Killers (2010)
Funny, upbeat, with plenty of action.
I enjoyed watching Killers and can't understand why it is getting such bad reviews. For one thing, I thought it was hilarious, especially the parts where Spencer and Jen were just getting to know each other.
Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigle portray likable characters and seem to fit their roles well.
I like the romantic comedy parts of this movie the most. The action was a bit cheesy, but it made the movie all the more lightweight and funny. There were a few plot twists at the end that I didn't exactly get- maybe if I watched it a second time I would figure it out.
But, despite these flaws, Killers earns a 10 from me.
The Last Song (2010)
Great Movie
I've been to see this movie twice and enjoyed it immensely both times. I have not been a big fan of Miley Cyrus, but I thought this was the perfect transitional role for her. Even if her acting wasn't Oscar-worthy, it was a huge step up from her previous acting roles.
I also thought Greg Kinnear (Ronnie's Dad) did an excellent job with his character. Liam Hemsworth (Will) was pretty good in his role, too. It's nice to see a really tall actor on the screen for a change.
I didn't feel that the movie was rushed at all, but actually thought the pace was perfect and was glad the ending wasn't dragged out any more.
For those of you who don't know, the screen play for the movie was written before the book, so it seems unfair to critique the movie based on the book.
I've read the book, too, but I like the movie more. I think a bunch of the bad reviews the movie has been getting aren't fair- they are either comparing the book to the movie (which, as I said, doesn't seem right), or berating Miley Cyrus's acting skills.
But I don't care what the other reviews say. This was a great movie in my opinion. I loved it.
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010)
Enjoyable (+ Important Note)
I am a fan of the books and wasn't sure what to expect when I saw the movie. I was worried it would be another fiasco like the great-book-to-not-so-great-movie Eragon.
However, I was pleasantly surprised. Sure, the movie didn't follow the book exactly, but that would be difficult considering how long the original book was. I thought the movie managed to stay close enough to the book that it was still an enjoyable experience to watch it for a fan of the book.
I think, overall, the actors fit their characters quite well-- especially Logan Lerman. If they had just started the movie with him a few years younger, it would have been perfect.
IMPORTANT NOTE: There is a funny clip halfway through the credits- so stick around!
