted to see more of everyone before it was said and done. It's just a couple of minutes and minor scenes we get with them. I really would've liked to see everyone's perspectives in 5-10 years after the rumbling. Everyone became the hero's he wanted but since it's not touched on much after I think it's a bit disappointing
It had a wonderful soundtrack and some great action and animation, the pacing was great. The first half of the episode is fantastic which is why I'm giving this a 9/10. Just some small things that I think can't be overlooked.
I still stand by this show being a 10/10 overall. This ending was not for everyone but it's realistic in its message and I think it did the best that it could've done at this stage in the show. An all time great anime.
One Piece: Wan pîsu: Believe in Momo - Luffy's Final Powerful Technique! (2023)
Absolutely amazing
Amazing animation!
The episode starts off with momonosuke once again struggling to create clouds to reverse the descent of onigashima. He has a flashback to the day his mother died and the promise made and he begins to try and make clouds again
Luffy and kaidos battle continues with Luffy launching the lightning bolt into Kaido, he grabs a cloud in the sky and launches lightning bolts at him while bouncing all around off and on the lightning bolts into kaido. After a bit kaido uses conquerors haki on Luffy and Kaido tells Luffy haki trumps all and that a devil fruit won't conquer the world, he then hits Luffy with a destroyer of death thunder bagua sending him into the clouds above
Back at the flower capital they release the balloons while wishing for better lives. Luffy grabs kaido and tries to lift him up but he transforms into his dragon form and blast breaths luffy but he still doesn't let go of kaido
Back inside of onigashima Orochi is still on fire but he transfoms because the sea prism stone nail falls out of his arm and he attacks hiyori but it cuts away before we see anything
The Samurai and straw hats evade the remaining fire in the building. The samurai will accept death if it means Luffy wins against kaido and everyone begins to cheer on Luffy all over onigashima
Luffy hears this and the lightning storm rages on above and he makes his fist bigger than onigashima itself. He asks momonosuke to move onigashima out of the way then the episode ends
Wow they really went all in on this episode. The animation here might be the best in the series. Better than 1015, 2028 and 1062 since here it's constantly in every scene with kaido and luffy. It's fast paced and has smooth animation all around. They did everything justice, but I still think they should've included the final attack in this episode but I'm guessing they'll copy what they did with the big mom fight and have a mini montage next episode before it happens, that's just my guess from seeing the preview for the next episode. There's a new opening song and it's catchy. Overall one of the best episodes of one piece and probably the best episode in terms of animation in the series. It's definitely less goofy and cartoonish than 1071 and 1072 but it still has those elements here and there. Fantastic job by the people working on it.
One Piece: Wan pîsu: No Way Out! A Hellish Scene on Onigasima (2023)
Boring stretched episode
Well this was just boring. I get they are probably following the manga but this episode could've happened before gear 5 and should've happened before it. Same with the orochi hiyori stuff, it just takes away from everything that happened last episode. Last episode was fast paced and great, but this episode was slow and stretched out with very little actually happening. Everything here could've been done in 5 minutes or less. But it seems we're going to get another crazy episode in 2 weeks if one piece follows their trend of taking a break then delivering a crazy good episode. But this was bad in animation and pacing
The episode starts with Luffy and Kaido fighting a bit. Then we go inside of onigashima to the straw hats and allies trying to avoid the fires inside. Raizo and jimbei meet up and it's revealed that Raizo gathered water from zou inside a scroll before going to wano. He uses it and releases water throughout onigashima with the help of jimbei controlling where the water goes. And lastly Luffy jumps up into the clouds and grabs a lighting bolt from a cloud then the episode ends
That is literally all that happens in this episode, the last scene was moving a png luffy. This is easily the worst episode of one piece since episode 1037 and it could be worse because I don't quite remember that episode but it was rated really low. I know it may seem like I'm being to harsh but we just got one of the biggest anime transformations ever and then this episode followed it. Even in the bad pacing slow episodes usually something note worthy happens but here nothing made me excited. I hope everything pays off in 2 weeks
5/10 or 6/10.
One Piece: Wan pîsu: The Ridiculous Power! GEAR 5 in Full Play (2023)
The fight truly begins here
This is the episode everyone was really waiting for in terms of fighting and action, the animation here is fantastic and hilarious. It's a bit less cartoonish looking than the previous episode but it still kept of the silliness of looney tunes style which I love honestly.
The episode starts off with kaido confused since he thought he killed Luffy and Luffy thought he died too. Kaido thinks luffys awakening is strange since it's more of an exclusive feature to a zoan type than a paramyhia type transformation. Kaido swallows Luffy and Luffy tries to escape but fails and ends up in kaidos stomach where he kicks and punches him from the inside, he uses his ballon ability causing kaido to fall down and bounce around since his turned his body into rubber.
Yamato and momonosuke go to investigate whats happening on the roof. Luffy launches himself out of kaidos mouth and into the sky forming clouds and becoming a giant. Momonosuke and Yamato see this and can't believe it not knowing it's Luffy. Luffy grabs kaido and uses him as a jump rope then kaido blast breaths him off of onigashma but Luffy runs in the air to get back to it.
We cut to law and kid and others fighting off the rest of kaidos men and them saying Luffy has to win or everyone will die. Back on the roof kaido uses Conquer of three worlds ragnaraku on luffy and he falls face first through the floor below onigashma scaring everyone below before getting back up. While hes sitting he slowly starts to lose his white colour and visibly age, nearly losing his gear 5 ability. Kaido wonders who he is and he himself starts to feel the exhaustion of the battle. Yamato and momo see this and confirm it's Luffy and begin to be concerned for him right before Luffy gets back up and matches his heartbeat to the sound of drums regaining his gear 5 form.
They fight back and forth from here on and it's awesome. The animation and art style mixed with good sequences of fighting and the current opening of one piece playing made it a great couple of minutes. Kaido wonders what's wrong with him, being able to turn white and that he is able to use all forms of haki and fight so freely, he's never seen anything like this before. Luffy taunts him while lifting up the ground into a spiral bouncing off of it to hit Kaido. The episode ends with zunesha calling for joyboy and Luffy telling kaido he'll surpass him to become the pirate king
This was such a great episode. It was very fast paced compared to the last episode. I probably should've gave the last episode a 9/10 for it's recaps, repeated scenes and stoping the action for hiyori and middle but this is what everyone was looking forward too and worth the hype. Everything here is done with love and great detail in the animation. I can't wait until the next couple episodes since they should be the final episodes of wano from the look of how things are going. Next episode seems like the main focus will be the rest trying to put out the fires in onigashma so it'll probably be the episode after where we see the finale of the fight. But overall a very entertaining and enjoyable episode.
One Piece: Wan pîsu: Luffy's Peak: Attained! Gear Fifth (2023)
I loved it personally
Before you guys bomb my review I want to get some things out of the way first. I knew gear 5 existed but I never knew the extend of it, and I loved it! I like shows like looney tones and Tom and jerry and other goofy cartoons from the 80s and 90s and I grew up watching mainly cartoons so I really liked this episode personally. But I can see why some people didn't. The cartoon style blending into anime probably threw off many anime only viewers myself included, but for me it was fantastic, for others it was too over the top and the cartoon style didn't connect for them. It was also a bit stretched out on parts. Another thing to keep in mind is that this was a reveal episode mostly. But for the people who didn't like it I think that's completely fine honestly, it's a goofy silly unique power that's so different from any other anime power it's a bit to much for them. I can also agree that the orochi and hiyori part should've been last week because it did feel like a buzz kill, I liked it and I think the story that it was telling was great but the hype was all for gear 5 so it really hurt the mood since it dragged on to long with past recaps of odens adventures.
Personally I loved this episode but I respect why some people didn't like it. Now I'll get to the actual episode
The episode begins with Luffy popping up and releasing a huge amount of conquers haki to the point that the entire island noticed it. After coming back to life with his gear 5 look he jumps and bounces around on the ground and turns it into rubber, he laughs and wonders how he's alive. Kaido notices this and wonders what's happening on the roof
We cut to the five elders discussing further about luffys devil fruit and that they could not get it for 800 years as they think the fruit itself could be evading them. The fruits real name is the human human fruit mythical type model Nika. They call it the most ridiculous power since it's meant for the user to fight as free as they like without limitations, nika the sun god was a warrior of liberation and he fought as he fancied and he made people smile. They reveal it's true power when it awakens it gives the user huge amounts of strength and more freedom
Back to onigashima Orochi tries to beg to hiyori to help him and he tries to lie to hiyori to weasel his way out, but she sees right through him and pays no mind to his lies. He then tries to say he respects and applauds oden and she finally snaps at him. What's left of Kanjuros fire specter comes into the room to inform orochi that he failed. Orochi gives him his last order to kill hiyori but it's too late for Kanjuro and he walks into orochi setting him on fire and this finally kills him.
We go back to kaido killing more samurai and setting building on fire and out of nowhere Luffy makes his arm so big that he picks up kaido lifting him back to the roof to slam him. They go back and forth for a bit then Luffy expands his muscles and punches Kaido like a cartoon character and then swings him around. Later on Luffy turns the ground into rubber to launch kaidos blast breath back at him.
Overall I loved the animation here and even before the fully cartoon moments it was fantastic and the artwork in the impact frames and drawing art was great too. I find it sad that just because some people didn't like the cartoon stuff they called it trash which it's far from trash, I think everyone here did an amazing job and you can tell love was put into this artwork. But back to the other things. It definitely was a bit stretched out with hiyoris memories of oden and the recaps of Luffy and kaidos previous fights. One other thing to point out is that there's a lot of people over exaggerating how little kaido and Luffy fought here, I saw some people say it was under 2 minutes but that's definitely not true, they definitely fought for at least 5 minutes. But I can see how they were disappointed since there was a lot of recaps which were unnecessary, but next week it seems it'll be what everyones been looking for. But I really loved it and it made me smile.
The Patrick Star Show (2021)
Uninspired unoriginal cash grab
This show has basically no redeeming qualities and fails to capture the magic SpongeBob had. As someone who grew up watching the early seasons of SpongeBob and really liking it this doesn't feel special at all. I've seen about 5-6 episodes now and it feels worse than current day SpongeBob. It's a slap in the face to Stephen Hillburg on not wanting spin-offs and it's too over the top dumb to be enjoyable. There's new characters but they all fail to capture what the classic characters bring to the table, No one is unique or inspired here. I seriously don't understand why there needed to be a spin-off show and for it to revolve around Patrick, my least favourite character of SpongeBob. Every episode just feels like they just said to themselves let's make it as dumb as humanly possible. They could've just had more Patrick themed episodes in the original show and it would've made little to no difference. I'm just struggling to find something redeemable here but I just can't, It's just stupid for the point of being stupid whereas the original early SpongeBob seasons were witty, relatable, fun and not over the top and everyone could enjoy them. People over 10 probably won't care much for this when there's so many better shows on tv and streaming services. It's just mindless fun that piggybacks off of the original show's success
This isn't the worst show I've ever seen by any means so I won't give it a 1 or 2. But I can't put it above 3 stars.
One Piece: Wan pîsu: There is Only One Winner - Luffy vs. Kaido (2023)
Crazy ending
Luffy defeated?
The episode starts off with the ending of the fight between fukurokuju and raizo, fukurokuju falls down and begins burns to death. Jimbei saves some samauri and finds raizo with burns in the next room, raizo asks him for a favor
X drake gets up and stabs the cp0 agent from behind but it doesn't seem to affect the agent much and he escapes and kills or incapacitates x drake with a finger pistol then he heads towards the roof
Luffy continues to attack kaido with hydra, kaido still can't dodge his attacks and luffy stops for a moment then uses his king cobra attack but kaido blocks it with his club and they continue fighting again. Kaido still drunk asks luffy to stop attacking him, once luffy stops again for a moment kaido turns into his dragon form and swallows luffy, he flies high up above onigashima then spits him out and fires a blast breath into luffy sending him through onigashima. He almost falls into the lava pit but transforms into gear 4 bounce man last minute and flys back up to kaido and above him. Luffy uses advanced conquers haki on his new move over kong gun and hits kaido. It knocks him down to the ground and he transforms back into his beast form, as luffy charges at him he uses thunder bellow Bagua on luffy and it sends him down and he almost loses all his air almost losing his gear 4 ability. But he's able to hold the air in and get back up.
They both regain themselves and prepare for their strongest moves for the last attacks of the battle. Luffy flys at kaido and he's about to hit him with another over kong gun but right as he's about to hit kaido the cp0 agent grabs luffy making him unable to hit kaido and kaido hits luffy. Luffy gets defeated by this. Kaido becomes saddened that the battle ended similar to how his battle with oden ended and the episode ends there
Overall this was a fantastic episode. Kaidos and Luffys fight animation looked really great at the end and it was a fantastic fight. I'm excited for next week!
One Piece: Wan pîsu: Moon Princess Echoes! The Final Phase of the Land of Wano (2023)
Entertaining episode
The episode starts with zunesha asking for momonosukes orders while approaching closer to wano as navy look on in shock.
Yamato talks to momonosuke and tells him he's the future of wano but momonosuke says after reading his father's journal he notices the last page about the one piece and laugh tale was removed, he wants to know what's all this for. He begins to question if he's ready to lead wano and he's afraid to open the border
Franky saves zoro right before he almost fell off onigashima
Kiku and kinemon are being taken to safety by usopp and one of the turned beast pirates. Izo stays behind and battles the two cp0 agents in order to try and help kiku and the straw hats succeed. He tries to fight them with no luck and they attack him with multiple finger pistol attacks. As he's about to die he pulls in one of the agents and shoots and kills him before bleeding out. The last agent gets mad and wonders why some of the white beard pirates are helping the straw hats and what's so special about them. The last agent is then called by the five elders and given a new order to kill luffy by any means necessary
Orochi starts getting mad that fukurokuju hasn't come to save him and take him off of onigashima I believe (it's hard to say what he was mad at because all he said was what was taking him so long, should it could mean multiple things)
komursaki begins to play moon princess and it angers orochi because she's playing while everything is falling apart around them, He demands her to stop and then he thinks she's a ghost. Rocks fall down on him and it knocks him out temporarily. While he's down she stabs him with a sea prism stone needle so he can't use his power
He wakes up soon and wonders why she won't help him and why he can't transform. She says she has no love for him and reveals herself and tells him the song he likes "moon princess" is the song she played for her father oden. We get a look at her past with oden and Momonosuke for a short bit and this realization that komursaki is hiyori shocks orochi
Kaido gets upset that big mom was defeated and has a flash back to when she met him for the first time on rocks d xebecs ship. She warns him that rocks is not trustworthy and that if he has a problem he can go to her and finally she told him that she'll be the king of the pirates. He begins to cry over her defeat and declares he'll get the one piece because of his vow with her.
Luffy transforms into gear 4 snake man and uses a new move called hydra. The pure speed is too much for kaidos observation haki, he can't keep up and he gets punches hundreds of times and lastly luffy says he'll kick him out of wano at any cost.
Great episode overall. The hydra move, the flashbacks and izos sacrifice were all great moments. Pretty good animation and art style for the orochi and hiyori moment. There is probably 10-12 episodes until this arc is officially over and next episode should be an instant classic.
One Piece: Wan pîsu: Towards A New Era! Conclusion! The Brats' Resolution (2023)
An emperor has fallen!
Pretty good follow up from the last episode
This episode picks up from last time with big mom being hit by kids attack. Pretty fast she's able to overcome it while still on the ground. She begins to use her conquers haki and her soul locus power to take kid and laws crew members lifespans away. She tells law and kid to become her slaves and to forfeit their lifespans, but Law and kid refuse her offer and law uses a new ability called re room silence to create a barrier around big mom that blocks noise inside of it. The move is inspired by Corozans devil fruit power, which is awesome. While shes unable to speak she couldn't call out for misery and she wasn't able to take the crew members lifespans away anymore. Kid used another damned punk and it finally sends her through the hole and she falls down, law cuts misery in half (possibly killing Prometheus, napoleon and hera in the process, but I'm not totally sure about this) she falls into the fire specter while it was fighting Yamato, she grabs one of the frozen bombs while falling in a panic and it blows up destroying the flame specter and luckily not causing the other bombs to explode.
Momonosukes lifting onigashima up and he sees big mom falling through the bottom of onigashima. While she's falling towards the giant hole in the ground she wonders why roger spoke about the one piece and if it's real and where it is.
We cut to raizo and fukurokujus stand off in the parlaying spell and raizos completely on fire, eventually fukurokuju catches fire and falls over.
Big mom continues to fall and her life flashes before her eyes as she gazed upon the capital. She falls into the lava while saying she'll never forgive kid and law. She falls into the lava and a huge explosion takes her out. Law and kid have now defeated big mom leaving luffy and kaido as the last main battle on onigashima
Momonosuke continues to keep onigashima afloat while zunesha approach's closer and momonosuke says zunesha was a companion of joyboy from 800 years ago and the episode ends
Overall a feel good episode for law and kid. And it's the first time an emperor has been defeated/killed since whitebeard so this marks a huge moment and the animation was well done here too. All were left with now is luffy and kaido. This is it everyone we're in the last part of wano now!
One Piece: Wan pîsu: The Top Billing is Coming! Deadly Attack of Shockwave and Magnetism (2023)
What a great and unique episode
The episode starts with look at kids past and what lead up to this battle now while he's gathering metal parts for something. Momonosuke finally starts to reverse wanos descent. While taking care of keeping onigashima afloat he hears zuneshas call
Then we get to some of the best action, animation and art style I've seen in the show so far. Law and kid continue the battle against Big mom and for a bit they had the upper hand until Napoleon, Prometheus and hera combine together to create a woman spirit thing called misery. Misery almost instantly destroys kid with punch after punch. While big moms distracted law attacks her and eventually stabs through her chest with his sword. It extends breaking through floor after floor on onigashima until it goes through the bottom of onighasma and into the ground below. Big mom uses armourment to punch him until he's nearly unconscious, then his blade reaches lava he then uses puncture to release the attack on her and it knocks her down and causing a massive hole in the ground on wano. This gives time for kid to use the attack he's been preparing for. He uses the damned punk move on her and it blasts her down near the hole leading to the outside, then the episode ends.
Overall fantastic episode. I really liked the opening minutes of artwork for kids past experiences leading up to now. The animation was really great here too, the fighting was also greatly choreographed and clean. It's have some unique animation and art styles this episode compared to other episodes. They did a fantastic job here.
This episode is almost on par as the zoro episode if not just as great. Easily a 10/10 for the amount of effort here.
Vinland Saga: Two Paths (2023)
Just incredible
Peak television
Wow just wow. This show hardly ever disappoints and this is no exception. We continue with thorfinn and Canutes discussion and the Vikings begin to threaten thorfinn to leave. We then get this really amazing scene in canutes mind with thorfinn covered in a glowing light surrounded by sheep and Canute by himself in the dark only being talked to by his dead father telling him to kill thorfinn since he's dangerous to his ideals. It really shows the progression of each character and it's great symbolism all around. The sheep representing the common people and the light representing hope in thorfinn.
Thorfinn responds to Canute by saying he'll run away because he refuses to kill or fight anyone. He doesn't know whether Canute is right wrong so his option is to run. He and einar leave and this breaks Canute with his honesty and refusal to fight or have something up his sleeve. Canute laughs at this in disbelief and shock.
He looks at thorfinn and says to himself impressed that the Vikings are capable of producing someone like you when he looks at thorfinn. Thorfinn says he'll run to a place with no war and no fighting. He wants to create a place beyond reach of the Vikings. He wants to fill the hole that Canute can't. He says if you keep oppressing people eventually no one will save him.
Canute leaves the farm with all of his men and he's actually seen happy for the first time season early season one.
Canute disbands most of his armies and will no longer raid farms and the English people become more trusting of him after he stops pressuring them for resources. He feels like he gained new allies in thorfinn and einar and leaves happy.
Thorfinn finds purpose with einar wanting to create a world where he can tell people to live in peace, where he can make a place more appealing than death. A world everyone wants to live in. As they are about to leave ketils farm with Leif we see that Pater is still alive, olmar thanks them for everything and he wants to be like thorfinn. Thorfinn tells him that he's proud and that they should protect the farm at all costs. They thank the old master for his help too. They depart on ship and as they drift away Snake reveals his real name as roald son of grim to them.
Everyone came out of this episode happy except for thorgil who was all geared up and ready to fight Canute, he mad he couldn't fight and kill Canute before he left. He was the only one who was truly disappointed at this outcome
What a powerful and great written episode and season. It feels like the conclusion of the first part of this story (season one and two) a lot of the stories have concluded and wrapped up perfectly and I think they nailed it in every single aspect
Great soundtrack, great storytelling, great character development, great animation. Everything in this show is fantastic so I'm excited for the next and final episode of the season and to see where season three takes us next.
Vinland Saga: Emperor of Rebellion (2023)
Perfection
Amazing episode honestly. Compared to the last couple episodes where it focuses on multiple people and what they are doing this whole episode was focused on one thing so I won't have to explain much. This is easily one of the best episodes of the series in my opinion. A lot of storytelling comes full circle and there was a lot of great dialogue here.
It starts off with Thorfinn taking his punches and around twenty to thirty in snake and olmar find the fight circle and investigate leading to them trying to stop it causing thorfinn to get distracted from softening the blows and gets knocked down. Einar explains to them that he's doing this for the farm and Shake says it's useless to try and talk them out of this war, but thorfinn doesn't budge and calls both sides out for resorting to violence instead of negotiating or talking first and goes back to taking his punches. Before all the Vikings were laughing at thorfinn and after time passes they all watch on in silence and olmar cries over thorfinns will to fight for the farm. This was honestly a powerful scene. It was all respect at that point, after surviving the hundred punches he and Einar finally get permission to go and meet Canute
But before thengen asks why he didn't fight back and thorfinn states that there isn't any reason to fight since they all just met that day and they have no reason to hate each other and kill each other because this is ketil and Canutes war. He looks back on his fathers morals (I'm guessing because it was shown for only a second) and says the famous line
I have no enimes
Thengen brings thorfinn and Einar to Canute.
Canute thinks thorfinn must hate him after making him a slave and killing askeladd, But thorfinn forgives him and even apologizes for giving him his scar.
Thorfinn asks canute to end the war and leave ketils farm, but Canute says no and tries to justify the war because of the planned death of his men by the hands of olmar and thorgils to start the war. Thorfinn tries to argue that he's proven his point but Canute doesn't budge on this. Einar calls out his morals and reasoning and canute explains his reason for killing innocent people, it's to save the Vikings too and defy god by creating a paradise. After this there is lots of fantastic dialogue between Canute thorfinn and einar.
Canute is similar to how thorfinn was back then and it's almost like looking into reflection of his past self for thorfinn. I'll stop here because what are you still doing here reading this? Go watch it!
Overall this episode was emotional and the storytelling is at its best! A lot has come around full circle and I really like everyone's character growth over this last season. I truly think this might be the best anime this year in terms of storytelling and emotion so far.
Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
One of the greatest action adventure films ever
I just re watched this movie after 7 years so I wanted to review it.
A review for this movie may now seem pointless or irrelevant but it's one of my favourite movies ever and a movie I truly believe is one of the best action adventure movies of all time.
Many people will already know the plot and characters so I'll give this a small review.
In 1936 a professor of archaeology is contacted by two United States Army intelligence agents and they find him and talk to Jones about his former mentor Abner Ravenwood and his whereabouts which Jones isn't fully sure of but he believes he could be in Nepal, and they want to learn more about an important object that the nazis are searching for in Egypt. Jones believes it to be the ark of the convent, A gold chest when opened can unleash devastating powers enough to destroy armies and even mountains. They determine that hitler is after this power and they recruit Indiana Jones to get the ark before the nazis do. He accepts and prepares to travel to Nepal not believing in the supernatural powers as he only wants to find it for historical purposes.
He flys to Nepal to meet up with ravenwood and get his medallion that could be helpful in finding the ark. When he arrives he finds his former lover Marion who is ravenwoods daughter working at a bar. It's not mentioned upon much but it's implied that they dated when they were young and Jones wronged her in some way and she resents him for it. She tells him she that her father has died and when he asks for the medallion she says she'll think about it. Jones offers her 5k in cash and she somewhat accepts the offer for the medallion and tells him to come back tomorrow. After he leaves the bar gestapo nazi agent Arnold toht and his men (who have been following Jones and listened in on the previous conversation) enter the bar. They demand they get the medallion and she refuses to give it to them which leads them to prepare to torture her but Indiana Jones jumps in to save her (after presumably knowing he was being tracked) After a bar fight leading to the building burning down Marion gets the medallion before it's too late and says she's going with Jones to Egypt.
When jones and Marion arrive at Cairo Egypt after their plane flight he meets up with his old friend sallah who informs him about that his rival archaeologist and arch nemesis rene belloq who has stolen artifacts from Jones many times before in the past is there working with the nazis and they have begun excavating sites to find the ark. After some scouting and gathering information Jones and sallah realize the nazis are looking in the wrong place which gives Jones the advantage and he finally begins his search for the ark.
I think for now I'll just detail things I like and things I don't about the movie because if I go any further it's just pure spoilers and I truly think of you haven't seen this movie yet you should definitely watch it.
The soundtrack is one of the most iconic and well put together tracks I've ever heard in cinema. It's truly memorable
The camera work is phenomenal. There's a lot of iconic shots in this movie that still make me watch in awe
The special effects are still pretty decent at times but you can tell it's aged. I like the practical effects though
The action is top 80s cheesy action film style but it's honestly great and some of it hold up today. There's some bad cgi here and there because it's obviously an old movie, but it doesn't take from the experience
The acting's really good. Harrison does smashes his role as Indiana Jones and John Rhys-Davies is a really likeable goofy character as sallah. I also like Denholm Elliotts short role as dr Marcus Brody. He seemed really interested ao I was sad we didn't see much of him here but I'm glad we got to see him way more in the third movie
I specifically think Paul freeman (belloq) is really underrated here and he did a great job as the main villain of the movie. His actings great and that with his character is a golden mix. He isn't pure evil, he's more dimensional than just evil and has empathy and remorse when jones and Marion are trapped and when the nazis act truly evil he often objects to them or shows his displeasure with the actions they take. He simply wants to be apart of history and to find these lost artifacts but overlooks some of the evil things he does and associates with to achieve success.
He once compared himself to jones if jones went bad and took the dark route to get artifacts and treasures that belloq has taken. Great stuff
I like most of the Characters in this movie as you can tell but I did not like Marion, her actress (Karen Allen)did fine but as a character she's unlikeable in almost EVERY scene she's in. She complains and has that snarky tone 24/7. She often makes bad decisions and ignores what Jones says that makes you shake your head. She actually doesn't do much in the movie except for maybe one important moment but she's pretty much the damsel in dismiss and as the former love interest who eventually starts to love the main character again trope. There's parts where she's almost comically bad, but it's in a funny way.
Overall there's really not much I dislike about this film. It's a classic start to finish.
It's a 10/10 for me. Truly a one of a kind film.
One Piece: Wan pîsu: Luffy on the Move! The Turning Point of a New Era! (2023)
another build episode
This episode picks up after zoros fight with king comes to an end and zoro collapses to the ground, he's unable to get up and begins to bleed. Cp0 finds out the news of kings defeat and reports it to the other agents as they begin to worry that the worst generation could possibly win.
Big mom fights kid and law for a minute.
Yamato and fuga continue their race to the basement to stop the fire specter.
Usopp finds kinemons upper body and kinemon tells usopp to save kiku and kiku tells usopp to save kinemon, usopp rembers his time in dressrosa and becomes motived to protect them, He doesn't like the idea that either has to die so he stays to fight off the beast pirates. After a while he gets overwhelmed and is about to be killed until Izo comes in for the save to help them escape.
Raizo and fukurokuju use a parlaying jutsu on each other and both refuse to let go so the fire begins to surround them and raizos back catches on fire.
Cp0 take down Drake and apoo runs away. Lastly luffy and kaido clash for the last 2 minutes. Luffy knocks kaido down with gear 3 and falls down himself afterwards. They both get up and laugh and say it's starting to get fun
Decent animation but a bit slow until the last minutes of the episode with luffy and kaidos fight. We got spoiled last episode so it's not to surprising this is was slower this week. Not much happened this episode.
One Piece: Wan pîsu: The Three-Sword Style of the Supreme King! Zoro vs. King (2023)
Best episode of one piece this year!
This episode was Amazing, it was worth the week wait 1000% there's not a lot to talk about since it's mostly a fight the whole episode but good lord it probably has the best animation of any episode this year and one of the best fights I've seen so far all year. The animation is phenomenal and so smooth. Lots of love was put into this episode. If your here and haven't seen this yet drop this review and go watch it, it's incredible. But this episode is the conclusion to zoro and kings fight and contains a bit of kings backstory. It starts with them continuing their fight with zoro cutting kings mask off and finally cutting king in the process. It's confirmed that kings a lunarian to zoro and kings men so king kills them to silence them. They continue their battle outside. King reflects back on his first encounter with kaido on punk hazard as kaido breaks and sets king free while escaping. Kings was being experimented on because of his races power and kaido took note and freed him. Alber is revealed to be kings real name then Kaido gives him the name king and says he's his right hand man from then on. Remembering this motivates him to fight zoro even harder than before. After more incredible battling zoro performs the dragon damnation on king to win the fight, and while kings falling he remembers telling kaido he thinks that kaido is joyboy and he tells him that he'll remain the strongest and he'll never lose before it transitions to zoros promise to become the greatest swordsman to luffy and Mihawk. Zoro declares himself the king of hell. King falls off of onigashima to end the episode. Easily the best episode of one piece this year. 10/10.
Kimetsu no Yaiba: Yoriichi Type Zero (2023)
Decent episode
This episode was enjoyable for what it was. Tanjiro tries to stop muichiro tokito from beating up the kid. The kid says he's not giving tokito a key. Tanjiro and him get into confrontation and disagreement then muichiro tokito Takes down tanjiro and leaves with the puppet to train. The kids name is kotetsu and after checking up on him tanjiro tries to talk tokito out of taking the mechanical doll to train but tanjiro gets knocked out. He later wakes up to haganezuka and kotetsu talking before haganezuka takes off. Kotetsu reveals he gave it up to tokito and thanks Tanjiro for standing up for him. He tells tanjiro it's 300 years old and very import to him,it's strong and capable of 108 different moves but it's never been broken before. They leave to find tokito fighting the doll. A weird talking bird approaches them and tells them that tokito in a league above them. They argue and eventually tanjiro tells them that he thinks the doll looks familiar to someone in his dream. The kid tells him about inherited memories which is something that the people talk about in the town. It's a memory that passes down from ancestors. As they continue speaking tokito breaks the doll. Kotetsu runs away, after tanjiro calms him down they go back to the spot where the training was and runs into tokito on the way there. They find the doll slightly broken on the ground. They check to see if it still works and luckily it does. Kotetsu tells tanjiro that he should train with it to become stronger. They begin training. Around day 5 and tanjiro still can't hit the doll, kotetsu said until he defeated the doll no food. After a while of training tanjiro is finally able to read the doll's movement and land a hit in on it. After eating he starts training with it again he cuts it after tokito gives him part and it opens up to reveal a possibly 300 year old sword in its torso. This is where the episode ends. Overall decent episode, it's more of a build episode, showing you the characters and helping the basic plot move along.
Vinland Saga: Way Home (2023)
Fantastic emotional episode
This show is so great it's incredible. Almost every episode lately has been fantastic. The storytelling this season has been nothing short of incredible. I know it's had less action this season so far but I prefer it's slow build and storytelling. This show might be one of my all time favourites when it wraps up one day. This episode begins with thorfinn and snakes battle. It's extremely intense and greatly animated. There's some great inner dialogue between snake and thorfinn complementing each others abilities. Thorfinn questions why such a talented fighter is on a farm and snake questions why should a powerful fighter is a slave. After dodging back and forth for a bit Thorfinn Is able to land a couple blows on snake but he slashes Thorfinn leading to a standstill for a minute. Arnheid asks snake to let gardar go but snake refuses and stabs gardar in the chest in an instant. After he's done he informs arnheid and Thorfinn that they will face consequences for their actions, but as he's taking gardar gets up with his last bit of strength and begins to chock hold snake until he almost dies of suffocation. He's only stopped by arnheid speaking to him about their son hjalti. After he lets snake go and calms down. Arnheid leaves with gardar on Sverkels cart. Shortly after they leave Gardar begins to hallucinate while on the cart and he sees himself in different states along the road. He looks back on his life with arnheid and their son hjalti. He begins to bleed out slowly while talking to arnheid. He deeply regrets that he didn't stay with his family when he was asked to go to war and he sees his son in a hallucination one last time before dying in regret while saying he's home. It was an emotional episode with great animation, storytelling, a great fight scene and suspense. It's really picking up now and it's probably my most anticipated anime show weekly. This episode was just a painful emotional roller coaster and not many shows I've ever watched are this good at what they do. I'm genuinely impressed with this show. Overall a 10/10.
One Piece: Wan pîsu: Secrets of Enma! The Cursed Sword Entrusted to Zoro (2023)
Slowly picking up again
This episode picks up with zoro still struggling to get enma under his control and king capitalizes by attacking zoro and he falls through a hole in the ground. While he's down he remembers an old man fishing on the edge of a cliff from his village when he was younger and he remembers what the old man said. After zoro explains to the old man that he's lost to kuina again the old man gives him real swords to use while practicing. After remembering zoro realizes the old man was shimotsuki kozaburo, he was kuinas grandfather and the village was named after him, he eventually passed away as zoro remembers. Shimotsuki kozaburo was the old man who had left wano and started the village zoro grew up in. After the realization zoro knew the sword wanted to test him. There's a bit more of zoro and kuinas past interactions,
Momonosuke continues his struggle to keep onigashima afloat but he realizes he can grab kaidos clouds and stop it from descending by changing its rotation. Drake and apoo fight cp0 shortly and cp0 begins to get the upper hand until two of the numbers appear to help apoo. And finally zoro gets enma under control and king and his men confront zoro but zoro knocks his men out with conquers haki in a good animation scene. Zoro remembers his and luffys first interaction and his promise to kuina that he'll be the greatest swordsman ever and then the episode ends. Good episode, it's story and animation helped it to make it a pretty decent episode this week.
One Piece: Wan pîsu: The Strike of an Ifrit! Sanji vs. Queen (2023)
Perfect episode
This episode brings us the conclusion to the queen and sanji fight. It starts off with sanji remembering his childhood in germa and that he and his brothers were made for war. He and queen battle it out again and when gets the upper hand, eventually sanji breaks free of queens grasp and lands multiple kicks into queen. With sanji in control he once again reflects on him being a cyborg and what it could mean for himself. He accepts that it could be his fate but reminds himself that of who he is and he calms himself down and he will no longer refuse it, and he continues his fight with queen. But just as they are about to fight again queen uses a new ability turning himself invisible. He completely erases his presence and gets the upper hand against sanji again until osome (the girl from before) enters the room to look for her pet mouse. We learn that sanji didn't actually hit the women from before and that it was actually queen who hit her while he was invisible, queen felt betrayed by her rejection to his advances in the past. And Sanji finally comes to peace with things and he knows who he wants to be and what he wants to do. He finally breaks the emotional chains of germa and he'll carve his own future out now. After he breaks free of the shackles by germa he gains hope and confidence and His flames burn hotter than ever before turning blue. He defeats queen with the boeuf burst sending him flying off of onigashima. Afterwards he collapses and osome checks up on him and the episode ends. Overall this episode was perfect in almost every way. The animation is really great here, and with the great story progression with sanji I think this episode delivered in many ways and exceeded my expectations. The scene with the straw hats in his mind was also fantastic. Him finally feeling free of germa and Stella animation makes this easily the best episode in a long time. It truly seems now like we're finally in the last stage of wano after the last couple episodes felt stretched out. I'm really excited for the next couple of months.
