The Christmas Ornament (2013)
The Older You Are The More You Will Enjoy This
Christmas time is a special time of the year. For many of us it is the best time of the year. In this film that is true for Kathie the young widow who owns "Dream Cycle". The store she just opened with her husband less than a year ago. He died and the business is now struggling.
In the same town is Tim. He is a single guy who gave up on 401k and office work to live his dream. He runs/owns a Christmas tree lot with hopes of something bigger. His dream is to own a place where "Christmas can be celebrated all year long". Tim however is just getting over a break up. He meets Kathy one day on his lot. They click but both are afraid to admit it.
By chances they run into one another ice skating. They become friends but both are like teenagers. Afraid of being hurt and slightly haunted by a past relationship.
The ending is what you expect (AND LET'S FACE YOU WANT THIS TYPE OF ENDING) but everything that happens in this is how most people would react in real life. I love the fact everyone here makes mistakes and learns from them. I also love it that nobody is called "Stupid" for acting (or reacting) a certain way".
IF they ever did a follow up film I would have Tim and Kathie trying to bring more "Christmas Joy" to the town they live in. And along the way they there dreams come 100% true.
Christmas at Water's Edge (2004)
Next time Try Harder
This is film is a blender. It blends story elements from "It's A Wonderful Life" and "A Christmas Carol" and adds a Cosby star. The results an over ingredient film that has too much off everything and not enough flavor of anything else to make you want to sample more.
In this movie a spoiled brat must make up some school assignments or she will fail. An Angel in Training is sent down to earth to make sure she gets on the correct path or "He ends up in Limbo"
This film ends up becoming a huge mess and even a bigger bore. The cast could have delivered a great product but they need a better screenplay. AVOID!
The View (1997)
If you hate them don't watch
Listen this show has been on for years. Many ignorant people hate this show because they hate Democrats & love Fox News. I hate the Republican party and avoid FOX NEWS. I don't go on FOX NEWS IMDb page and bad mouth them because "I don't watch them and never will".
So racist white people come on this board and bad mouth the show. The sad thing is that are too stupid to realize that they are racist and the biggest problem this country has.
Racist run the police department and kill innocent black people. The run the court system and send millions of people through the court system for low level drug crimes. Witch cost this country billions of dollars a year. But America You stupid racist are too stupid to see this!
This is not the show for you to watch if you can't think for yourself. If you hate the show chances are you more than one of the following
1) Crazy 2) Divorced 3) Church Goer 4) White and feel like your a victim
The Arrangement (2017)
They Screwed this up
"The Institute Of The Higher Mind" is the name of the religion that is the central focus of this television series. Obviously that they use that name instead of "The Church of Scientology".
In general this show is about a well know Hollywood Celebrity who just broke up with his girlfriend. "The Institute Of The Higher Mind" however holds fake auditions for a film which is actually an audition to be the girlfriend of "The Institutes" most famous member.
The show is based on Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes real life. This show however needs to tighten its grip on the story lines. There is way too many people to keep track off.
Josh Henderson is okay in the starring role but his acting range (so far) is as limited Tom Cruise's.
What could of been a great show is muddled by "E". The show is not edgy because in reality they don't want Tom Cruise mad at them . If he is mad he will never have anything to do for the "E" Channel. That includes any type of interviews. That includes sit down interviews or stopping on a red carpet and granting one. He can also get the co- stars of his films NOT to do "E" when it comes to promoting a film.
Next year I hope "The Arrangement" will have a more central focus.
Christmas in the City (2013)
I should hate this but I don't
This film is so far fetched that it borders on camp however, Ashley Williams makes the film watchable and believable. This is not easy because this film has things that are crazy.
Example Angie lives in an apartment that she could never afford. Tom is "Good looking" "Nice" and "single"? Then there is Teeana Setting up Wendy and when she is caught she doesn't even go to jail?
Putting all of that aside I still love this film. It all comes down to"Faith" "Hope" "Family" and "Traditions".
The main plot of the film is that Wendy Carroll (Ashley Williams) and her six-year-old daughter Grace (Kylie Price) live in a small town where Christmas is everywhere, she gets a foreclosure notice three weeks before Christmas for her father's candy store that she has ran for the last five years. To make some extra money and save the candy store Carroll and Grace travel to the big city. She stays with her friend Angie from back home whom just got a major part in a play. Angie works at Wolman's Department store where she takes Carrol to apply for a temp job. On waiting for Angie to check in she meets Tom who manages the store and offer's her a job in the toy department of Wolmans, the city's biggest department store, Wendy can't wait! She thinks the store is amazing, with all the Christmas holiday cheer, unfortunately her excitement doesn't last long when the store's manager, Teanna (Ashanti), destroys the Christmas spirit throughout the store and replaces Santa. (Michael Durrell) with a hunky male underwear model surrounded by elfin "babes."
I don't want to give too much away but I love it when it seems the whole world breaks out and sings "Oh Come All Ye Faithful". I am not religious but that moment is magic to me. This film has a vibe that reminds me of the movies "Disney" made in the 1960's and 1970's
Very family safe. Not for everyone. However if you want to watch a film about a woman trying to hang on to family traditions and succeeding then watch this. I wish this was available on DVD however you can stream it on Netflix.
I am looking forward to seeing Ashley Williams on other projects.
Christmas Grace (2013)
This Film Is Terrible
What a terrible film. The plot. The directing. The writing. The acting. The camera angles. Nothing is done by a professional.
In this film a fan has his faith tested when he loses his toy store business after a major competitor opens up his revival store across the street.
If you want to have a blast with this film then you need to invite friends over have keg of beer and then laugh at how bad this film gets and how stupid the ending is.
The best thing about this film is that you can take the DVD of it and have a pretty good size coaster for your coffee table.
I do not mind a religious theme I expect it in a Christmas movie. What I hate is poorly made films.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
They are remaking this for 2018
At first I was shocked that there was going to be an animated remake of this film. Then I watched this film again and I can see why! This film is a little slow. There also no heart to it. I loved this film when I first saw it in theaters. Years later I saw it again and I was scratching my head wondering why did I like it to begin with?
The sets designs are great. Jim is also a wonderful Grinch but many the film suffers from a lack of diversity. With a town that is a full of Christmas lights there is hardly any color pallet o the town! It all blends.
Now the film is still watchable but in another few more years it will be forgotten if the remake delivers what Ron Howard couldn't
