Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023)
Hmmmm an O'dear moment for me
Please tell me Black Manta carps it!!!!! I actually hate his character
At the beginning I got the distinct impression that JM did not enjoy making this film. AH should have been erased as she just drags it down further. What scenes she is in and just pops up are distracting, disconnected and definitely do not tell me wild passion but more artificial insemination. Action scenes hold it together but please if there is a god out there let manta die!
I adore the sassy biomechanical octopus who knew they were comedians
It is sad as the first film was engaging and enjoyable. This has lost its lustre for me.
Avgrunden (2023)
I just wanted the spineless non ex husband to die!!!!
Well I went in with all sorts of good ideas and intensions. Freya has to be on the spectrum, who else looks at their significant other and demands why are you here, you are not supposed to be here until tonight. No hug or kiss of welcome but she proceeds to jump him as soon as they reach her home. Snuggling in the afterglow they are interruped by the not so ex husband wandering in. He is soon bristling at the decidely dashing fire man sat half naked on the family sofa. He then spends most of the rest of the movie peeing in circles around what he considers his domain. He is spineless, the daughter has a few more genes from her mother but is equally as boneheaded like her father. Spoiler the final dtraw for me was the sort of ex husband who is clinging like an unwanted klingon swipes, yes swipes the engagement ring out of dashing firefighters hand and won't give it back. An embarassing tussle takes place on the chapel floor.
I just wanted the non ex husband to die so bad!!!!!!!!
The English (2022)
Beautifully Done
Now this I really got into Emily Blunt was superb with her backbone of steel. Its1890ish the end of the war but certain factions are still doing their own thing. Settlers are coming across the great plains of America, the indigenous population is being shuffled off to useless tracts of land that the invading people don't want.
We meet Lady Cornelia Locke who has come to the USA searching for the man she believes is responsible for the death of her son. We meet Thomas Trafford the would be cattle baron (think Yellowstone), black eyed mog is down right scary with her welsh headdress and accent! But the interaction between Cornelia and Sgt Eli Whipp a Pawnee scout is off the charts. As the episodes play you will find yourself with tissues and sniffing miserably.
I only have one complaint and that is in Episode 5 they are sat at a camp table driinking tea from a teaset that does not get sold for another 40 years - I know this because its in my cupboard. A wedding gift to my grandparents in law when they married in 1930!
Black Adam (2022)
Enjoyable but I have issues ....
Can I just say I did seriously enjoy this but I really really disliked Hawkman, no idea why they chose him. The stench of burning martyerdom and self-righteouness he was spreading just about choked the life out of me. Not sure what kind of Justice League they are when you have no idea who the characters are and who gave them their over inflated ideas and Thunderbirds type toys. I will rewatch to catch what I missed but I will have to grit my teeth to get past my dislike!
On a bonus let the credits run for a sneaky meeting of minds!
I do like the Rock as Black Adam, I enjoyed his backstory when it came through and Henry Winkler did make me smile.
Our Father (2022)
Am stunned
The fact that the US judicial system does not see this mans behaviour as criminal is telling. Amazing story, I especially loved the Dr Phil touch.
Its only a matter of time before siblings marry and the situation blows up again.
Cursed (2020)
Still undecided
Am confused and bemused by the naming of characters, who all come from the original tale but are in the wrong place. But I do have to point out that Nimeh lost her grey luggage between walking away from the harbour and entering the market. And Merlin managed to seal his wineskin with a hollowed out cork long before they were used. Otherwise enjoyable!
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1978)
I was taken to see this for my 17th birthday
I remember a totally different cover to this!
I do remember confusing it with the Beatles, I might have been an air head too😶😶😶
The VVitch: A New-England Folktale (2015)
Curious
I am not too sure what we just watched. On one hand the puritan detailing was superb but I sort of lost the storyline somewhere and struggled to reconnect
Dublin Murders: Episode #1.8 (2019)
Confused, bemused and kerfuzzlec
So I have now watched all eight episodes and I am now looking around scratching my head ..... yup I am now kerfuzzled.
Three Girls (2017)
In the 21st century why is this still happrning?
I watched this yesterday for the first time. It is harrowing and shocking. The young actresses who portrayed Holly, Amber and Ruby should be congratulated on their moving portrayals of the abuse these girls received.
That this goes on, and still does is the worst kind of offence - watching the trial it was the girls morals and behaviours that were called into question, and people wonder why rapes often go unreported whilst their victims suffer in silence.
As for the police and the council who filtered the blame on the stalling and bad handling to anyone except themselves. I hope neither they or their children are never placed in this vulnerable position and know what the did to the future of those young girls
