Do Revenge (2022)
Mediocre
What did I even watched ?????? I had very less expectations to be honest but it still managed to disappoint me by an extent. No plot, just two horny girls trying to kiss each other throughout the film. The only thing worth of was the locations, the camera work and the cinematography which gets the one star it deserves.
Camila Mendes is average for her standards. Maya Hawke once again proved that she has nothing to do with acting and is in the industry only because of her nepotism connections.
Netflix needs to step up because most of it's original content has been wasteful in the recent time.
Malcolm X (1992)
Malcolm The Hero !!!
I saw it last night and absolutely loved it . Not a big fan of the biopic genre and its runtime of over 200 mins. made me skeptical but im glad i ended up watching it. Dont wanna talk about its historical accuracy but as a movie it did well enough for me to think about the speeches Malcolm X gave and int shouldve erpret on it. Spike Le does a fantastic job in binding the film toghether however he shouldve teimmed it down to about 170-180 mins.
Denzel was on total fire and carried the entire movie on his shoulders .Maybe should have gotten the oscar nod over Pacino for tatally making it believable that he was indeed malcolm X. A solid 8/10 from me
Thappad (2020)
An important movie
The movie Thappad is a tight slap on the face of masculine society not with the violence, but with the logic and emotions. It is not right to hit a woman in a relationship and thi s movie explains the reasons very well in the course of it's runtime. Kudos to Anubhav Sinha and Taapsee for an impressive work.
Would definitely recommend it to everyone.
Boogie Nights (1997)
A thrilling watch
So i was just reading about what new years eve movies to watch on holidays and this name poped up, coincidentally it had a pretty memorable sequence which was the turning point of the film on the new years eve party .
Paul Thomas Anderson did a fine job showing the rise and the fall of an adult movie star and the people around him working in that industry. The overall presentation was fantastic and it had a nice 70s and 80s feel to it . The character growth of the adult movie star Dirk Diggler was on to the point, Mark Wahlberg did a fine job playing the character .. In one of the sequences he got in his deep thinking about how far he has fallen which was one of the most memorable scenes of the movie. Burt Reynolds as Jack & Julian Moore were the acting stars who held the movie together and had great character development.
Overall I would recommend it, for a good unconventional story and some good performances . Despite a lengthy screen time It doesn't bores you and you don't wish for it to just finish.
Fan (2016)
An Average movie lifted up by SRK's top notch performance
One of those movies where the lead actor comes ahead to save the day in spite of a lousy & lame screenplay and direction . Shah Rukh Khan went back to his good old days of early 90's playing a menacing anti hero with The Fan Gaurav's character, and he delivered his best . His subtle act as the star Aryan Khanna was alright too. Talking about the director Maneesh Sharma , he was brave to attempt such a subject but it felt liked he worked on some parts of it way too casually . The second half was uninteresting and doesn't do full justice with a well built first half that showed a starstruck Gaurav & then his heartbreak. The film falls flat in quite a few places , more so in the second half which had a lot of WTF moments , like both Star & Fan chasing each other on the roofs of the houses ( where were Aryan's bodyguards ? ) , The VFX modified fan's teeth which magically turned a lot shorter when he had to become an impostor of the star , Superstar Aryan Khanna running around on the roads of Delhi without anyone bothering him which is not possible in India. Also felt that the movie was 15-20 Min's. too long , A better editing was required to make an edge of the seat thriller. An important aspect of a thriller ,it's climax , could've been better and an unpredictable one than what we were served with.
Still a good one time watch though , especially for SRK's act.
