Steller performances with great storyline
21 November 2021
Watching Jai Bheem makes one realize the power of the visual medium. What movies are supposed to do to you eventually educate and you organize. Every character is well written and the people playing them to the hilt.

Tamil movie industry has churned out some great hard hitting movies and Jai Bheem is one of them. They didn't shy away from showing the police brutalities or show them in rosy light. And in the current political context, these truths need to be told more so now.

Kudos to the entire team for making such an amazing film.

Jai Bheem !

Overhyped fluff. Waste of 3hrs.

Warning: Spoilers
As someone who is from Mavelikkara where the Sukumar Kurup incident took place, this movie was as far as they could write from the original storyline. The shoddy writing didn't help. It's seems like the story was written by different people at different points in the storyline.

The actress looks lost, first 20mins of the story is from the perspective of a friend which is lost since there is no call back to these characters in IAF later in the story.

Only DQ fans would have loved this movie only for his slo-mo shots. Apart from that, nobody can make sense of this ridiculous film.

A directorial delight!

Yes yes Nivin Pauly has acted well but more than that it was the director's vision which gave this movie its heart. The storyline is nothing new - a young carefree lad George falls in love for the first time and many times thereafter and how his outlook of the world changes with each lady love of his life. Alphonse Puthren gave a new life to the script with his impeccable cinematography and detailing. Each and every role is etched perfectly and acted with excellence. The roles played by the support actors as George's best friends tingle your heart because when their friend is heartbroken they cry with him too. After a very long time has a movie come where the emphasis is not on the family drama but on the adopted family that we get as our friends. The background score of the movie is excellent keeping up with the tempo of the movie frames. Though I felt there were a couple of unwanted scenes here and there but whole and whole it was a good entertainer. P.S.- Nivin Pauly looks stunning in that black shirt, mundu and those aviators..!! *sigh*

One time Watch

Well considering the promotions they did for the movie, it was kinda hard not to go and watch it!! For people who expect ZMND kinda feel are going to be disappointed since DDD lacks the zest factor of ZMND. Performance wise I must Ranveer Singh as usual stole the show with his wit charm and boyishness. Anil Kapoor for once played his age and has done it with elan. But the movie lacked a catchy soundtrack and too many characters just spoilt the essence of the script. The lifestyle of the rich was difficult to relate on many levels and the dialogues lacked Javed AKhtar touch.

P.S.- The movieis too lengthy, esp the first half which seems to drag on forever.

Too Long!!!
15 September 2014
The director seems to have got overwhelmed with the magnanimity of the script with him and wandered off everywhere.

The movie was too long, the editor could have done a much better job to keep the audience interested. And the dialogues seemed to lack the punch to incite a Nationalistic feeling in our hearts about a woman who overcame so much to play for her country.

Acting wise PC seems to have put in her best for this movie but her performance couldn't really tug your heart strings. Somebody other than her would have been a better choice I feel.

The hilarious part was the product placement with Iodex and Tata Salt being some :P

Finding Fanny (2014)

Only for a niche audience!
15 September 2014
The movie is not for everybody especially not for people who are used to the commercial capers which our dear old Bollywood is dishing out everyday!!

well with a star cast of Naseeruddin Shah and Pankuj Kapur(brothers-in-law sharing screen presence together for the first time!!) you go in with high expectations and fortunately they both deliver class performances!Dimpal Kapadia and Deepika both contribute significantly. The only wobbly performance was of Arjun Kapoor as a sulky boy but his diction was not clear at times and expression the same for most of the emotions!!

The movie is all about finding what we have lost in our lives but never had the courage to go about it to attain it. Though the dark humour and crisp editing is the movie's USP.

All in all Finding Fanny is a relief from some of the past torturous movies i had to endure!!

The cinematographer also has done a good job in capturing the picturesque Goa at its best.
