The 5th Wave (2016)
One of the greatest comedies of all time
As a one sentence summary of the movie's technical aspects (concept, acting, CGI, etc): good concepts with potential, poorly executed. The whole story revolves with finding one character for almost 1:30 minutes and clichéd moments are everywhere. The film is so predictable it got to the point where I didn't even have to think that hard to see what comes up next. Chole Grace Moret's acting was decent, but with her character on such a mood swing who can blame her? Almost everyone in the squad were 2D characters with stereotypical perks such as the guy in glasses knows where to shoot and not hit any organs.
Just, ugh. Disappointment. But great comedy though, lol'ed a lot with the stupidity of the point points and twists.
Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments (2016)
Truly Disappointing
WARNING: Review includes summary for the first episode of the series.
At first I thought that this series would be a continuation of the horrible movie 'City of Bones' but no, this was a replication of the movie. Even with dumber character, plot and effects. I immediately gave up after watching just the Pilot. The tag line for the series "All the Legends are true" is probably one of the dumbest tag line I've ever heard and seen since the book series ain't as popular and there are no legends.
Don't even get me started with the use of effects, it's f**king hilarious to see grown men and women fling around what is CLEARLY plastic swords with LEDs in them and making noises. It got to the point where the fight couldn't be taken seriously knowing that they were just playing around with expensive toys. The horrible transformation sequence of Dot into a demon was just a huge joke, she just suddenly turned into Ooze.
Characters are dumb, Clary (main protagonist) was CLEARLY told by her mother not to come back and go to her step-father were she'll tell her all the answers. What does she do? She gets teleported to her step-father and sulks at the station. Like "Are you f**king kidding me? You couldn't even are your own father what the f**k is happening around you?" She proceeds to be an idiot and goes back to her mother. I mean, seriously? You didn't even bother to make the step-father explain the story. The character developments are small and 3 of the characters you're introduced to dies. There is no point of many of the side characters both in The Circle and mundanes.
SPOILER TERRITORY Here'a a quick summary of the pilot: Girl turns 18, mom tries to explain her future life. Girl is a bitch and ignores mom, mom gets attacked and girl freaks out. Girl is now set to do one thing and one thing only, to find her mother. Girl is oblivious to what is happening to her life and demands to find her mother and her mother only. See how there's no point?
P.S. They get 2 stars for this one for special effects (not the plastic swords but the sh*t tentacle mouth monsters)
Shingeki no Kyojin (2013)
Japan's Equivalent to The Walking Dead
Yes, sorry for the cheesy title (maybe ripped off some other reviews) but it's true. In my opinion it's even better than The Walking Dead. If you like action, thriller, mystery mixed in with some drama then this is perfect for you. If you are very easily emotionally impacted by movies then you're gonna need a box of Kleenex with you because you are gonna be making it rain tears. The anime is probably my most favorite anime out of all of them. This one just hits all the right pointers.
If you are deciding on what version to watch (sub or dub), it would depend on your concentration skill. If you are concentrated enough, that Japanese audio you won't understand isn't gonna distract you from reading the sub then go for it. If you are to do something else at the same time like go through Facebook, for example, I would recommend to watch the dub which all you need to concentrate on is the audio.
Open Windows (2014)
Had potential, great cast but ruined it in the ending.
Well, what can I say. After seeing the movie then only thing I could think about was Sasha Grey's boobs, nah just kidding. What I was left with watching the movie was how much it was making fun of technology. How a man could turn into a murderer by someone contacting them through Skype. I loved the concept of the moving being told from one computer screen, I thought that was really smart and cool. The cast was great, Sasha Grey, Elijah Wood and Sasha's boobs. The potential of it being a great movie was very high. I had a low exception for this movie so, after seeing it, my expectation was met. That was until the ending. I don't want to spoil it for the sake of the community but you'll see what I mean once you see it.
Final Comment: Had potential, great cast, could improve on ending and story. Boobs. Final Score: 5/10
Jingle All the Way 2 (2014)
The most disappointing reboot in the history of movies.
Wow, I couldn't even stand half-way through the hole movie. Everything was predictable and played out exactly as the first movie. With no effort of making a new plot or style but sticking to the old "Larry can't act" movies. I mean, out of all the Larry movies this is by far the worst. Larry is probably worse than having Adam Sandler play in the movie, I mean Adam would have been able to pull it off better than him. Hollywood just completely ran out of ideas and recycled the same old crap with some new setting, toy and characters. But instead of making a toy sell out faster than anything else, it turns out to be a guy buying them (not gonna name who for the sake of spoilers). I had to stop the movie because if you have seen the first movie, you would know what was going to happen and it's the exact same. No changes just the same old plot with small tweaks.
Final Comment: No potential, bad story, bad reboot. Final Score: 1/10
Prisoners (2013)
Good storyline, not so interesting to watch
Yeah... Just finished watching it. Not really worth your money, it had a really boring development. At one point, I got so bored that I just skipped to the ending which I will not put in this review because it's a spoiler. However, the storyline was pretty good. Feels very powerful and could happen to anyone of us or any children. The movie had a very slow development showing the family and how they react to their children's kidnapping and what they do. The plot is pretty simple but it takes too long to show that development. I recommend you to torrent it or watch it online before actually wasting your money. If you like it and want to have the movie forever, then just buy it afterwards.
Vampire Academy (2014)
Not Too Bad of a Movie
I would give this movie a 7 although the fact that I have never read the books before, I still think it was a good movie. Good storyline, good action, good special effects, I mean if you are looking for a vampire movie that contains a bit of a lap dance (no, really) with no clothes off, around 80% hot vampire chicks and 10-15 vampire bites. Then this may be the movie for you, I dunno. If you really wanna know what the movie is like but don't want to waste money, just torrent it... but that is illegal so, don't. But if you are use the YIFY torrent, they have the best torrents. I dunno what to write now, IMDb is making me write 10 lines of text so if you are reading up to here, there's pretty much nothing left now.
