Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
Marvel's and Star wars crossover
The movie name suggests they'll explore and at least pay some attention to the quantum realm. But what you get is an unrealistic version of Star Wars.
There is simple gravity, simple air, standard laws of Newtonian physics. It's shallower than my kitchen sink.
The quantum realm is supposed to be a mysterious and unpredictable place, where the laws of physics break down and time and space are distorted. But the movie does not explore any of these fascinating aspects, instead opting for a bland and generic sci-fi setting that looks like a cheap knock-off of Star Wars.
The movie does not even explain how the quantum realm works, or why it is important for the plot. It just serves as a convenient device to introduce Kang, the new villain who threatens to destroy the multiverse. But even Kang's motivations and origins are vague and uninteresting, making him a one-dimensional antagonist who lacks depth and charisma.
There's too much happening all the time, so you never get into the groove of the movie.
The movie tries to cram too many subplots and characters into its runtime, resulting in a messy and chaotic narrative that does not flow well. The movie jumps from one location to another, from one action scene to another, without giving the audience time to breathe or care about what is happening.
The movie also suffers from tonal inconsistency, as it switches from comedy to drama to horror to romance without any coherence or logic. The movie does not know what it wants to be, and ends up being nothing at all.
I guess Marvels ended with the endgame.
The movie fails to live up to the expectations and standards set by the previous MCU movies, especially the epic and satisfying conclusion of Avengers: Endgame. The movie does not offer anything new or exciting to the franchise, and feels like a filler episode that does not advance the overall story or character arcs.
The movie also does not pay respect to the legacy and history of the MCU, as it retcons and contradicts some of the established facts and events from the previous movies. For example, the movie reveals that Scott Lang's daughter Cassie has been recast and aged up, without any explanation or justification. The movie also ignores the consequences and implications of the snap and the blip, and how they affected the lives and relationships of the characters.
The movie tries to balance humor and drama, but fails at both. The jokes are stale and the emotional moments are unearned. The characters are either underdeveloped or sidelined, especially Hope, who deserves better than being a mere sidekick.
The movie attempts to inject humor and levity into its dark and serious plot, but the jokes are not funny and often inappropriate. The movie relies on cheap gags and slapstick comedy, such as Scott's suit malfunctioning or Luis' long-winded stories, that do not fit the tone or the context of the movie. The jokes also undermine the stakes and the tension of the movie, making it hard to take the movie seriously.
The movie also fails to deliver any emotional impact or resonance, as the drama and the romance are forced and superficial. The movie does not develop or explore the relationships between the characters, such as Scott and Hope, Hank and Janet, or Kang and Ravonna. The movie does not make the audience care about the characters or their struggles, and does not give them any meaningful or memorable moments.
The movie wastes the potential and the talent of its cast, especially Evangeline Lilly, who plays Hope van Dyne, aka the Wasp. Hope is supposed to be the co-lead and the co-hero of the movie, but she is reduced to a supporting role and a love interest for Scott. She does not have any agency or personality, and her actions and decisions are dictated by the men around her. She does not get to showcase her skills or abilities, and her role in the plot is minimal and irrelevant.
Modern Love: When the Doorman Is Your Main Man (2019)
Surprised and Befuddled
I have no words to describe how amazing this episode is. It's like a breath of fresh air in a sea of clichés and stereotypes. The characters are so real and complex, they make me feel like I know them personally. The story is gripping and unpredictable, it keeps me on the edge of my seat every time. This episode was especially brilliant, it had everything: drama, suspense, emotion, humor. I don't understand how anyone can rate it less than 9.5 out of 10.
Maybe some people are too scared to face the truth that this episode is better than any movie they've ever watched. Maybe they're too jealous to appreciate the talent and creativity of the writers and actors. Maybe they're too boring to enjoy the fun and excitement of this masterpiece. Whatever the reason, they're missing out on one of the best episodes ever made.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Movie not found
Could not infer which age group they gave tried targeting.
Story and visuals look like they're meant for 5yr olds, but then there is violence. For adults, is cringe.
Trumpet and orchestra plays for 5-6 mins before someone speaks a short line. Then, orchestra follows.
Watched it for free, but I should be paid for it.
Two and a Half Men: Of Course He's Dead: Part 1 & 2 (2015)
Misdirected revenge
Chuck wanted to seek his revenge on Charlie, & didn't realise (or maybe he did) he spoilt it and ridiculed his loyal audience instead.
Cosmos (1980)
On par with book Sapiens
I had seen the 2014 Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey. And wanted to check this one. My skepticism:
1. This is 40 years in the past. The narration, cameras, direction would be too dated to have any value beyond nostalgia.
2. Core content is around scientific research; haven't we done all of it in last 40 years and made this series a dinosaur?
Well, couldn't be further wrong! This series trumps anything non-fiction I've ever seen (I see a lot).
A must watch to complete your perspective on where we are.
Warm Bodies (2013)
A refreshing movie on zombies
Not the usual shouting crying zombie movie. Dialogues are intriguing too. "I felt like dying all over again"!
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Utterly lame and stupid
It's not that fans are disappointed coz they expected another story. It's just the sheer incompetence of D&D that shines over the end of the saga
Aquaman (2018)
Too long and dumb
Movie goes on and on. You start feeling cringy and hope it all ends with usual king movie cliches. No depth in characters. Love story is quite mechanical
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Art gone wrong
Have you seen baby video songs. Where they emphasis an event or scenario over and over again for 5 minutes continuously? (Think teletubbies). This film does that to you. You watch a person flying for 5 minutes straight, or even breathing. yeah that too for five minutes straight.
UFO (2018)
Interesting take on sci-fi
This is more of a sci than fi in sci-fi genre. Very calming backdrop and thoughtful movie which also urges people to bring out their geekiness.

Immortal Egypt (2016)
Sufficient historical knowledge
The content is decent and you gain a good insight into history and people of Egypt.
The presenter, however, is terrible and insincere. She's tries to be overly dramatic and fails miserably.
