The Leftovers: Guest (2014)
Amazing episode
Wow, this was an amazing episode. This, and the Two Boats and a Helicopter are absolutely brilliant. The rest of the episodes were entertaining, but unremarkable. This reminds me of Lost, another Lindelof show because some episodes have almost no plot progression while other episodes like this blow you away. My favorite scene is when the black man hugs the woman because the scene was so beautiful and Carrie Coon and Paterson Joseph are both beautiful too they should get together in a hotel room. Justin Theroux is very difficult to watch because you know that his eyebrows are shaped and I'm saying this as a straight black man but it is very unnerving. Somebody should tell him that he should ease up on the plucking.
Suits: Leveraged (2014)
Solid episode
Average episode of Suits. Mike was being a shameful man but then he recovered himself which was good. I enjoy watching this show because the African Americans are well portrayed here. Jessica is a really cool character and I like how she handles things and she knows how go down. The other black guy that they introduced this season reminds me of this guy that works at the Costco that I visit oftenly because he is very calm but smart. I know race isn't everything but the writers sure know how to make characters that feel real. The only problem with this show is that the plots are getting repetitive and this show needs some balls to do something crazy like they did back in season 2.
Orange Is the New Black: We Have Manners. We're Polite. (2014)
Very satisfying finale!
As a black person I think it's safe to say that Vee was an embarrassment to our race. I try my best not to bring race up, but she was a cruel and horrible person and I hope she died. I still like Taystee because she reminds me of my sister Shanice. I liked the song Don't Fear the Reaper that they played in the end because that song was in both Rock Band and Guitar Hero and I remember I used to be able to play that song on Expert in both games. I think one of the reasons people like Orange is the New Black is the fair use of race because other shows forget to use people of color in their shows and the shows start to make you feel uneasy and you stop watching them but this show doesn't do that. I can't wait for season 3 and I hope Taystee Poussey and Crazy Eyes get good plot lines.
24: Live Another Day: Day 9: 10:00 p.m.-11:00 a.m. (2014)
Good finale for all races!
I wanted to write my own review here so people can here a black man's opinion on this finale. I gotta say I was blown away here! The most heartbreaking scene was when Jack finds out about Audrey's death, it was so sad, my daughter even cried during that scene. It was a shame that the writers didn't give the black guy from the CIA more lines but there was too much stuff going on so I guess they didn't. I think he was Chris Partlow from the Wire but I liked his character in 24 too because he seemed like a reasonable guy. I wish they brought back President Palmer's brother because he was a really good character and it's always good to see another man of color on TV shows. Anyways, this was a great finale, it wasn't as good as season 1, 4, or 5 finales but it was one of the better ones.
True Blood: Death Is Not the End (2014)
Best episode in a while!
Being a black person I tend to see myself in Lafayette, but I also like Eric more and more now. Lots of great scenes with Eric here. The final 10 minutes were really tense and I was scared that the red chick was gonna die. My only criticism is that there were no people of color in that final fight because it would have made things more tense for the black viewers like myself, but otherwise this was a good episode. I hope that Tara really isn't dead because now Lafayette is the only person of color left and I am worried that black viewers will stop watching this show and the viewership will go down. But the writers don't worry about viewership because this is the last season so it's not like they worry about getting cancelled. We haven't seen an African American villain in True Blood yet so I am hoping they will include this in this season.
