Lost in Space (2018)
A beautiful study in state of the art CGI combined with bad writing
I tried. I really tried. I love scifi and I was totally waiting for Lost in Space. All started nicely but quickly drifted away in a annoying mixture of braindead grown-ups combined with kids specialised on disobedience always perfectly timed in life-threatening situations.
This mix is "enriched" with an ultimately evil protagonist who mutates miraculously from off-the-street-junkie to impersonating a professional psychatric and later on becoming - also miracolously - a post-human technican repairing robots. Of course the ultimate evil haunts the whole storyline an gets away with virtually everything because of the professional ignorance of all other people in the story.
Spice up this already desasterous plot with at least two or three inconsistencies per episode and you've got: Lost in Space.
I nearly got through, but three episodes from the season end I couldn't bear this any more. Don't waste your time: it doesn't get better after epsiode two.
Ascension (2014)
Starting off fantastic and full of good ideas
Ascension starts off with a thrilling story and some really wicked twists, keeping you at the edge of your seat.
Unfortunately this only lasts during the first half of the season. Then it gets more and more strange raising to a braindead finale with absolutely no appeal. Nice structures from the beginning are getting trashed without any reason and at the end you are left thinking: "Ok... This must have been the first half of the final episode. They can't be serious - this is just dumb, not even a bad cliffhanger. Simply nothing."
Sorry, but this is wasted time (and potential).
Andròn: The Black Labyrinth (2015)
Incredibly bad
This movie is unbearable bad.
Bad acting is cloaked with a story of such stupidity that it is only matched by its complexity. Nearly not bearable and completely useless. No Message, just fragments of mismatching story parts combined with brain dead violence.
If - after watching this movie - I'd been asked for a plot, I'd honestly have to say: "Sorry, no clue. But there's dramatic music, minor special effects and some violence"
An absolute need not see.
Let's hope the don't waste any money for a sequel.
Drones (2013)
Incredibly boring
There might be admittedly a deeper message in this movie - but the way it is presented (cover etc) one might wait for an action/war movie.
Instead your getting a discussion between two very dull characters sitting in a container, watching a video screen - in feature length. Under pretense of coolness the actors try (and fail) to transport any kind of feeling/reaction.
No action whatsoever, this seems to be some kind of no-budget movie which isn't even very ambitious. The storyline is so predictable that one could stop watching after 10 minutes without missing anything.
If I had watched this in cinema, I would have left after half an hour.
Snowpiercer (2013)
Quite strange, but in the end - a solid action movie
This movie features a great basic setting for its storyline. Unfortunately it has quite a lot of inconsistent background-story components to stomach for the viewer.
I don't want to spoil the story, so I leave it to the viewer to notice the obvious faults.
This movie features some very weird characters, some unexpected twists and a lot of - quite gory - action. I suspect there is not very much in between - either you like it or you can't stand it.
So if you can live with some huge holes in the plot and like action movies with a touch of scfi, this is one for you.
