A Very Brady Christmas (1988 TV Movie)
10/10
I try to watch it every Christmas!
4 January 2023
I watched the Brady bunch probably nearly every day after school. I watched this movie the first time when I was 7-10 most likely the year it first aired and watched it every Christmas season after till the network stopped airing it regularly and only airing it one ever two years. I search for it every Christmas season. About 4 years ago switched from cable tv to streaming tv and it was on Hulu watched it a few times, but Hulu has removed it from there lineup and all searches this year came up empty. I fully understand some people can't watch because the Brady Bunch was so unrealistic and corny but now days with the crap on that is inappropriate for children to even be watching but made specifically for them or to entice them to watch classic shows like the Brady Bunch is much better for them to watch for any parent reading this good clean classics that you don't have to worry about are The Waltons, Dr Quinn, Brady Bunch, just to name a few.

My all time favorite Danielle Steel movie adaptation.
20 December 2022
I watched this movie when it aired on tv in the early to mid 90's it has been a favorite since. Bought it on VHS and watched it over and over till it no longer played, I now have it on dvd and watch it whenever the mood strikes. I have also read the book several times over the years. I love how Danielle Steel weaves so much history into her work. Zoya, The Ring, No Grater Love, and Star have book and movie adaptations that are awesome as well. Pegasus, and the award are awesome as well but to the best of my knowledge are only books. The Promise, Ransom, Fine Things, Heartbeat, Mixed Blessings, and Family Album have less history but are all awesome book or movie adaptations.

Dare to Love (1995 TV Movie)
10/10
One of my favorites.
6 October 2022
I saw this made for tv movie years ago when it originally aired, if I'm not mistaken it originally aired on channel 4,5,8, or 11. Although it has the feel of a lifetime movie I'm not sure if it actually is. Jason Gedrick has been a favorite actor of mine since Mario Puzo's The Last Don mini series. I watched this movie mainly because of him. At one time I had this movie recorded and rewatched it often until the recording couldn't be watched anymore. More recently I watched it on YouTube. Great movie. Josie Bassett and Jason Gedrick are both great in this movie. The storyline really tries to bring to light the struggles families and individuals who have mental health issues deal with.

Haven't watched it yet and probably won't.
16 September 2022
I haven't watched it yet and probably won't, the secret garden has always been a favorite of mine, although my favorite version is the Hallmark version made in 1987. Interesting fact about the 1987 Hallmark version Colin Firth who played Archibald Craven this version also played in that version as adult Colin Craven. I had planned to watch this version but I have read the complaints about this version so I will likely not waste my time. Considering the complaints I will just watch my favorite version instead. I recommend anyone to give the 1987 version a chance I believe you will be pleasantly surprised.

Relatively true to the book version
17 May 2022
The storyline of the movie it pretty true to the book the acting is pretty good, however a major issue I had that was between the book adaptation and even the series of movies is that Foxworth Hall is supposed to be this really old gothic mansion not a modern house. The house that Bart built was supposed to be an exact replica of the original house. So I expected to see the same house used in the first movie for this movie not the case they used a more modern house.

Truer to the book than the second installment of the series.
17 May 2022
I enjoyed the movie this movie was much truer to the book than the second installment of the series and because of that redeemed the series because of that. The only aspect of the book that they left out as I recall was getting more in depth about Cathy and Christopher revealing their secret to Jory.

Not as accurate to the book as Flowers in the Attic
17 May 2022
It's a good movie & acting was very good as well. If your watching the Flowers in the Attic series it's the second installment so to understand the rest of the series watching is is necessary.

That said one needs to know this movie is very different from the book honestly if you were to take the book or movie and rename the characters one would swear they are not the same at all. The differences between the book and movie are as follows first and foremost the time frame from beginning to end of book was 10 to 15 or more years. The book picked up right where Flowers in the Attic ended then covered 10 - 15 years of their lives. The movie jumps 10 years then crams much of the events of the book (at least the parts it covered) in to a 2 - 3 year time frame giving it a rushed cramed feeling. In the book series Cathy wanted to be a Prima Ballerina and she achieved this, despite the hardships she faced. The movie adaptation only showed her going to New York for a few months she never achieved Prima Ballerina status. These are just two of the more crucial to the series events that were either not covered or skipped. Another important aspect is the hazing of Carrie at school in the book the hazing started immediately and never stopped because the movie jumped 10 years this was not really covered as well. Seeing as how this was a contributing factor into Carrie's decisions it cheapened that aspect of the story in my opinion. Given that the first movie and truth be told the following two movies in the series stayed truer to the books it was a bit of a disappointment that they chose to not stay truer to the book than they did.

That said if your interested in the series and you have never read any of the books my recommendation to fully understand the series is to either read the series or if you don't want to read all the books you could watch the first movie read Petals on the wind book then watch the other two movies.

Firestarter (2022)

Simply put I loved it
16 May 2022
As someone who was obsessed with the original mind you I was probably way too young to watch the movie to begin with but I did I even had my own name for it Little Girl Firestarter I would not accept simply calling it Firestarter. I watched the movie so much as a child that I have not sat down and watched the movie all the way through in probably 20+ years. So I seeing as it was my birthday today and opening weekend I decided I wanted to see the remake. Simply put I loved it. For me to even watch a remake is rare, not only do I rarely watch a remake but I usually hate it and complain and compare it to the original the entire way through this goes for both movies and tv shows. Going into watch this movie expect some aspects of it to be different but the same basic storyline. It was strange to watch this and not see David Keith and Drew Barrymore, despite that I throughly enjoyed the movie.

After the Promise (1987 TV Movie)

Searched for years for this movie suggestion for others that are similar
23 January 2022
I saw this movie a couple times when it first aired back in the 90's. I knew the name but couldn't find it anywhere. I have done numerous IMDb searches as well as searching the title but never came up with the movie just found it on YouTube once finding out who the actor was I was able to find the movie. I recall it was a very sad based on actual events story. Similar stories include Million Dollar Babies based on the Dion quints, Marg Helenburger did one called Where are my Children, Lea Thompson did one called Stolen Babies, Tyne Daily, Gerald McRaney, and Alicia Silverstone did one called Scattered Dreams, their are others but these are the ones I have watched they are all good movies that are based on actual events where a governmental entity took children from the parents.

Loved it
4 April 2021
I did the one month free trial of Disney+ only to watch this show because I was a huge fan of the movie trilogy. I loved the series, I too saw the nods to the movie trilogy and thought they were done well and tasteful. I am very interested to see how the series explains Bombay's new found hate for hockey. When the movie series ended I got the impression he had gone back to being a lawyer but still had a great love of the game, and was keeping in touch with the players of his team.

I too saw Lauren Graham channeling just enough of her Gilmore Girls character, not too much, it was just enough, which was nice. The cast and storyline is wonderful.

Great movie adaptation
21 February 2021
This is a great movie adaptation of the book one of the best truest to the book adaptations that I have ever seen. The only difference between the book and the movie was the time frame the children were locked in the attic in the book they were locked in the attic for 4 to 4 and a half years in the movie it was 2 to 2 and a half years. Great acting.

I loved this series
29 November 2020
As a kid, I loved this series. I bought the dvd collection as soon as I came across it for a good price. I have watched the series over again and again. When this series ended it left off at a point where it could easily be picked up again later. When the CW rebooted Beauty and the Beast a few years ago I had hoped they were picking up where this show left off but they twisted the story, not to say it was bad because I watched it eventually.

I absolutely loved this mini-series.
29 November 2020
I watched this mini-series when it aired and loved it. I kept a close eye on the Sci-Fi channel and saw the mini-series a couple more times over the years, until I was able to purchase the dvd set at a resale shop a few years ago. What I love about this mini-series is that it is not real heavy on the special effects unless it needs to be. This mini-series is about three families and how each family is affected by encounters with aliens. This movie in my opinion is a theory about how and why encounters happened. This mini-series is not the typical alien invasion plot, it delves deep into the human side of how humans could be affected. The plot and acting is absolutely great. One should have an open mind when watching this mini-series.

I absolutely love this series
16 November 2020
I can't hardly wait for the next season especially after the season 3 finally cliffhanger. I did not start watching this series almost until season 2 aired because at the time my cable provider did not offer the Paramount network channel. I purchased season one as soon as I saw Kevin Costner on the cover and devoured the season watched it twice. I mean let's face it Kevin Costner and westerns simply go together.

The Secret Garden (1987 TV Movie)

My favorite version
16 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I have watched many versions of the book to movie adaptations of the Secret Garden. My all time favorite scene in this movie adaptation is when Mary Lennox is so fed up with Colin's fit throwing she tells his nurse if we were in India I would put a snake in his bed! Every time I watch the movie I rewind that part at least once usually twice. What I like about this version is it is a very believable down to earth version. I'm not a fan of the 95' version where the children are obsessed with magic solving their problems. Another part I like about this version is the way they started and ended the movie with adult Mary Lennox and Colin Craven. Also just a heads up the actor Colin Firth who plays Adult Colin Craven in this version plays Archibald Craven in the latest version of the movie book adaptation.

The movie is amazing but, I prefer the book.
12 November 2020
The first time I watched Gone With the Wind was at school, it was required. I was not a fan of the movie the acting was good, the costumes amazing, the sets great, but in my opinion some of the story line didn't make sense. Reading the book GWTW highlighted and explained the storyline issues I had with the movie. For anyone who has watched the movie and enjoyed it or for people out there who had an issue with the storylines in the movie adaptation not making since one really needs to read the book.

Their is a sequel that finishes the story "Scarlett"

Because the actors are different between Gone With The Wind and Scarlett one has to think of the movie adaptation as a continuation of the GWTW saga and not compare the actors from GWTW and Scarlett to or against each other. One has to go into watching both movies accepting three things, one that many years had passed between when GWTW and Scarlett were made. Two that each book the movies were based on were written by two different people. Three that the scripts were created in different times in history and by different people.

Scarlett (1994)

Loved the movie
12 November 2020
This movie is a continuation of Gone With The Wind picking up right where GWTW ends. I watched this movie because I was a fan of Joanne Whalley since Willow. I loved the movie from the first time I watched it. I have watched the movie several times over the years, but was never able to buy it, until last year, I purchased the movie on Amazon Prime. I have watched it four times in the last year. The movie and the book are different, in some ways I prefer the book and in other ways I prefer the movie. One piece of information for people who watch this movie keep an open mind. My reason for saying this is because the actors are different between this movie and GWTW one has to think of this movie adaptation as a continuation of the GWTW saga and not compare the actors from GWTW and Scarlett to or against each other. One has to go into this movie accepting three things, one that many years had passed between when GWTW and Scarlett were made. Better than I thought
18 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie to satisfy my curiosity, I watched the 2016-2019 series Shadowhunters, which is the tv series based on the book series The Mortal instruments. I have never read the book series, but stumbled upon the tv series Shadowhunters on Hulu and binge watched the entire series twice in a row. I was so interested in the series I was looking for more but after reading the reviews I seriously considered not watching the movie. For anyone who is disappointed with this movie or everyone in general who is interested in watching the movie adaptation, I recommend watching Shadowhunters instead. The movie is ok, better than I thought it would be, but it ends before tying up the loose ends, however the series ties up all the loose ends. My problem is I wish the series continued on past the point where it ended. My favorite line in the movie is where Luke states to Clery he is a werewolf not a golden retriever. In many of the complaints I read in the reviews about this movie not stacking up to the plot of the book series and the movie not developing the characters or certain aspects of the books story enough is all addressed in the TV series Shadowhunters. Example Clery creating runes, Alec's love for Jace you get the point.

Huge fan of the show
16 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a huge fan of the show, although I have to say I was not a fan of the major storyline of season six and seven. I absolutely love season 1 through season 5. Maybe in a couple years I will change my mind about seasons 6&7. Tying up loose ends and explaining more about Becca was great addition to season 7.
