10,000 BC (2008)
Historical, and geographical mess
I had a lot of people tell me that this movie was a disappointment, but i watched it with a clear mind, and God knows i gave it its chance, and as cliché and weird the storyline is, the most annoying thing about it is the complete and utter disregard to the accual history. i mean i understand that no one claimed it to be a historical documentary, but when you place the pyramids and sphinx 7000 years before their accual built date, and and really through every thing known about the Egyptian empire out the window, i think you are pushing the limit, i will not go into detail so as not to spoil anything, but even if the story did not mean the pyramid builders in the movie to be Egyptians, i think they blew that defence with the great deal of resemblance, down to the sphinx and the sun boat.
the other thing that really made this a pain to watch, is the complete disregard to the laws of nature and geography, it makes you feel as if traveling half way across the earth only takes a couple of weeks on foot, and i am no scientist, but even i know that mastodons or mammoths an arctic animal could not have survived in desert heat.
this is only my opinion but judging by the ratings, a lot of people share the disappointment. don't pay money to buy or see thing in a theater, a TV watch or rental will not kill you tough.
DOA: Dead or Alive (2006)
Bad version of Mortal combat
I never had much hope for this to be a good movie. and therefore was not very disappointed afterwords. the acting is very poor, and the the cast is to a large extent novice. and still have a long way to reach the performance the audience hopes for. also the writing is very crude, and un entertaining. this could of done better with no dialogue at all. but i have to admit that the ladies did some hardcore effort in producing a somewhat OK performance in the fights.
this film could be best described as the "bad" version of Mortal Combat. the fighting is no where are as good, and cast is truly talentless. and the idea is just so unoriginal. not to mention the childish story and the "cartoon network" like ending....
wouldn't advise buying or renting, but watching it on a cable channel wont be that bad
The Marine (2006)
Redefines the word AWFUL
The film is so unoriginal. And the plot has been killed long ago, the endings is anticipated from the beginning. The film shows crappy performance on almost all scales. The marine himself portrayed as an indestructible, bullet proof, fire proof " terminator"- did very badly regarding the acting skills, and the plot is so lame and boring. The editing and screenplay is terrible, and who ever made this film is crazy about blowing things up. I truly regret the time I spent watching this, and I advise you not to see it. I also truly urge all those film makers out there, not to waste all that money on movies like this one, that don't add anything to the empire of the large screen.
The Lake House (2006)
Great romance, not at all boring
The movie is very uniquely exciting, the depth of meaning and the change of events make it very enjoyable. great performance on both the actors parts, and the direction. i liked the way the actors took their roles and brought them to life in a real moving and truthful presentation. although the director or writers do not resolve to the audience a very important fact about the plot of the movie, but leaving it unsaid does make the movie more appealing. i very much liked the way the plot goes , and way it plays with your mind, preventing you from figuring out the ending very early in the movie, but also keeping you interested and not lost, as some movies do. i admire the great acting done by both stars, and the supporting actors also did a great job, and this movie truly shows that romance drama is not all about the kissing, but about making the audience feel it.
