Rick and Morty: Rise of the Numbericons: The Movie (2023)
Couldn't finish it
Never have I not bothered to finished an episode of Rick and Morty in the years I've been watching, from the beginning, until now.
You can actually feel the decline in quality over the past couple of seasons but this episode makes me worry, this show has still got so much potential but not with episodes like this. They need quality in the writers room not garbage fan fiction, which this felt like.
They took an end credits gag that was only slightly amusing because of how stupid it was and made a whole episode about it, with the least interesting characters, f knows what they were thinking with this. The episodes are only around 20 something minutes but this bs struggles to hold your attention for 20 something seconds.
I really hope the last episodes save this season, they need to be sublime to make up for this disaster of an episode.
Baby Driver (2017)
Shame, missed opportunity..
Had high hopes for a 8.0 IMDb reviewed movie, but was left baffled to who is voting that high for this trash..
Starts off promising, ridiculous but entertaining opening car chase..
After this, for me the story falls flat, and the movies rating is more like rating for how high the cliché factor is. Clichés.. Clichés everywhere.
Kid can drive like a pro, not explained. Because his terrible parents died in a car accident and his has tinnitus?
Kevin Spacey is the criminal boss, who throughout the film is threatening Baby and the people he cares about, suddenly sacrifices himself because he sees the two love birds together. Because logic?
Bad guys are unprofessional, lunatic criminals and unnecessarily bad, Jamie Foxx is bad for the sake of being bad, the couple are annoying, and Jon Bernthal was the same character as Jamie Foxx, only ion the film for a few minutes then just replaced him for some reason. Because Kevin Spacey never uses the same crew twice, why not? Who knows..
Baby was hired because Kevin Spacey saw him stealing his car and thought "This guy can steal a car, therefore he's perfectly qualified to be a getaway driver." Okay..
Then the girl who has like one date with Baby and is prepared to give up her life for him and even waits for him 5 years to come out of prison. Oh dear.
The chase scenes become ridiculous as the couple constantly escape drones of police, and Jon Hamm then becomes the terminator, then absurdly hunts Baby.
The gun exchange was silly and had nothing to do with the heist, only to show off how insane and recklessly erratic Jamie Foxx is, why would you hire such an unprofessional nutjob..
I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea of the mess of a film this is.
Disappointing.
Fear, Inc. (2016)
Annoying and Boring
What this film is NOT: Funny, Entertaining, Well acted
What this film is: Terrible, Predictable, Stupid.
As another reviewer rightly said the lead 'actor' of this movie was incredibly annoying, it's possible it could have been better with another actor, in between being too enthusiastic and excited to being overly panicking and pathetically crying the scenes felt annoying, boring and painfully dragged out. But unfortunately I endured to see the movie out (instead of turning it off). I will some it up below for those interested and save and hour and a half or so of your lives.
============== SPOILERS ==============
So we have this complete loser, annoying douche, who is sponging off his girlfriends parents, hires this ridiculous team called 'fear, inc', despite his friends and girlfriend warning against it (because fear inc are crazy or something stupid), being the complete douche that he is, he hires them anyway. His friends who are staying the weekend freak out, they get separated (this even feels stupid to explain). Anyway there are stupidly predictable twists, and like 'The Game' the movie which they mention in the film, its all a gag that his friends and girlfriend are in on, but it's too late because douchebag accidentally kills one of the Fear inc team, they go to bury the body and Fear inc find him and kill his girlfriend...
But again THAT was all part of the gag! Yay! How predictable. Then the ultimate predictability which I hoped they wouldn't go for because it made a less than average film go full retard, when the Fear inc people kill him and all his friends all of a sudden, for no reason, and we as viewers are supposed to believe that there could be a company that would just go around killing people so extravagantly and elaborately without getting caught or even suspected, despite people dying after hiring them and people knowing about them. This twist was stupid and unnecessary.
I wish I had just re-watched 'The Game' (this film does the twists the right way) or maybe even just watched some paint dry.
Shot Caller (2017)
Film of the year so far
Brilliant acting, Great Characters, Interesting story.
You don't get many gems like this these days.
It's a stunning movie, definitely recommend for anyone to go out and see this. There wasn't a weak performance, and Coaster-Waldau is truly great.
I saw the trailer and was worried that the too much of story had been given away, but the way it's directed makes the movie interesting from start to finish, and I felt like I didn't want it to end. There is so much more to it than just the trailer.
Free Fire (2016)
Free Crawling
That is what they should have called this film.
Some action and a lot of crawling, like watching paint dry.
I wanted to like it but it was just too ridiculous and tedious.
No likable characters really, I wasted my time watching this and I urge you not to do the same.
Shame really, with such a great cast and a good performance it still wasn't enough to save it.
